I just had a C-section last month when I had my little girl. I wont lie, it wasnt the easiest thing ive ever done...but it really wasnt all that
bad either! I didnt like the IV, it was uncomfortable...but im not good with needles. The cathater wasnt too bad...it pinches a little when they put it in/take it out. And when they empty the bag and cap it off...it feels "weird" and you feel like your peeing everywhere...lol.
In my case, i got a spinal...it wasnt as bad as i thought it would be...of course you just cant move when they do it. (i jumped the 1st time they tried!) When their done they lay you down on the table...and in less then a minute you cant feel a thing from your boobs down.
All you feel is pressure during the entire c-section...you hear suction and all kinds of things...no pain! And then...WHALA...out comes baby!...within 45 minutes! They sew you up and put you on a wheel-away bed and take you back to your room for recovery. They give you VERY well working painkillers, just make sure you take them when you need them...i went too long in between and its not pleasent...VERY PAINFUL! Its hard to get comfortable while trying to sleep if your a side-sleeper like me...you have to lay on your back for at least a day or two. Walking to the bathroom after my cathater was taken out was pretty uncomfortable the first couple days...the last couple days it wasnt too bad at all. AGAIN, make sure you take your painkillers as often as you need them! Done be like me, lol. Walk as soon as you feel comfortable...its the fastest way to heal and it feels good to get up after laying in a bed soo long...and you feel "strong" when you do it...at least I did...I was walking the 2nd day...slow, but doing it! =D
I know your scared...so was I...I had my daughter 5 weeks early...i was leaking amniotic fluid and had no idea that i would have her THAT DAY! It just kinda happened...and it was CRAZY!!! Dont be scared...you will look back and say..."I DID IT"..."I HAD A BABY!!!"...It really is an amazing feeling!!! =D

When I was pregnant I thought having a c-section was the worst thing that could happen to me during labor and I was determined to go vaginal. After 22 hours of labor I knew worse things could happen and the doc was starting to worry about my little girls health. So I had anunplanned c-section. They do give you a catheder but if you have an epidurial they give you one anyway. It doesn't hurt (b/c you are numb) and it's kinda nice for the first time in months to not have to get up and pee every half hour! You can feel some pressure when they take the baby out of you and when they stitch you back up. When you first hear and see your little one you completley forget they are doing anything to you. Afterwards I felt guilty b/c it took them only 39 minutes to get her out and sew me up and all I had to do was lay there while they did all the work. Take the medication they give to you and don't be afraid to ask for help with anythnig.

Did they schedule a c-section because your baby is so big?? OMG! That freaks me out! I don't want a c-section but my baby is so big I am so afraid that I am going to have to have one. He said that if we induce there is a higher chance of a c-section than if I just let it go naturally...OMG! I am starting to get nervous. If you don't mind my asking...why didn't inducing work with your 15yr old??

angelfinx - Saturday, 28 June
Oh; yeah - just wanted to let you know.. my birth story is on my page.. I tried to be as detailed about the procedure as I could, from my point of view. So if you want to see how it went, feel free to peek.

angelfinx - Saturday, 28 June
I had a c-section with my daughter, almost 3 weeks ago. The cath is only in for a day and a half, same with the IV. Provided nothing goes wrong, of course.. but complications are pretty rare. My whole procedure, from the time they did the spinal tap on me to the time I held my baby girl, was about 40 minutes. The faster you get up and walk, the faster you'll feel normal. After a week I was off my pain killers. Sure, it hurts if you let yourself go too long between pain management, but its not horrendous - just achey. And I'm a wussy, so there ya go! I feel a little weird with the scar tissue I can feel, but seriously, its no big deal. I hope if you need anything you'll let me know.. don't be scared! This is an AWESOME thing! You're having a baby!!

mrs.young - Thursday, 26 June
My first child was a c-section. The only problems I had after the surgery is I felt like I wasn't a real woman...sounds strange but it is quite common. I actually had to get some counseling for it. Just make sure that they cut your uterus sideways then your next baby you can try to have natural. The surgery is not painful but after...It is painful..I won't lie! The best way to help afterwards is to keep a pillow on your stomach so when you cough or laugh you can hold it to your stomach tightly..that helped with the pain a bunch! Good luck!

kar - Thursday, 26 June
Please don't worry about the c-section, I've had one with my 1st and having another one with this one. In my experience the catheter wasn't insterted till I had the spinal, so I coulnd't feel anything. And when it was removed, the next day, again I barely noticed. The spinal wasn't too bad (actually the insertion of the IV hurt more!). They normally make you walk within the 1st 24 hrs (the more you walk the quicker the recover...but don't overdo it), also suggest buying a support belt for after to help hold everything in place. The whole procedure takes about 15-20 min. to get the baby out and another 20 min to "close" you up. And when you see the baby, the bond will be there regardless of how it came out! Good luck and try to relax!

