Hi, you can get loose raspberry leaves at an herb store, if there is one near by (then you steep maybe 2 tbls in hot water and let it sit for 5 minutes) or you can find it in tea bags (but the concentration is much lower and I'm not sure as effective) at the health food section of most grocery stores. Or you can pick your own, if your sure you know what it looks like and the area you live in is warm enough for them to be leafy already.

Red Raspberry leaf does not start labor or promote contractions. It is NOT an emmenagogue or oxytocic herb. What it does is help strengthen the pelvic and uterine muscles so that once labor does start the muscles will be more efficient. GO to this web site

My friend was induced a couple of weeks ago. She had not dilated any, and they admitted her to the hospital the night before her induction. They gave her Cervadril (prob. didn't spell that right) its an internal med. to ripen the cervix. They have to continually monitor the babies heartbeat while you're on the medicine. Pictocin the next morning. Best of luck, it won't be long now!

i know some women say it hurts to have an internal exam but mine have never been painful or even uncomfortable for that matter...maybe it just depends on the doc or how sensitive your vag/cervix are...i can feel the doc touching my cervix but its not painful by any means...

HollieNJax - Monday, 5 May
The internal exam is when they insert their fingers into the vagina to check the cervix to see if it is dilated or thinned out any. It can be pretty uncomfortable if you are tensed up so just try to relax. It only takes a few seconds. They should use a sterile glove to make sure they don't introduce any bacterias or other stuff into the uterus. If you have a doc with long skinny fingers your in luck. Short stubby ones suck!!! It has to be done though so don;t dread it you might get some good news. I go tomorrow and I can't wait until I find out. I'm certain things have been going on down there and I want to know how much!!!

Hey, I am from week 36 and just saw your post about having an internal exam. I just had mine on friday. The strep B swab is a piece of cake but if the doc checks your cervix prepare yourself. I'm not gonna lie, it hurt!!! It was just really uncomfortable accompanied w/ some sharp pain. It is exciting though, at least it was for me because I found out that I am 1 cm dialated and 50% effaced. Also, expect to have some spotting for the rest of the day into the next morning. If you have bright red blood then call your doc but everytime i wiped afterwards it was like a light brown color (old blood) and they said that is perfectly normal. Good luck to you, try not to be worried, it really isnt that bad, it just means that we are almost there!! :)

Wow! You must be so tired at the end of the day! It was ridiculous how tired I was! I teach grade 4/5. I was so lucky to have such an amazingly behaved and polite class this year! The kids and parents threw me a surpise shower on my last day of school. It made me cry (it doesn't take much these days!) Good luck with work (take a day off if you need to!) and at the doctor's!

Hi Elisha,
I feel exactly the same when I get up in middle of the night...I have crazy swelling in my legs. You'd think my giant ankles (cankles really) could support my weight, but they hurt like crazy!
I am a teacher too... are you still working? I just finished up...just in time. Work was becoming unbearable!
