pregnancy week by week

Hi everyone, my name is Janine. Thanks for stopping by my page.

We found out today (8th June 2008) that we are pregnant for the second time and are overjoyed but terrified at the same time.

Sadly our first baby had to go to heaven at 13 weeks. We discovered at our scan that our little bub had Anencephaly, a fatal neural tube defect which causes the head and brain not to form - a condition totally incompatible with life. We therefore had no choice but to say goodbye to our little bundle of joy and opt for a d&c on the 29th February. Our hearts were broken by this terrible experience.

We now have an Angel in heaven and we have taken many blessings from the 3 months our little baby had with us. That little person will always have a special place in our hearts.

We are so grateful for the wonderful second chance we have been given and can only hope and pray that all unfolds well this time around.

What follows is a poem a lovely friend from this site sent to me. It brought comfort to me and I hope it will do the same for others who have experienced a loss.

I did not die young.

I lived the span of my life in your body,

And within your love.

There are many who have lived long lives

And have not been as loved as me.

If you would honour me, then speak my name,

And number me among your family.

If you would honour me, then try to live in love,

For in that love, I live.

Never ever doubt that we will meet again.

Until that happy day, I will grow with God

And wait for you

If you are interested, all my updates are in my blog section on the right.

Best of Luck to everyone trying for a baby and Congratulations to all those with a little bundle of joy on the way!

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm so happy we actually have a Byrne Dairy store right next to our house and they sell chocolate milk made with skim milk by the gallon. (In case you don't know Byrne Dairy is a big dairy distributer in NY). I hope you are doing well after your passing your angle's due date.

Yeah, I can tell you are very thin to begin with so it may take a bit more time for it to be obvious to other people that you are pregnant. I had another friend who was very, very thin and she used to waddle a bit and hold her belly when she would get into a booth at a restaurant. I thought it was the cutest thing, but her husband would always say, "Honey, you look silly doing that. No one knows your pregnant." You are right, though, give it just a few more weeks and your baby bump will get much more obvious to the outside world. The only reason mine is obvious is because I had a big belly to begin with and now it has just gotten more round and hard. LOL. Three cheers for the baby bumps!

Oh, Janine, I look like I am 6 months pregnant. My actual baby bump is not that big, but it is pushing all my fat and internal organs up and out so I look a lot bigger than I should at this point. I guess that's what I get for being 25 lbs. overweight before pregnancy. LOL. In any case, I sure do look cute in maternity clothes. Hehe. Your bump is coming along nicely!
