22.5 hours ago Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com
Hi there,
I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.
We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.
If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.
You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Sunday, 24 August thats great that you haven't had to go on it yet : ) so far so good with me too! Ive been having contractions (pretty sure they're just BH still but getting stronger) semi-regularily all week and been havin a few more 'signs' so I'm thinking labour isn't far away. Which is nice, because I'll have managaed to control the GD with no insulin...which also means no induction : ) I've had random high morning numbers still but for the most part nothing worrysome. Had an ultrasound monday the 18th and baby was measuring 6.5 lbs...so I think I'm alright with goin a little early now that I know he's 'big enough'. I have another ultrasound monday, which I guess is one positive to the GD...more chances to see baby : ) Did you get anything sorted out with the C Section problem? or is your Doc still leaning towards one? Hopefully not : ) well, enjoy your ultrasound thursday : ) mommabrandy -
Thursday, 21 August Thank you very much for the response that is what i figured but just wasnt sure. Cause I have actually had 3 dates 9/11 based on 20 weeks u/s, 9/15 based on LMP and 9/17 based on the dr. I have been going by LMP 9/15 this whole time. But I guess he will just come out whenever he wants to the due dates dont really mean too much...lol kt08dec88 -
Monday, 18 August I had a feeling that was the crib it was...I have been searching cribs forever, and that was my favorite, plus has the best reviews and ratings online by far. The only reason im not getting it is because we have a little nursery and i want it to be in white so it doesnt look too crowded. Anywayz...yes ur room is very very nice...Ill be starting mine very soon, and i cant wait! MKsAngel -
Friday, 15 August Thanks so much! I appreciate it. And btw, I love your pic. Your little one's face is sooooooooooo clear! ashaleed -
Saturday, 9 August thats really too bad that you're numbers are getting higher still. Thats what it was like with my first as well. I ended up on insulin with her but still delivered naturally (at 37.5 weeks). She was very healthy and even small for her 'age'. You may end up going into labour earlier as my Doc says that happens quite a bit if you're on insulin. If I end up on insulin this time (which looks like I may not...fingers crossed!) they are going to induce at 38 weeks if I havent gone into labour on my own by then (which both docs are positive I will go on my own before). I plan on delivering this one the good ol' fashioned way as well and there hasn't been/was not any mention of an automatic C section with either pregnancy. Good luck and hopefully you can avoid the C section! Ill keep my fingers crossed for you as well! juic350 -
Thursday, 7 August Awww what a beautiful room. tandiann -
Tuesday, 5 August I think they just either forget how big and unccomfortable they were or they remember but want to think it wasn't so bad by telling random people that they never got that big. Whatever the case, my MIL does this each time I see her and that makes me crazy. I commented that I think this girl may get bigger than my 1st cuz her body just feels so big already and she says 'yeah you're already bigger than you were with him and he was 2 weeks overdue'. Ok, I gained near 40 lbs with #1 and thus far only 25 at most. It just depends who you ask. GP says 25 and OB says 18 as by the time I got in I had already gained 7 lbs. But still, no one wants to hear they are a whale. Even of there is a reason. If I had a big cancerous tumor would you point it out and tell me it was huge. Never, that would be cruel. I see this as not much different. Accept we aren't dying of course. lol. Hormones, huh? MKsAngel -
Monday, 4 August Thank you very much! I really, really appreciate it! diesel21a -
Monday, 28 July yeah tell me about it! I'm just counting the days. I seriously can't wait until this is over it lol. Did you find out if you have to take insulin yet? krystys31 -
Friday, 25 July Today I am feeling great! Actually I was just telling my husband how good this pregnancy has been! I went to the doc today and they said everything looks good! I gained one pound from the last time I was there. I go back in two weeks and then one week after that! Other than that, the only thing that has really bothered me is the massive swelling in the feet.
I am sorry to hear about you GD! I think I would die with no sweets...well at least ice cream! LOL! You seem to be handling it well though! I guess you don't have much choice but like you said...not much longer now! I have 5 more weeks! I am so excited...I can't wait. I just feel like I have so much left to do! Ughhhh!
Talk to you soon! cmmbear -
Friday, 25 July Oh great! I'm glad you found it! I buy stuff off there constantly...it get's addicting. I'm glad I could help. cmmbear -
Thursday, 24 July Emilies room is about finished, I have a few more things to put up on the walls...a shelf and some decorations. Robs grandmother is giving us her glider so I'm waiting on that also. But other that that I'm done. Good luck with your little ones room, it sounds really cute! Have you tried ebay for the border? krystys31 -
Thursday, 24 July
No kidding! Like we don't have anything else to do right? Oh well...what are you gonna do? I guess I will just hope the next one is a girl or sell on ebay. I could probably make a small fortune!
