Hi everyone, my name is Janine. Thanks for stopping by my page.
We found out today (8th June 2008) that we are pregnant for the second time and are overjoyed but terrified at the same time.
Sadly our first baby had to go to heaven at 13 weeks. We discovered at our scan that our little bub had Anencephaly, a fatal neural tube defect which causes the head and brain not to form - a condition totally incompatible with life. We therefore had no choice but to say goodbye to our little bundle of joy and opt for a d&c on the 29th February. Our hearts were broken by this terrible experience.
We now have an Angel in heaven and we have taken many blessings from the 3 months our little baby had with us. That little person will always have a special place in our hearts.
We are so grateful for the wonderful second chance we have been given and can only hope and pray that all unfolds well this time around.
What follows is a poem a lovely friend from this site sent to me. It brought comfort to me and I hope it will do the same for others who have experienced a loss.
I did not die young.
I lived the span of my
life in your body,
And within your love.
There are many who have
lived long lives
And have not been as
loved as me.
If you would honour me,
then speak my name,
And number me among
your family.
If you would honour me,
then try to live in love,
For in that love, I
live.
Never ever doubt that

Thank you! yes, I'll have another scan somewhere in the 16-20 week range as well... I think it will be a level 2 and they'll look at all 4 chambers of the heart, the brain, etc.... but yes, we are very happy here... I wish I had a computer scanner so that I could post the pics we got yesterday but I don't.... when is your appt. again??

IT WENT GREAT!!!! Thank you for thinking of me... I'm going to post a blog later but everything looks fine so far :).... The ultrasound was very detailed and we saw the baby doing the cutest things (sucking it's thumb, crossing it's legs, rolling, etc..) The head was formed well and when the Dr measured the back of the neck it appeared to be very LOW risk for having downs syndrome :).... The Dr even said that it looks like a girl :) (He said not to paint a bedroom yet though)..... I'm just so excited.... Keep me posted on your appointment.. I'm sure it will be fine too...

oh, yeah, i haven't gotten any little things saying you posted any blogs, but I'll go check it out later. Motherhood is treating me great. the love you feel... it's just indescribable. a 100 percent worth all the nine months of worry and stress.
i will be thinking of you on the 12th. Its very normal to worry. I worried up until I heard her cry. I felt like i was gonna throw up the day we went for our scan. I wasn't being completely negative, but I wasnt really thinking positive either. I was kinda dead... no thoughts at all. I just went in waiting for the verdict. oh, and when they told me everything looked good, the wave of relief that came over me was unbelievable. We had family with us, so i composed myself, but when I got home and i was alone, I cried for an hour i was so happy.
I think you will have the same great results. your on your folic acid and stuff, so chances are very good that all will turn out well. I had felt the same way, that if the baby had the same problem, that I wasnt going to try again, but in the back of my mind I knew I would, because I have always wanted nothing more then to be a wife and a mother. Those are the two things i have strived for in life, so I can die happy now. lol. Well, I'll stop blabbing now. :)
Glad you like the pics. We just had them done yesterday. i have a million more on disc but we only got some of them printed. i have your email so I will send you some. They look weird when uploaded on here. Not as clear.

thats so heartbreaking.. im sure it will all be fine and you will be thrilled! .. i must admit i was terrified that they were going to say the baby had died i had a really sickening feeling - it must be on every mummys mind before they get checked.. try not let what happened before play on your mind.. fate would not be that cruel xxxx

aw you will love it.. my wee one had the hiccups - ive been feeling so detached from this baby with worry and now im actually starting to think.. bloody hell i am pregnant!! - with a REAL BABY!! haha
the weird thing was as i had to get scanned twice the second sonographer was the evil bitch one that was so so patronising to me the first time.. she must have not recognised me as she was really nice total jekyll and hyde.. showed scott the hands and it sucking its thumb took ages showing all the bits of its body hips and and ears and everything - when all she was actually meant to do was measure it and send me on my way.. VERY STRANGE xx

I do feel like it was only a few days ago since I was last wondering around complaining about swollen ankles and being a general grump-lol But you do get a lot of privileges when pregnant so I am looking forward to people being a lot more helpful and expecting a little less of me again - yeay!
Sorry that your first wee angel didn't make it here, and I am keeping fingers crossed that all goes well for the scan at 13 weeks. Take care and keep in touch.

Hiya. Thanks for your congrats, its really great of you! I have booked my appt with the doc for wed so hopefully will get the ball rolling. I don't know how I am going to wait until 12 week scan now :o) Yes, I was taken aback with that woman commenting about boasting when we get our BFP but from the responses I have she is in the minority thankfully!