Marie3 - Thursday, 26 June
I have two children my first was an induction and the second was an emergency c-section. Because of this I had no clue what to expectbut it s pretty basic, the catherter is nothing really to worry about it stings a little but once you get the spinal tap done you don t even realize it. I honestly thik the worst part was the healing, I had no problems with it but I just kept having nightmares it would split open again. I actually got over htis by keeping a pad in my pants against my inscision. It put a little pressure on it and helped me feellike I had something holding me together once the staples were removed. There is a bright side though to a c-section, you can always milk it with your husband. I know many times I just didnt want to change the poopy diaper or didn t feel like getting up to clean so I just used that I was still to sore...lol good luck and by the way I have another one scheduled for the 18th of July. You may want to look into if your hospital allows V-bacs or if your doc will ok one.

Oopspregnantagain - Thursday, 26 June
I have had a C-Section and I have to have a nother one with this child on July 7th and it is not that bad, just remember you want a HEALTHY Child and your doctor will not want to do a c-section unles it is medical necesairy (sp) so dont' be mad a your baby it is for the BEST so that you or your baby don't have any problems it will be ok Just keep your head up and think positive it will be over with before you know it you could probaly request to try and have it natural and if anything goes wrong then go to a c-seciton have you discussed that with your doctor? some will allow you to atleast try

moopster - Thursday, 26 June
honey, you're going to be okay. you won't resent the baby because it is not the baby's choice or responsibility--babies come into the world a myriad of different ways and non of them are their decision any more than they are yours. c-sections, catheters, they do all these things to make you more comortable and alleviate stress--my sister-in-law has scheduled both her children's births by c-section to avoid what she calls "the fuss and muss of birth". so this might even be the better option for someone who is nervous about all the hospital proceedings. you are going to be great--just think of whatever positive thought makes you feel strong and confident and keep that with you.

tylersmom - Thursday, 26 June
I had a c-section with my first, it's not so bad you can't feel anything during the surgury, just maybe a little pulling. I'm having a planned c-section this time too, I'm still nervous even though I went through it before, but the baby is usually out within 5-10 minutes so after that your so focused on the baby you forget that your on the operating room table, as far as the cathater, my hospital uses a spinal block for c-sections and it only lasts about two hours after it wears off they will get you up and walking if your up to it so the cathater is not in for very long.

juliescrumptious - Thursday, 26 June
It's ok to feel all those things you are thinking. This end bit is so scary. I was hoping for a natural labour and it looks like I'm just going to have to go in for my induction on Monday. I cried like a baby in hospital this morning and I'm 38! There should be others in hospital with you going through the same thing, you may get some comfort seeing that it isn't just you. I really feel for you. Try not to beat yourself up about feeling negative. We can't all be perfect. I wish you all the very best

roseplus1 - Thursday, 26 June
Jax, I do not think that you will resent the baby afterwards. I know I am very scared of having a c section. But what helps me is reading some of the other ladies post. While the surgery may cause some discomfort think of the precious child you will have in your arms on Wed. I hope all works out for you.

angelbabies14 - Monday, 23 June
you sure can drink a glass of wine, 4oz a day, my childbirth educator told us to use this in the end, and in labor to relax a bit, just be sure its a good one without too much crap added to it.

Megan the lump maker - Monday, 23 June
I haved a glass of wine every weekend since I have been pregnant. IT IS FINE--I'm sick of people saying it isn't. This is my second and my first is soooooooo healthy and strong and i did it with her. You will be fine drinking--relax, and good luck!

MADISYN RAEANN VINSANT WAS BORN ON JUNE 19TH AT 11:50 AM. 6 LBS 1 OZ. 19" LONG. SHE'S BEAUTIFUL!!! WILL WRITE MORE LATER.

Caracaya - Monday, 23 June
A glass of wine does sound good, but when I pour a glass and have a few sips I generally do not seem to enjoy it. I hope that comes back once I gave birth, because I miss enjoying some wine at night or with dinner. I do have a few sips of beet every now and then from my husband, but for some reason I do not crave alcohol as much as I used to. Maybe my body is trying to tell me something?

hotpotaaaaato - Monday, 23 June
If you do go into labor, then your beer or wine would actually stall or stop contractions.. my guess is you want the baby out! :) Good luck

babygurl08 - Monday, 23 June

eulaha - Sunday, 22 June
I've been having to rest all day! I'm getting induced tomorrow, and so I have a list of things to do before I leave for the hospital. The only thing I've done so far was the laundry! I have to rest between visits downstairs to the laundry room! I guess I won't be getting much done on my list afterall!
