Thursday, 3 July i was 2cm dialated when they broke my waters. They went to insert the gel which then takes 6 hours PLUS to open up your cervix but when they checked i was already 2cm dialated so they broke my waters - rest is history as they say

Wednesday, 2 July Hey there! My doctor had me come in for an induction yesterday....they put some pill in my cervix but it only dilated me to a 2 and I was already a 1 1/2......I was there for 12hrs before they sent me home.....she also stripped my membranes twice and still nothing!! If I don't go into labor on my own by friday, then she'll have me come in friday night for an aggressive induction....another words I'm not going home without my baby! How about you.....anything new? erica224 -

Wednesday, 2 July same here, i have a feeling i'll be at least a week late and they don't normally induce you in england until you're two weeks over :'-( i doubt i'm even half a cm dilated. this sucks lol....keep me posted if anything changes and i'll do the same :-) mumtobe4july08 -

Wednesday, 2 July Hi, You don't have to be dialated at all to be induced?? Some women simply don't dialate until they are induced. In my case I have been 1cm for 4 weeks, I have had contractions but nothing is changing and my doctor said If it were going to change it would have by now. There is one thing different they do if you aren't dialated and that is make you go in the hospital the night before so they can give you cervidil, this medicine is a gel they put in your vagina near the cervix that softens and helps ripen the cervix then they will induce with pitocin a few hours later. I hope this helps... Good Luck ooheather -
Friday, 27 June I am almost 39 weeks and at 37 1/2 weeks my baby was measuring at 8lbs 10oz. I had an appt last monday but it wasn't my regular dr because she was in a delivery. I told him that my baby is huge and I wanted to beg my dr. to induce me. He said "your body can make as big of a burger that it wants, but if it's raw in the middle then it's not good" I really wanted to punch him...lol......I have another appt on Monday with my regular dr. so I will be begging her.....I don't want to have a c-section, and I know she's just getting bigger and bigger every day.....she could potentially get up to almost 12lbs....and I am not pushing that out! momof5 -
Friday, 27 June Hello EmilyKay,
I'm also having a larger baby this time, he's measuring 4 weeks ahead of his due date, so we're being induced next week Wednesday on the 39 week mark. They've estimated that he's well over 9 lbs. I'm concerened since my cousin had a scheduled c-section because different doctors told her, that her baby was large and ended up being only 7lbs.14oz.. So how do you trust the estimates to be accurate?
I do believe this is going to be a very large baby since it is our first boy after four girls who were all 8 to 9lbs at full term. I pray your baby is healthy and doesn't haven't any complications during delivery.
Good Luck! ntsparkes -
Tuesday, 24 June my baby is posterior too. i have heard that these babies are more likely to be late arrivers. this is already my longest ever pregnancy and i am getting fed up about the thought of possibly going another 3+ weeks. as for assisted deliveries and c sections, im not sure but i am booked in for a home birth and the hcp's dont seem bothered about the fact that she is posterior. im in uk and they wouldnt allow a home birth if there was much of a risk of needing assistance or a c sec. perhaps its because this isnt my first (i have already been well stretched....lol) is this your first baby? tracmac -
Tuesday, 24 June Hi emilykay, I saw your post in latest comments regarding a posterior baby. My first child was sunny side up and my personal experience just meant a bit of a longer labour with back pain and a little more time pushing him out. Posterior babies usually mean you may get labour pains in your back as well as front and perhaps have to endure a slightly longer labour. If the babies turn the right way as they are being born, forceps, vacum or a c section may not be necessary. Try not to worry too much as I have heard a lot of them do usually turn themselves on their way out. Oh, a good tip is to try any labour position other than lying down so gravity can assist you. I used a birthing stool and it was a huge help. erica224 -

Monday, 2 June I hadn't felt any braxton-hicks-contractions either until yesterday. Suddenly out of nowhere I felt crampy like I had menstrual cramps. I had never felt them before either. I would not worry. I have read in many books that many women never feel them. They are supposed to get stronger in the last month, and you might start to feel them eventually, but I do not believe you should be worried if you haven't felt any yet. Just check with your doc/MW next time you see him/her. CCQ -
