I had been told that I couldn't have children so the arrival of my first son was a complete surprise! I had my first son shortly after I was married, I was 21. My (now ex) husband and I decided to try for another child sooner rather than later as we expected it could take a long time before I fell pregnant again. But instead I fell pregnant really quickly. (I now don't believe what the Doctors said at all). I had another beautiful boy.

A few years after my ex-husband and I split up I met my best friend and soul mate.

He has 5 and a bit children from two previous marriages, 3 boys and 3 girls. I say a bit as his first wife had a son before he met her. But we still count him very much as apart of our family.

I found I was expecting our 1st child only a month after we had started dating. We were very happy as we felt it was a great way for all our children to feel connected to each other. He has been a bundle of energy since they day he arrived.

Now, completely unplanned, I have just discovered that I’m expecting another baby.

I feel like I'm on a rollercoaster of emotions as we had decided that we had more than enough children. Having said that it was my (better) other half who had asked recently if I would like a girl? But I felt with the number of boys that I have, that my chances are very, very slim. So again we decided not to have anymore children.

I honestly couldn't tell you where this pregnancy has come from. All I know is that it has been very determined to be here..

What is MRSA? Well, here it is just crowded and babies go missing if you don't take care and don't follow them the entire time untill they come to the mommy etc. and he thinks I am paranoid but all the woman talk about how their husbands guard the baby untill it reaches them, I did the same with my son, and that was a private hospital!

Oh well. Like you say, men, they don't get the hormones! Got some nice heartburn for a change :-( Lovely.....

Well, gotta go, almost home-time for me.

My2nd - Monday, 6 October
Don't do that ! Ouch! You will induce scratch marks too you know......Not long Em, hang in there!

My2nd - Monday, 6 October
Yay, I guess I also feel that I am beeing a bit misunderstood and glad to hear I am not the only one, perhaps things will be better once we deliver

I don't agree with the kitchen story though, I would say that it should be your choice! Anyway, when we discussed whether to leave the medical aid or not, my husband said we should leave it and that I should go to Karl Bremmer Hospital, which is a filthy goverment hospital, I said to him that I would let him know what I decided seeing as I am the one paying the medical and seeing as I am the one who has to go through a c-section (which is a risk in a goverment hospital) in order to have this baby.

He didn't like it, but I just felt that it should be my decision and now he supports me on that.

Well, good luck and remember that as soon as that baby is born, irrelevant of where it is born, it will be worth all this stress you had to go through.

Take your time to relax and with the contractions, I wouldn't say it is very farr off. If I could try my hand at predicting, I would say I hope the baby comes on Friday 10 October! But hey, the sooner the better, right?

Good luck Emma, thinking of you!

Hi. No, not really. Going to the doc only tomorrow. What, no baby yet?! I thought that we had a discussion that you and hubby were gonna work on that...you know, getting the baby out sooner by some motivational mambo

Just kiddin Glad to hear from you, hope you are well. I will let you know as soon as I am back on Wednesday what the new doctor says. I just hope he understands my need to have an u/s sooner. Oh well, further I had a very eventful weekend with a fight or two with hubby over household chores, I also work and yet I do all the household duties alone, we had a serious chat about that.... lol Well, all turned out well and I am in a good mood because the sun is shining and it is quite hot today, only to rain tomorrow again, but hey, the summer is almost here!

midget gem - Sunday, 5 October

Hi Emma!
Taken to court over head lice!!!!!!!!!! Really? I am very intrigued now to hear what happened! Anyway, it looks as though I have dealt with the problem thank goodness! I have been checking Bethan's hair for the last couple of nights and not found anything. Horrible things!! I did report to the school that I had treated her as I don't fancy inheriting some more!! They have been surprisingly efficient and sent a discreet note home to all parents!

