Holy smokes - Baby #2 is coming!
Well, well, well. This is a miracle baby. We were using condoms. It took us almost a year to conceive Malone. I never ever thought I would be this fertile or this lucky.
I started feeling kinda nauseous and tired in July, but assumed it was just the effects of taking care of Malone. I took a pregnancy test on my birthday (July 26) just to check, but it was negative. Then I got my period. So August comes along. I'm still tired, but still think it's due to the changes in Malone's sleep patterns. But no period. I figure I can't be pregnant because I had no other symptoms (no sore boobs or anything). A couple of weeks pass and I finally take a test just for kicks. It was positive. I took two more tests, and they were positive. I'm thinking, OK, this is a surprise, but babies 13 months apart is manageable. So I go to the ultrasound and the baby looked way too big to be only 7 or 8 weeks. I'm 12 weeks! I was pregnant in July - the test was wrong. I don't know why I had a period, but I've been pregnant since mid-July. Malone was 3 1/2 months old.
I kinda feel gypped because I missed the whole first trimester. I mean, it's fantastic that I had such an easy time and had no morning sickness or anything. But I'm already a third of the way through. I could have been complaining and getting special treatment that whole time!
I still don't really feel pregnant. I just feel kinda tired. My boobs are huge again, but that's the only sign I have. That and the ultrasound. I must be the kind of girl people can't stand. Easy conception, easy pregnancy, no complaints. Jeez, I almost annoy myself just typing that. Oh well. I will count my blessings and hope that this is my advance reward for having two kids in diapers in 6 months.
So we will have two kids a year apart. We didn't plan it, but I am very very happy. I am 32 and this is a good thing. I wanted to have kids before 35. This quick conception means that a third baby is possible. Not that I'm rushing to do that!
I have been on this site for a year and it's great to be posting on both the baby boards and the pregnancy boards. I love the chats and the support and the stories. Thanks, all!
My Baby Malone, born April 2, 2008
It's a girl! I am so glad I waited to find out the sex of my little one. It was such a great surprise, and knowing I'd find out soon definitely helped during some of labour's tough parts. I am completely smitten with my daughter who looks so much like her daddy but acts so much like me. I love being a mom and to be perfectly honest, I can't wait to do it again!
My Pregnancy - July 2007 to April 2008
Hey there! I'm 31 and this is my first pregnancy. My husband and I were married in July 2006 and I conceived July 2007. It took us about 10 months of trying before it finally happened and we are overjoyed.
I am lucky to be surrounded with a strong support system: my two best friends were pregnant when I discovered that I was too. They both had boys. My sisters both have children as well: all boys! So either I'll follow everyone else's lead, or else I'll be the rebel and have a girl. Now two of my other good friends are pregnant, so I feel like I'm constantly surrounded by mommas, which is nice.
We don't want to know the sex of our baby until the birth. You only get so many surprises in life, and this one is the biggest. So we're going to wait.
So far I've been blessed to have a pretty wonderful pregnancy: no morning sickness, no digestive issues, no scares. The worst of it is the exhaustion I felt in the first trimester and the headaches I felt at the beginning of the second trimester. It's all worth it, so I do my best to look on the bright side. In my third trimester I am feeling really tired again and some digestive issues are sneaking in there, but I still feel strong and I'm still happy to be pregnant.
I had a few food aversions: green and red peppers, meat, the smell of fried anything. I'm pretty much over those now, but I find I'm still picky about some things. I ate a bad kiwi at the beginning of my pregnancy and now I can't look at one. My sense of smell is freakishly strong, so I can pick up any scent - if I don't like the scent, I can't eat it.
I crave yogurt, fruit, chocolate ice cream, and peanut butter. I've been chugging down the ice water, maybe because I feel so warm all of the time. I was quite the stereotypical pregnant woman: I ate a lot of pickles (but never with my ice cream)! I'm over that now too. I am finding it more difficult to eat in my third trimester: I always feel full really quickly and I get acid reflux all the time. But I keep drinking the water and try to make sure that what I do eat is healthy.
I started to feel the baby kick more regularly @ 20 weeks, usually when using the laptop and reading this page or when driving. My husband felt the baby kick on Dec 23 and it's been thumping away ever since. I even can see the kicks from the outside now, which is super cool and kinda weird at the same time.
We've had 3 ultrasounds and the baby looks healthy (and awfully cute). Still don't know the sex, which is the way we want it. I'm looking forward to the rest of this pregnancy (though it seems to be going by so quickly).
I am actually excited about the thoughts of labour and birth. It seems that so many of my friends had to be induced and I really hope I get to go through this without that intervention. I plan to have a drug-free labour and I am super confident about this decision. Maybe it's the hormones clouding my sights, but I can't wait to go through it all to meet my baby.

Monday, 15 September Sounds like you don't have a nap issue at all. If they were less than 45 min then yes you would have an issue. Sounds perfect. bluebeanz -
Sunday, 14 September Yup I take the inserts out first. I don't know that you have to but I imagine it washes them better. The inserts are the yuckiest part since they absorb all of the pee. Let me know how it goes! :D Fuzzibunz are just like the Happy Heiney's I've been told. Peach -
Sunday, 14 September Maybe your baby would sleep longer in her crib if you slept in the same room as her during her naptime?? If she sees you, she might stay asleep more mom2boy -
Saturday, 13 September Oh yeah I wouldn't change a thing. If it isn't broke don't fix. The best parenting advice I have ever gotten is to follow your mommy instincts. At the time I thought it was a crock and as a very insecure mommy I replied with I don't have any. Ha ha ha I did though. mom2boy -
Friday, 12 September That is awesome!! Does she fall asleep on her own? Not that it matters, in my opinion if they sleep great at night who cares if you have to rock them to sleep. 730 to 5 is a great sleeping schedule. I would love that from Jamison. We get from 8 to 2 or 3 and I am happy iwth that. babylove723 -

Tuesday, 9 September Oh Lordy, trust me, it's great! Cole was such a fountain and it gets less every day! He eats cereal and fruit for breakfast, an entire stage two veggie for lunch and another entire veggie and half fruit for dinner. He still gets a bottle wtih those three meals plus a bedtime bottle. kbpc3949 -
Tuesday, 9 September Cole tends to spit up A LOT due to acid reflux. I was really looking forward to solids. He is really picking up weight now. mommyinthesky -
Tuesday, 9 September I know. I think it's crazy too. I tried so hard to encourage her to breastfeed. She wanted to, but she didn't have much support from her mom. I've questioned her several times on the cow's milk because I just can't believe an American doctor would recommend that. I've never heard of such a thing. Besides, she is lactose intolerant herself! She kept trying to force herself to drink milk while pregnant because her mom told her to, so I kind of think this whole cow's milk thing might be coming from her mom. Everything I've ever read talks about the danger of introducing something like that to such a little baby's system. Even when the doctor talked to us about introducing juice I just cringed. I don't see a reason to give Jacob juice at all. My husband is a diabetic and we don't drink juice. Maybe pineapple on vacation or something, but why pump so much sugar into a baby? Anyway, we'll see what happens to those babies (she has twins) when she starts this cow's milk thing in about a month. bellybumbles -
Tuesday, 9 September hey, how did you work it out to still be on mat leave? that's awesome! kbpc3949 -
Tuesday, 9 September So how often do you have to feed her a bottle? Cole was breastfed, well he received pumped milk for the first 6 weeks of his life. It really is the best food for baby! I was telling my husband about asking the question b/c we can't believe how much Cole inhales of his food! babydane -
