Scheduled c-section date: Tues, Dec 2, 10am... woo hoo!

12 days to go!

It's a girl! Again!

I'm Amy. I'm 38 and pregnant with my third child. If you ask my teenaged son, my husband Bob and I are hopeless perverts for "carrying on like that at our advanced ages". Maybe my son's right: there will be a nearly-16-year age gap between our oldest and our youngest, with a three-year-old thrown into the mix too! He considers it the height of rudeness that we are supplying him with another baby sister and not the brother he had in mind. Ah well, life is tough, no? My husband and I have been married almost 17 years and tortured my parents by living together for a few years before that at the university where we met. In addition to our two human children, we have three canine ones: Basil, the always-cheerful epileptic cocker spaniel (who happily responds to "Bubba", "Banana" or anything that begins with "B" at this point) and Hoover, an aging and exceedingly hairy shepherd/Yeti(?) mix named after our vacuum cleaner for good reason. (That having been said, I'm embarrassed to admit that, at pushing 90 pounds, she also answers to "Large Marge". As in 'big as a barge'. Limericks are continually written in her honor. No offense intended to any profile readers named Marge, naturally.) The latest addition, as of August 18th, is a cocker spaniel puppy named Snickers, or "Snick" for short. Ask me how pleased I am about Snick's "excitable bladder". Buy stock in paper towels.

'Water' the odds? It's been a weird pregnancy. When we had our CVS testing way back in May of this year, the genetic team ruptured our amniotic sac and we lost most of the fluid around the baby. It's been a long recovery period, during most of which they thought the baby would die, but the tear seems to be healing and our fluid has coming back, so now our prognosis is very hopeful indeed!

Amniotic fluid update 7/1/08: We're up to 11cm! Two weeks ago we were at 4cm and last week it was 9cm, so we're on an upward trend! Hooray! If we get to 13 we'll be considered "normal" again!

Amniotic fluid update 7/14/08: Hmm. Still at 11. But hey, it hasn't gone down!

Amniotic fluid update 8/3/08: HOORAY! 14.8cm!! So we totally exceeded the "normal" mark! The baby is even ahead of things for growth. So it would appear we are out of the woods!

Amniotic fluid update 9/2/08: Well, it's official. We're out of the woods! We've gone a whole month without losing fluid. In fact, we have SO much amniotic fluid they didn't even bother measuring it this time. Within a nanosecond, the tech exclaimed we have more than we need and there wasn't even any point in measuring

Amniotic fluid update 10/1/08: A whole month since our last fluid measurement, but we're at 15.6cm, hooray! On today's scans we could clearly see her lungs "practice breathing", moving the fluid in and out, so we're confident that her lungs are on track despite early fears. Two months to go!

Update 11/11/08: Still near 15cm of fluid, which is actually higher than most pregnancies at this stage.Go figure! Tiana has gone head-down and is enjoying making my cervix feel like it's being poked with a sharp stick. Joy. Have had a little spotting, so doc says things could technically start at anytime; she seems to think I may start early.

The Name: Tiana Claire. Tiana is a name my husband is fixated on; he likes Tia as a nickname, though we like Tiana as a formal name. Meanings of Tiana include:

Russia: short for 'Tatiana'. Cherokee Indian: 'beautiful soul'. India: 'princess'. Greece: 'highest beauty'. England: variation of 'Diana".

The 'Claire' middle name is after the protagonist of Diana Gabaldon's 'Outlander' series of books. (Read them, or forever hang your head in shame...) I always pick my kids' middle names after my favorite literary characters.

How`s my pregnancy doing?

Hello lovie!
How are things with you?
I'm so uncomfy!
I'mhoping that the mad movements Gabriel has been doing all day is a sign he is turning back round! This breech position is not good. I have a head under my ribs which feels as though its turning from side to side all the time and he is kicking the heck out of my bladder. It's great to feel him move, but I wish he'd be a little bit more gentle!
How is Tiana coming on? Not ong now till your c-section date! You all organised?
Louise x

I have a feeling one of these days you are going to get a ton of old messages from me because I make them too long and lose connection as I just did again, ugh. I will be glad to be home so I can talk to you better again on my own computer.......

Hey! I love your story! You are so funny. My boys are excited about having a little sister. My oldest, of course, never has too much to say about anything unless its soccer or playing games online. They haven't scheduled my c-section yet! I went last week to the doctor and was told at 36 wks they would schedule the calendar for the big day! I cannot wait! This 40 year old body can't take too much more. I'm tired, achy and my freaking feet are killing me. I can barely roll out of bed or even get into it. I agree, its very nice to email someone more my age that's practically starting over too. It's weird. This pregnancy was surely a surprise but I know she is God's gift and was meant to be here so I'm embracing her with all the love in the world. She will keep me young! lol... So how do you feel these days? Tired too?

Hi, just wanted to let you know we had Emile Marie on November 5, I just turned 28 weeks. They changed my diagnosis to preeclampsia, which they say caused the fluid problem and her not to grow very much she was 1 lb 3 oz, 10 1/2 inches long, tiny tiny. She is donig well. They were actually happy because they said her insides are mature as a 28 weeker which is good. We are saying lots and lots of prayers, she is in God's hands. She is beautiful. We can't wait to bring her home in a few months. Kristen.

Ugh. That made me sooo mad. I am fine. Turns out the cramps was from me dilating. It was all just bad timing. Still not in labor tho. I go tomorrow for a c-section bc he is breech. So hopefully he can hang out til then. LoL.

oh wow thanks for that info on the insurance. i've looked into anthem a little but I didn't see that plan so I'm going to go look for it again and I'll probably call an agent in the morning. I hate to say that I am a bit ignorant when it comes to health insurance. I'm used to getting it from work but now that I'm not employed I feel like I really need to educate myself in this area.