How are you feeling? Any twinges or signs labour may be around the corner? Today is the first day that I have felt truly uncomfortable - my back has been hurting quite a bit and walking has been a little painful. My eldest daughter had been hoping that the baby would be born today, but that was just wishful thinking! I think I am finally ready to finish with being pregnant, now it is just down to the baby to decide what day she would like to see the world for the first time. I am trying to be patient and keep busy so as not to dwell on time passing too much. It gets harder at this point (I seem to remember that from last time!!)

I haven't got any useful advice about getting labour started - other than trying all the standard things - walking, sex, eating spicy food, pineapple etc. I am not sure anything will work if the baby isn't ready. I read somewhere that it is some kind of hormonal change in the baby that dictates labour starting. I am puzzled by the number of women on this site that seem to be having their babies early. Statistics suggest that only 30% of babies are born before their due date and 70% after. On the weekly formum for my week almost everyone is having their babies about 4-7 days early!! Oh well, it is just a case of wait and see! At least my MIL is on the mend, so by the time the baby decides to arrive we will be OK for someone to look after the girls

I hope that you are well and enjoying the weekend. Good luck with kick-starting labour while you are MIL free.
Take care and all best wishes
Val

I haven't been getting any contractions or anything but this last few days it's been pushing down really hard. It was so bad yesterday that i had to come home from town more or less as soon as i arrived because litterally every few steps i had to stop & cross my legs! I must have looked like i was a bit wrong in the head or something! Lol

Like you i'm gonna try keep out & about as much as possible because thats when i feel closer to having it. I never knew before why exactly sex was supposed to help (although i know it works because thats what brought my 1st labour on) but aparently there's something in seemen that softens the cervix!
A few friends have recomended walking up & down the stairs as well so i'll be trying everything!!

I promise i'll definately let you know when anything eventful happens & make sure you do the same! Good luck x

Thx for the comment

Yes, I was quite upset, even with my husband driving I am annoying because I am so super cautious and careful and he can't go too fast then my put my hand on the dashboard in worry. Yay, it is worse since pregnant!

Shame, give that baby some time, maybe not ready to come out juuuuuuuust yet!

Try to enjoy the last couple of uncomfortable days! After the birth, you have a very cute baby and no more baby inside You will miss the little bugger....

Hi! Sorry to hear that you couldn't find out the sex of your baby at the 20 week scan. I had heard that some hospitals don't like to divulge the information but I think it depends on where you are. What we were told at the 20 week scan was confirmed when we had the 3d scan, so it definitely looks as though we will be having another girl. The 3D scans unfortunately are quite expensive, although ours was a cheaper option than some places - it cost us £95. I decided to put the money together as this is our last baby. It was a lot of money to find, but the baby won't need too many things buying for it as we have kept most things from when the other two were small.

Like you, I am hoping that I don't go overdue also. Up until today I had been wishing that I would go into labour sooner rather than later. However, my mother-in-law isn't very well and she was supposed to be looking after the girls when I go in to hospital. We haven't yet got a contingency plan for what to do with the children, so I am hoping that the baby will now hang on for a bit longer until we can either make some other plans or my MIL gets better. Also, my husband has an important meeting at work tomorrow afternoon and again on Tuesday morning.... well, if only we could book a delivery date with the baby - wouldn't that make things easier!!!!

To be honest I am feeling a little stressed today - on top of my MIL being ill, we discovered that my eldest daughter has got head lice (thank goodness I caught them very early and have treated her already). My youngest daughter has just started school part time. She loves it, but I am dreading her going full time from next Monday. I'm not sure if it is as a result of all of this, but for some reason I seem to be suffering from terrible mood swings at the moment and have felt quite fed up for a couple of days!

Anyway, you don't really need to hear all of my woes. In the much broader scale of things in life, everything is fine!! All my troubles are just minor ones!!

When does your partner get home? Have you got any thoughts about when your baby will arrive - do you tend to be early or later or neither? How have you been feeling? Are you desperate for this pregnancy to be over? Sorry, that was about a million questions!! I hope all is well with you.
Best wishes, Valerie

KarenVG - Thursday, 2 October
