Augustin is now 2 years old. He walks around the house declaring, "Baby in the uterus. Well, no. Maybe. Only sometimes." We tried belly and he seemed distraught (that's where food goes; did mom eat a baby?) and we tried womb, which sent him running into our bedroom. So, uterus it is! If you ask him if he wants a brother or sister, he declares, "Sitser! Maybe brudder... ... ... NO! Sitser!"
I work full-time as a scientific researcher for a Big Ten school and Auggie is loved during the day by an in-home daycare sitter. He's potty training right now and I'm enjoying the reduced loads of cloth diapers as well as the pride he has in his accomplishments. He still hasn't got his two year molars, but his vocab is on par with most four year olds... I guess that makes up for it! :-)
Having morning sickness (all day sickness) SUCKS during the summer. With Auggie (conceived November 2007) all I had to do was walk outside and take a deep breath of cold air. The heat is definitely aggravating this aspect of pregnancy. I'm also not looking forward to skating across the ice on my way to/from bus stops in February. For what it's worth, I fell flat on my face when I was LARGE pregnant with Auggie, and it was summertime!
My husband and I are looking forward to our second all-natural birth (ALL natural) and will be welcoming this baby in our home with the guidance of a duo of midwives. Augustin still finds comfort at the breast and I haven't had any major issues with nursing during the first trimester. He's very accepting of re-latching and now announces "AHH!" before he approaches for a landing. We're doing well in night weaning (week two) which means less physical violence towards mom when I deny him and more acceptance of a mug of water :-) He's also getting better at sitting next to me while nursing instead of across my lap if I'm having a "full feeling" kind of day or letting me adjust his position. The best is when he looks up at me with those still infantile eyes, smiles around my breast, then reaches to my belly button and "tickles" the baby.
