pregnancy week by week

Hi everyone, my name is Janine. Thanks for stopping by my page.

We found out today (8th June 2008) that we are pregnant for the second time and are overjoyed but terrified at the same time.

Sadly our first baby had to go to heaven at 13 weeks. We discovered at our scan that our little bub had Anencephaly, a fatal neural tube defect which causes the head and brain not to form - a condition totally incompatible with life. We therefore had no choice but to say goodbye to our little bundle of joy and opt for a d&c on the 29th February. Our hearts were broken by this terrible experience.

We now have an Angel in heaven and we have taken many blessings from the 3 months our little baby had with us. That little person will always have a special place in our hearts.

We are so grateful for the wonderful second chance we have been given and can only hope and pray that all unfolds well this time around.

What follows is a poem a lovely friend from this site sent to me. It brought comfort to me and I hope it will do the same for others who have experienced a loss.

I did not die young.

I lived the span of my life in your body,

And within your love.

There are many who have lived long lives

And have not been as loved as me.

If you would honour me, then speak my name,

And number me among your family.

If you would honour me, then try to live in love,

For in that love, I live.

Never ever doubt that we will meet again.

Until that happy day, I will grow with God

And wait for you

If you are interested, all my updates are in my blog section on the right.

Best of Luck to everyone trying for a baby and Congratulations to all those with a little bundle of joy on the way!

Hi Janine, thanks for checking in on me. I really appreciate it! Well, I am in 4 DPO right now. My cycle has been a bit messed up though. I thought it was all back to normal and going well, but when I was mid cycle I suddenly started spotting and I passed a big clot. It was all a bit scary and brought some not so nice memories back. I am not sure if it was leftover placenta (I hope not) or as Vikke suggested an incomplete AF. I will talk to my hematologist about it when I see her in a couple of weeks. Fortunately the spotting somehow stopped every second night and we were able to BD I am feeling quite hopeful, probably too much...

How are you doing?? Are you feeling well? I am so happy for you!!!

Love and hugs,
Karin

Congratulations! I am so happy for you, and will keep you and your husband in my thoughts! I know its hard not to worry, but the odds are your favor that this little one will be strong and healthy and be ready to come out and meet you in nine months!

Thanks for checking in!! Doing well here. So far, no spotting or bleeding so I am thankful for that. I woke up a bit nauseated this morning. Hope it's not the onset of morning sickness. My mother said she never had it throughout her entire pregnancy, so I was hoping to dodge that bullet. I guess only time will tell.

How about you? Feeling good? Have a super nap. I just got up for the morning, but I plan on taking my afternoon nap, as well!

Yeah I didnt tell anyone really either. Except my hubby, but he kept telling to to stop talking about because he didnt want me to get my hopes up, you know? But I secretly knew:) With our daughter my grandmother had a dream of fish, and with 4 of the cousins she guessed them too. And sure enough we were prego:) This time I think it was more personal between up above and myself. Weve had a few convo's about my desires:) And sure enough they were answered. You know that time that you truly know that you ready? For everything to come, I dont even care the sex. Just a healthy little baby! I was an only child raised by my father and I dont really have a relationship with my mother, so it is so nice to first have a girl that I can fix what my mother broke and now Im going to have a sibling for my daughter and a full house:) I cant wait! Dont get me wrong there are moments that I question myself about how Im going to be as a mother of 2. But its the hormones talking cause I wasnt saying that before we got pregnant:) I am fully confident in myself as a mother though, Ive learned from my moms mistakes and my dads doing, you know? Well I'll end this novel...lol

yes about the kicking a couple of other girls have said they have experienced it too. its unbelievable, i cant sleep at night sometimes, not because hes keeping me up but i just cant stop watching my moving belly. i'm in ore. i feel like i've won the lottery with this baby and dont know how to explain it other than my cup overfloweth. theres been times in my life where i've wondered if i'd ever meet anyone etc etc. and here i am loved, secure, in an amasing relationship growing a baby. having a child kinda makes the world make sense. do you know what i mean?? xxxxxxxxxxx

i know you have been through so much but maybe now you need to have a little faith. this baby needs a strong mummy with a positive mental outlook. this is a time to celebrate not to fear did you mention that you went to the birth co centre in london? harley street? i've just booked my 4d there. although for my earlier scans i would always use the fetal medical centre which is in the same building but floor below. maybe just wait until week 12 and do private as well? my pics from the private were amasing and so were the team xxxx

It is very exciting! I'm already jumping ahead of myself and can't wait for the gender ultrasound..I think once I go for my first appt and get a firm due date and see the heartbeat, then I will want it to slow down b/c this is our last, so I'm really trying to take it all in. I still can't believe I'm preggo and it's only been a wk since we found out and it seems like it's been 4ever (probably b/c we've been planning since Aug 07 for a spring baby, but couldn't take it anymore and just decided to try earlier and BAM--now it seems surreal!!!)

Goodluck with pregnancy #2. I am also pregnant again after losing my 1st @ 13 weeks also so know this time is exciting and scary all at once.
I loved the poem here it is beautiful and exactly how i feel! Most people wanted us to forget what happened and "move on" but this little piece of our hearts will never go away.
I hope everything works out for us both. We are due within 2 days of each other so will most definitely keep track of your progress.
Take Care,

hey... I'm pretty sure things are the same here as well. I'm not sure what dr I want to go with yet so I made appt's with two who come highly recommended.. My first appt is June 19th and the other on july 2nd.. I guess I'm going to decide who I feel more comfortable with then.. I never really liked my first Dr and after the last experience I've decided to start over fresh.. I think I'll have an ultrasound at 12 weeks and then a level 2 ultrasound at 18 to 20 weeks.. so it's not really different..Sounds like February is a popular month for your family:) I think it's meant to be... Well, keep me poste! Kelly
