The Birth Of My Angel
Finally after 35 (LONG) weeks of pregnancy while battling incompetent Incompetent cervix TyLynn Denise Jenkins entered the world on May 13,2008@8:47pm... On May12th I had a doctors appt to have my cervical cerclage removed... It was the worst experience EVER... 6hours later, I was in labor... *Talk about an Incompetent cervix, I definitely have one*
Due to TyLynn being 5weeks early&some complications during birth she had to remain in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for 1week and 6days after she was born. Labor lasted 21hours. TyLynn had a hard time handling the pitocin that I was given to speed up my contractions and make them more regular and it caused her heart to slow down and twice it completely stopped! I was pushing for a little over an hour and it was very hard on her. She got stuck up under my pelvic bone and had a small case of shoulder dystocia... Thankfully my doctor delivered my daughter very carefully and it didn't affect any movement of her arms and it didn't cause any broken bones or anything!!! *Thank you Jesus* After her delivery I only saw her for about 2minutes because she was having trouble breathing because her longs didn't transition right away...
**TyLynn's Stay In The NICU**
Right after she was admitted into the NICU TyLynn was put on a CPAP machine to help force pressure into her lungs so that they would expand... My first time seeing her was after she was put on that machine and it scared me soo much, I honestly thought my baby was dying. The NICU is a very scary place to be in, you're never comfortable and you're always on edge because you really don't know what's going on. But to my surprise the next day TyLynn was taken off of all oxygen and she was taken off of the CPAP machine. Constantly blood cultures were taken to make sure than nothing was growing in her blood (premature babies tend to have positive blood cultures because their tiny immune systems can't fight off bacteria or infection as well as a "term" baby) Unfortunately one of TyLynn's blood cultures came back positive. She had a bacteria growing in her blood. The morning I found out, I spoke with the neonatologist and she informed me that a spinal tap had to be done in order to find out if the bacteria was surrounding the fluids in her brain or if it was only infecting her blood. That night they did the spinal tap and the next morning I found out that it was only infecting her blood and it was a "staff infection" and she could be given antibiotics to rid her blood of the infection. The antibiotics had to be given to her for 7complete days and after the 7th day she could be released to go home!... Those were the longest 7days of my entire life.
Although TyLynn being in the NICU was very heartbreaking and hard for me, I made it a little easier for myself by going to see her EVERYDAY! Sometimes I would go twice a day and spend 20hours out of my day up there!! It was hard but thankfully she made it through and I am so grateful and everyday I thank God for everything!
Now TyLynn Denise Jenkins is PERFECT and she is the most adorable baby... I couldn't have asked for anything better! She's home and she is 100%healthy!! She's sooo special to me!! She hardly ever cries....Only when she's hungry or when she has a messy diaper! She sleeps through the night and she's just an angel. She unfortunately has acid reflux (common in preemies). We are battling it quite well... It's getting better as she gets older...
TyLynn Denise Jenkins
Hello Ladies... It's been a long time since i've been on here. I've been running crazy with TyLynn. She's gorgeous and she's a joy to have... After everything I went through while I was pregnant I can definitely say it was all worth it. TyLynn hardly ever cries unless she's hungry, but other than that she's somewhere giggling or smiling... She's gorgeous. I've posted some new pictures of her. (November 4th) She's now 5mths old and she's 13lbs 10oz and 23inches long even.
Nice picture :O) |