How are you feeling otherwise? krystys31 -
Wednesday, 23 July I guess I COULD take some of the stuff back and trade it in for bigger sizes but what a pain in the a** to try to sort that stuff out and figure out where it came from. Ughhhh! LOL...As I don't have enough stuff to do!

Wednesday, 23 July I'm just really stressed because we don't have the money to go spend that much. I just don't get it though. And I have gotten emails this morning from friends who know that I'm already set on clothes saying that they went and bought her MORE clothes yesterday! I'm happy to see my friends and family members and I'm so greatful for the people that have spent money on things that we really need. Have you put up pics of your little ones room yet? Educator -
Wednesday, 23 July Thanks for the encouragement. I am waiting for the results now... I had to do this with my first baby and passed the 3-hour test. Good to know you don't have to completely cut out all carbs! krystys31 -
Monday, 21 July I had my shower on Saturday and I feel the same way as you! I am VERY greatful to all my friends and family but I didn't get much off my registry. She will never be able to wear all the clothes she got. My husband said we will have to change her clothes every time we change her diaper. I hate to even complain though and sound like such a "b".
cmmbear -
Monday, 21 July That sucks that you didn't get what you need. Me and some of the other girls have been talking about that though. How people WILL NOT buy the things you need off of the registry! I don't get it, I mean why even do a registry if they're not going to get you what you need? Everything we put on ours was stuff we really needed being this is our first baby. I just don't get people! diesel21a -
Monday, 21 July Hi, well now there telling me to go for another sonogram and I'm on insulin seeing a nutritionist and I see gdm doctor every other week. So basically soon I'll be going to my reg doctor once a week and going for monitoring twice a week once I turn 35 weeks. I thought this was a bit much?? no?? ashaleed -
Sunday, 20 July Hi : ) I really can't help you too much with your #'s because where I am (Ontario, Canada) the readings are different. Like, before a meal we're supposed to be under 5.3 and an hour after under 7.8 (so I'm not sure how that translates to your # readings...sorry!). From what you said the 'cutoff' was though it doesn't sound like you #'s are extremely high though so thats a good sign! I had GD with my first pregnancy and ended up on insulin, looks like I might have the same thing happen with this pregnancy. Your nutritionist will be able to give you exact amounts/types and frequencies of meals but mine told me:
**to eat breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and then a bedtime snack. That way it keeps your sugars as 'level' as possible without big drops (from not eating for long periods) or big peaks (from eating TOO much because you're very hungry).
**Switch any grains (bread, pasta etc) to whole wheat and limit them to a max of 2 servings per meal (1 for snacks).
**I find fruits are better to save until later in the day because my morning readings are typically higher and fruit tends to spike sugars quickly.
**Cut out any fruit juice (I pretty much only drink water, milk and the odd *diet* soda).
**Make sure you eat a bedtime snack because if you don't your glucose levels will drop overnight and your body will start releasing sugars to compensate...thus making your morning readings higher (which happens alot, I was told most pregnant women who end up on insulin are put on it mainly because they're morning sugars are too high).
**stay active. Go for walks a few times a day if possible. I go for quite long walks every night and will start in the mornings as well (my morning readings are slowly creeping up again). Basically any excess sugars you can 'burn up' are less sugars your body has to deal with.
Hopefully these things helped, Sorry I wrote you such a novel but I know these were the most helpfull things I was told. Like I said though, I ended up on insulin with my first and this one probably also (currently 32 weeks preg.) My daughter was born at 37.5 weeks and was only 5 lbs 3 oz. She was *perfectly* healthy (just little) and they said I managed the GD so well they couldn't even tell that I had it based on her sugar levels. Everything went back to 100% normal right after I had her. Trust your doctors because they know whats best and how to deal with it. If I end up on insulin again this time I will be induced at 38 weeks (if I haven't gone into labour myself before then), which kinda sucks based on my daughters size at that point, but they docs know best. The aside from testing so much (which is a pain in the a$$ as you know) its really not that bad. You'll get used to the new diet and it really is a very healthy one : ) you'll probably feel great : )...I know I did. The insulin isn't so bad either. If theres anything else you need feel free to ask (i'll try to keep it shorter next time, I promise!) Try to not worry too much and honestly trust your doctors/nutritionist/diabetes specialist...I did and everything worked out perfectly for both me and my daughter : ) Again, sorry for taking up all your posting space!! kristam -
Wednesday, 16 July I am so sorry that you failed.... I can not believe they are making you test your sugar and take a class... Must be so hard to have to do that so close to the end of your pregnancy... I really hope I do not hear anything... I would think I would have by now if I had failed, but then again I thought I was in the clear with the one hour when they called me out of the blue, and told me I had to take the three hour... Keep me posted on how everything goes with the class. Again I am so sorry! kristam -
Monday, 14 July Yeah I went and took mine last Monday and have not heard anything so I am hoping that means everything is okay... How else are things going for you... Other then having to take the 3 hour test like I did...
