pregnancy week by week

Hi everyone, my name is Janine. Thanks for stopping by my page.

We found out today (8th June 2008) that we are pregnant for the second time and are overjoyed but terrified at the same time.

Sadly our first baby had to go to heaven at 13 weeks. We discovered at our scan that our little bub had Anencephaly, a fatal neural tube defect which causes the head and brain not to form - a condition totally incompatible with life. We therefore had no choice but to say goodbye to our little bundle of joy and opt for a d&c on the 29th February. Our hearts were broken by this terrible experience.

We now have an Angel in heaven and we have taken many blessings from the 3 months our little baby had with us. That little person will always have a special place in our hearts.

We are so grateful for the wonderful second chance we have been given and can only hope and pray that all unfolds well this time around.

What follows is a poem a lovely friend from this site sent to me. It brought comfort to me and I hope it will do the same for others who have experienced a loss.

I did not die young.

I lived the span of my life in your body,

And within your love.

There are many who have lived long lives

And have not been as loved as me.

If you would honour me, then speak my name,

And number me among your family.

If you would honour me, then try to live in love,

For in that love, I live.

Never ever doubt that we will meet again.

Until that happy day, I will grow with God

And wait for you

If you are interested, all my updates are in my blog section on the right.

Best of Luck to everyone trying for a baby and Congratulations to all those with a little bundle of joy on the way!

Thanks for your messgae. I think I will be 12 weeks and 1 day on the day of the US. I can see why we have to wait from a cost point of view, but its still not fair

Only 3 more sleeps for you now Let me know how it goes.

So glad I'm not the only one who feels crazy, wants to sleep all the time, and feels like their boobs are being held hostage.
Thanks!
It's so nice to know that I'm not alone.
Now if we could just have pregnant bellies... it would all be so worth it- because other women would understand our pain... right now people just think I've been eating too many hamburgers.

I saw it on someone elses profile and couldn't find it either so i just googled her name, just copy it from my profile and you should be able to find her. Just a bit of fun i guess. Good luck for your next scan, mine is today. Will update everyone once i get back.
Can't wait!

Thanks hun, I hope you're right. I can't believe you're already 12 weeks! Can't wait to hear about your scan!

During my 10 week scan my doctor was really just looking for a heartbeat and did not do much else. During the NT scan at 12 weeks the technician really examined the baby from head to butt and enlarged the picture quite a bit so she could see everything. I think that that's why the 10 week and 12 week photo look so different. Still, I am SURE the little bean did a LOT of growing during those two weeks. He's still growing at an exponential rate, as my tummy appears to be growing! LOL (either that, or all the fine dining we have been doing-BLUSH).

You're right... some days it seems to be going sooooo slow and I feel like I'll never get to the end of the first tri-mester. But I can't believe I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow.... that seems pretty amazing.
I want time to go quickly so that I'll be out of the first tri-mester and so that my belly will look more pregnant.... but I'm not looking forward to starting school at all.... so I'm hoping that time stands still as well.
It's tough isn't it? Wanting to wish time away on somedays.... and on others you just want to cherish every moment.
You keep in touch & let me know how your appointment goes.... although I'm already confident that things will be as perfect as can be. You take good care of yourself and the little one! ~ Jamie

You'll be just fine this time around! The abnormality that you had before was rare and you've been taking your prenatals for months.... so all will be okay. I'm so excited to hear your good news.
I know how anxious you must be though.... I get the same way before every appointment.... I'm terrified that something will be wrong. It's horrible.
But after the appointment.... I'm a whole new woman.... and you will be too.
