August 2, 2007

This is my second pregnancy and hoping that this one turns out better than the last one. I had a miscarriage in Jan. 07 with twins after almost 2 years of TTC. My doc couldn't find a heartbeat at 12wks so had an u/s and that is when we found out it was twins but neither had a heartbeat. We were devastated! I had a d & c. After only 2 months of trying this time we were successful. This time I was on Letrozol and not clomid like the last time. I am currently 13 weeks and we have heard the heartbeat 2x at doc's office. Although we are super excited, it is also difficult because we are still cautious and desperately hoping everything turns out well. It is so weird that once you have had a miscarriage you will never have a typical pregnancy in your own mind and no matter how much your friends (who haven't had a miscarriage) try to comfort you or understand they will never know what it is like.

He already has reflux but it was getting better.

i am indeed back to work -- it's like being on another planet!!! but, actually, leaving the house was the hardest thing. once i got here, there was plenty to distract me. it's stinky that i have to go back so soon, but it's got to be done. thanks for your sweet thoughts! :)

Hi, for putting pics on your vip page I had to open an account w/ imageshack, it's free. If you need help let me know.

I am from South Texas (tip of Texas). I recently worked for the school district. I did 3 years of rehab, which I have to admit I miss.

Wow, you're an SLP as well!! I have been one for 4 years, but just took a little break to spend time with my munchkin.

yeah, I tend to be very structured but being pregnant and now having a baby has DEFINITELY helped me loosen up, ha! i'm glad you'll be seeing someone about the reflux -- it sounds like such a drag, but owen sounds like a super happy little guy despite it which is wonderful.

karenc - Monday, 5 May
you know... haha, i'm just remembering that in the 4th nonth, the babies start to stay awake longer. so maybe that's why owen is napping for shorter periods. tho doesn't explain the puking. the puking makes me crazy too -- but I guess it's just what they do. becketts naps are generally 30-45 mins unless he's in the stroller or car seat & then he'l go longer, but his patterns have been changing too. a friend of mine w/ a 2 yr old told me that one of the hardest things to get used to is getting a pattern down & then having to deal w/ it's disruption. but she did say that after a couple of times, you just keep telling yourself 'yeah, don't get used to it'. now i'm rambling and beckett has just woken up in the stroller & is looking at me. time to roll!

karenc - Monday, 5 May
lol, it must be something in the air -- yesterday beckett started rolling from his back onto his right side. how'd it go w/ the 5.5 oz bottles?

hahaha, aw that's great!! the first time beckett rolled from belly to back I think I freaked him out b/c I was so excited. now I try to restrain myself but it's hard, LOL!

karenc - Sunday, 4 May
yay for owen!! did you screech when he did it, lol?

jenmarie82 - Saturday, 3 May
When he goes to the bathroom, is it hard? Taylor's is. Sometimes it's just a little pellet. Was he allergic to milk based formula? What were his reactions if he was?

How is you're little one doing? I have noticed an extreme change in Ava since I started her on the Dr. Brown bottles. I'm shocked. She hardly pukes at all, just kind of trickles out the corner of her mouth now after she eats. Rarely throws up out of her nose now too. She went from doing that about 4-5 times a day to no more than once! She's growing like a weed. If you're bottle feeding, try the Dr. Brown bottles! they are amazing!

My son is five weeks and they are trying to put him on zantac for reflux...he cries for about 15 minutes after eating but i dont know if its gas or reflux....he did it at three weeeks, stopped for a week and a half, now he is doing it again....what did your son do to convince you?? His weight gainis in the 75th per. so that is not an issue.

Hi, thanks for bringing up the reflux, you were right. Now I can get him medicine and all will hopefully be well soon. Thanks a lot for bringing it to my attention, my little guy will likely be feeling better shortly because of your thoughtfulness. :)

Thanks! I am going tomorrow to go purchase some new ones. I am thinking of going to glass bottles as well... I will let you know how I get on!!!

byli - Friday, 25 April
Hey!! So they took the bottles of the shelves too there? Gosh, they are not joking about this! On one hand Im glad we are all aware now but I have spent A FORTUNE on all the Avent bottles I have and I don;t think we can return them now....and plus Maya is soo good with them..i hope she gets used to the new ones I need to buy!!!

Thanks! I will ask her ped about prevacid. My 10 year old is on that when her reflux acts up (she wasn't diagnosed until she was 9 years old---LONG story and many trips to many doctors who wouldn't listen to me until one sent us to a GI specialist..), I didn't know that they had it for babies. Good luck to you! I know the prevacid works for my 10 year old (she doesn't vomit through her nose though...), just takes a couple weeks.

pepper1376 - Thursday, 24 April
Hi, I read your message on the GERD page and was wondering if you've had any success with your baby's reflux? My baby is almost 5 weeks and am having a horrible time. Her doctor put her on Zantac (.5 ml twice a day), she's gaining weight great but when she throws up (which is almost constantly), she throws up through her nose sometimes and it causes her to panic and hold her breath for an insane amount of time. Everytime I lay her on her back, I have like 20 seconds before it all comes up, through her nose. Diaper changes are a mad rush to beat the spit up! Her crib and cradles are all raised up and she loves to sleep in her carseat... When she was born the vomit would actually block her air waves and she literally QUIT breathing a few times which got us a $20,000 stay in the hospital for a week! It doesn't block her air waves anymore but she's on an apnea monitor for precaution. I'm at my wits end trying to control the vomit. Have you found anything that works better than the zantac?

mama2b - Thursday, 24 April
She was on Axid but she switched to Prevacid about 2 weeks ago. She still spits up but she is not as fussy when she spits up as she was on Axid. i figure it's because it doesn't burn for her like it used to.

well regarding my parents, it's not my choice. They won't have anything to do with me, my hubby or their first grandchild so there's nothing i can do about it. It's sad and hurts me a lot but that' s just the way it is i guess. i just wish i had some of you ladies close by. it would help so much.
