Scheduled c-section date: Tues, Dec 2, 10am... woo hoo!

12 days to go!

It's a girl! Again!

I'm Amy. I'm 38 and pregnant with my third child. If you ask my teenaged son, my husband Bob and I are hopeless perverts for "carrying on like that at our advanced ages". Maybe my son's right: there will be a nearly-16-year age gap between our oldest and our youngest, with a three-year-old thrown into the mix too! He considers it the height of rudeness that we are supplying him with another baby sister and not the brother he had in mind. Ah well, life is tough, no? My husband and I have been married almost 17 years and tortured my parents by living together for a few years before that at the university where we met. In addition to our two human children, we have three canine ones: Basil, the always-cheerful epileptic cocker spaniel (who happily responds to "Bubba", "Banana" or anything that begins with "B" at this point) and Hoover, an aging and exceedingly hairy shepherd/Yeti(?) mix named after our vacuum cleaner for good reason. (That having been said, I'm embarrassed to admit that, at pushing 90 pounds, she also answers to "Large Marge". As in 'big as a barge'. Limericks are continually written in her honor. No offense intended to any profile readers named Marge, naturally.) The latest addition, as of August 18th, is a cocker spaniel puppy named Snickers, or "Snick" for short. Ask me how pleased I am about Snick's "excitable bladder". Buy stock in paper towels.

'Water' the odds? It's been a weird pregnancy. When we had our CVS testing way back in May of this year, the genetic team ruptured our amniotic sac and we lost most of the fluid around the baby. It's been a long recovery period, during most of which they thought the baby would die, but the tear seems to be healing and our fluid has coming back, so now our prognosis is very hopeful indeed!

Amniotic fluid update 7/1/08: We're up to 11cm! Two weeks ago we were at 4cm and last week it was 9cm, so we're on an upward trend! Hooray! If we get to 13 we'll be considered "normal" again!

Amniotic fluid update 7/14/08: Hmm. Still at 11. But hey, it hasn't gone down!

Amniotic fluid update 8/3/08: HOORAY! 14.8cm!! So we totally exceeded the "normal" mark! The baby is even ahead of things for growth. So it would appear we are out of the woods!

Amniotic fluid update 9/2/08: Well, it's official. We're out of the woods! We've gone a whole month without losing fluid. In fact, we have SO much amniotic fluid they didn't even bother measuring it this time. Within a nanosecond, the tech exclaimed we have more than we need and there wasn't even any point in measuring

Amniotic fluid update 10/1/08: A whole month since our last fluid measurement, but we're at 15.6cm, hooray! On today's scans we could clearly see her lungs "practice breathing", moving the fluid in and out, so we're confident that her lungs are on track despite early fears. Two months to go!

Update 11/11/08: Still near 15cm of fluid, which is actually higher than most pregnancies at this stage.Go figure! Tiana has gone head-down and is enjoying making my cervix feel like it's being poked with a sharp stick. Joy. Have had a little spotting, so doc says things could technically start at anytime; she seems to think I may start early.

The Name: Tiana Claire. Tiana is a name my husband is fixated on; he likes Tia as a nickname, though we like Tiana as a formal name. Meanings of Tiana include:

Russia: short for 'Tatiana'. Cherokee Indian: 'beautiful soul'. India: 'princess'. Greece: 'highest beauty'. England: variation of 'Diana".

The 'Claire' middle name is after the protagonist of Diana Gabaldon's 'Outlander' series of books. (Read them, or forever hang your head in shame...) I always pick my kids' middle names after my favorite literary characters.

How`s my pregnancy doing?

Eloises-mummy! - Thursday, 23 October
ahaha 88 i hate to point out i was only 1 then lol. Sorry i couldnt help myself. Well i guess you'll have to wait and see what i send. I think ill send my address private though lol. I dont want some crazy lady like myself finding it and sending me weird things like fruit pastilles lol.
Well i might try horse riding as a hobby, im not so sure about keeping one though lol more of a money factor. I used to ride when i was younger but that was like 14years ago. I requested a rowing machine for xmas so that will help with the weight factor. Im not fat but i do love my food lol. i can maintain a weight really well (except in pregnancy lol) but losing it, not but best atrobute.

What else do you desire besides those good ol fruit pastilles. I always hated how they put more of the lemon and lime and orange ones in than the blackcurrent and the red ones what ever flavour they were lol.

well it works both ways so you'll have to let me know where to sent the pastilles
Im absolutely gutted we live, well countries apart. There are very few people who understand what im talking about. Okay i am making an assumption that you understand me. You do dont you? lol i think it might because your british. I have plenty of english friends on here but not too many actually talk that often.
Oh by the way i would love to be you and be a few lbs lighter after baby. I lost 2stone pretty much straight after but im still about 2stone heavier still ive never been this heavy EVER. It sucks. lol Does horse riding really keep you slim. Ive been thinking of taking it up as a hobby as i have no hobbies and am lacking in friends who have any time for a mother like me lol. How sad and lonely does that make me sound. I asure you its not that bad lol.
Aja is certainly a brave girl. Im not one to shy away from needles but i cant say there the greatest thing. Does everyone get them over there. Im one of the lucky ones that i get it for free as i have asthma or you have to be of the older variety. say over 65 lol. or you have to pay £15 for it. Cheek. But then again id rather fork out £15 that live with the flu for a couple of weeks. Especially now i have little eloise. Anyhow i must top talking crap otherwise ill never get these pictures up.

lol Fruit Pastilles was exactly what i was thinking. I thought i might send them ever since you mentioned about them lol. Dw you dont need to send me anything. But ill chuck a few of those your ways.
Only 5lbs thats just not fair. lol Your one of those women who we love to hate lol. Your going to have lost like about 2stone after shes out. Not fair plus you have a husband who just books you into a spa. You lucky devil lol. Im ever so jelous. and the t-shirt is a quality idea.
I have some good news it looks like i might be getting married in july next year. Fingers crossed lol. Im so excited lol. Its not going to be the most extravegant (i know i cant spell lol) but it will still be great.
Eloise sat up by her self yesterday. I caught some pictures of it so ill put those up soon.
Hope today was better for you.

Thanks for answering my question, it was very helpful

kater - Tuesday, 21 October
thanks for you comment on my in-law question, its nice to see im not the only one dealing with this.
its just hurtful when one will promise they will do something, not do it, and then we are left explaining to our daughter (and soon we will have to explain to our baby) why so-and so didnt show up. they promise out 6 year old so many things and almost never deliver, often with extremely lame excuses.
i know i should just expect nothing, and if they do come through once in a while, i should treat it as a bonus.
thanks for being supportive,
kate

I will definitely get the book. I'm trying to stay calm and focus, but the fear of the unknown is getting the better of me lately. Off to Amazon...Thanks so much, I really appreciate it.

mommyoftwo* - Tuesday, 21 October
hello again how are you doing?and thanks for commenting on my question but i am not breast feeding so thats whats scaring me alittle. i sort of have no reason not to have it so late and i am praying i am not pregnant again i dont think my body could handle that so soon after a c-section that would be three sections in less the 3 years!!
