pregnancy week by week

Hi everyone, my name is Janine. Thanks for stopping by my page.

We found out today (8th June 2008) that we are pregnant for the second time and are overjoyed but terrified at the same time.

Sadly our first baby had to go to heaven at 13 weeks. We discovered at our scan that our little bub had Anencephaly, a fatal neural tube defect which causes the head and brain not to form - a condition totally incompatible with life. We therefore had no choice but to say goodbye to our little bundle of joy and opt for a d&c on the 29th February. Our hearts were broken by this terrible experience.

We now have an Angel in heaven and we have taken many blessings from the 3 months our little baby had with us. That little person will always have a special place in our hearts.

We are so grateful for the wonderful second chance we have been given and can only hope and pray that all unfolds well this time around.

What follows is a poem a lovely friend from this site sent to me. It brought comfort to me and I hope it will do the same for others who have experienced a loss.

I did not die young.

I lived the span of my life in your body,

And within your love.

There are many who have lived long lives

And have not been as loved as me.

If you would honour me, then speak my name,

And number me among your family.

If you would honour me, then try to live in love,

For in that love, I live.

Never ever doubt that we will meet again.

Until that happy day, I will grow with God

And wait for you

If you are interested, all my updates are in my blog section on the right.

Best of Luck to everyone trying for a baby and Congratulations to all those with a little bundle of joy on the way!

OK. It's official- that is baby belly!!!! Wooohooooo! xx

GreenWood - Sunday, 20 July
Well I can't quite believe it as I've done NO training whatsoever but I managed to run the whole 5km without stopping in 30 minutes!!!!! I'm so thrilled and proud of myself.... And I've raised nearly £400! Anyway. In regards to trying again, I haven't been told anything directly just read in the leaflets I was given to wait as you say for 1 cycle. But I've also read that the main reason for that, at least after such an early uncomplicated miscarriage, is that it makes it easier to date the subsequent pregnancy. So I'm not too fussed, as I always get mittelschmerz pains when I ovulate, and so J and I are content to just jump back in! But how are you feeling at the moment? Em x

Of course you're anxious..... But I still think the odds are in your favour Janine.... I have a very good feeling about your pregnancy Janine... Positive thoughts, now!! My blood test was fine. I'm a regular blood donor, so that stuff doesn't faze me. It all came back clear- meaning it confirmed that my hormone levels have returned to normal. The nurse i sw on the ward was really nice. She told me that when I get pregnant again I'l be entitled to an early scan, so that's really reassurring. Anyway, gotta go as I'm in the middle of cooking dinner. I'm running the Race for Life tomorrow. Wish me luck! Em x

Thank you for the compliments on our nursery! And yes, sometimes I am TOO organized but I think the baby will change that soon. How are you doing?? I see you are about to hit 10 weeks!!!

Hey Janine. Doing well thanks... Had a lovely time last night over dinner with our closest friends. And it was really nice t talk in person to them and just relax and laugh. I'm off for my blood test at the hospital in a mo. How are YOU doing Mrs 9 weeks?!? Em x

roosa - Saturday, 19 July
Hi Janine, I actually have to correct you... Women have different luteal phase length. The luteal phase usually lasts from 12-14 days, but may last from 10-16 days. The luteal phase length is however constant for each woman, rarely changing by more than a day or two from cycle to cycle for the same woman. Last month mine was only 9 days. That can be a reason for infertility so if it keeps up a doctor visit might be worth it... But just wanted to let you know it completely varies from woman to woman.

I have never had a cycle longer than 28 days and today is day 28 - and 11DPO. Still no AF (it is close to dinner time) but also no positive test this morning. Trying to stay hopeful for a positive test tomorrow!

Are you doing well? I hope so.

Love,
Karin

Hello, I just wanted to thank you all for your support over the last week. The hospital have offered to carry out some tests on me to try to find out if there is anything obvious wrong. I'm not even sure at this point if I want to be tested but I have agreed to an appointment initially. I won't be trying for another baby anytime soon anyway. I need a rest from all of this. So I'll be about, but just not as often. Thanks again for all your help. x Jan x
