Holy smokes - Baby #2 is coming!

Well, well, well. This is a miracle baby. We were using condoms. It took us almost a year to conceive Malone. I never ever thought I would be this fertile or this lucky.

I started feeling kinda nauseous and tired in July, but assumed it was just the effects of taking care of Malone. I took a pregnancy test on my birthday (July 26) just to check, but it was negative. Then I got my period. So August comes along. I'm still tired, but still think it's due to the changes in Malone's sleep patterns. But no period. I figure I can't be pregnant because I had no other symptoms (no sore boobs or anything). A couple of weeks pass and I finally take a test just for kicks. It was positive. I took two more tests, and they were positive. I'm thinking, OK, this is a surprise, but babies 13 months apart is manageable. So I go to the ultrasound and the baby looked way too big to be only 7 or 8 weeks. I'm 12 weeks! I was pregnant in July - the test was wrong. I don't know why I had a period, but I've been pregnant since mid-July. Malone was 3 1/2 months old.

I kinda feel gypped because I missed the whole first trimester. I mean, it's fantastic that I had such an easy time and had no morning sickness or anything. But I'm already a third of the way through. I could have been complaining and getting special treatment that whole time!

I still don't really feel pregnant. I just feel kinda tired. My boobs are huge again, but that's the only sign I have. That and the ultrasound. I must be the kind of girl people can't stand. Easy conception, easy pregnancy, no complaints. Jeez, I almost annoy myself just typing that. Oh well. I will count my blessings and hope that this is my advance reward for having two kids in diapers in 6 months.

So we will have two kids a year apart. We didn't plan it, but I am very very happy. I am 32 and this is a good thing. I wanted to have kids before 35. This quick conception means that a third baby is possible. Not that I'm rushing to do that!

I have been on this site for a year and it's great to be posting on both the baby boards and the pregnancy boards. I love the chats and the support and the stories. Thanks, all!

My Baby Malone, born April 2, 2008

It's a girl! I am so glad I waited to find out the sex of my little one. It was such a great surprise, and knowing I'd find out soon definitely helped during some of labour's tough parts. I am completely smitten with my daughter who looks so much like her daddy but acts so much like me. I love being a mom and to be perfectly honest, I can't wait to do it again!

My Pregnancy - July 2007 to April 200
8

Hey there! I'm 31 and this is my first pregnancy. My husband and I were married in July 2006 and I conceived July 2007. It took us about 10 months of trying before it finally happened and we are overjoyed.
I am lucky to be surrounded with a strong support system: my two best friends were pregnant when I discovered that I was too. They both had boys. My sisters both have children as well: all boys! So either I'll follow everyone else's lead, or else I'll be the rebel and have a girl. Now two of my other good friends are pregnant, so I feel like I'm constantly surrounded by mommas, which is nice.
We don't want to know the sex of our baby until the birth. You only get so many surprises in life, and this one is the biggest. So we're going to wait.
So far I've been blessed to have a pretty wonderful pregnancy: no morning sickness, no digestive issues, no scares. The worst of it is the exhaustion I felt in the first trimester and the headaches I felt at the beginning of the second trimester. It's all worth it, so I do my best to look on the bright side. In my third trimester I am feeling really tired again and some digestive issues are sneaking in there, but I still feel strong and I'm still happy to be pregnant.
I had a few food aversions: green and red peppers, meat, the smell of fried anything. I'm pretty much over those now, but I find I'm still picky about some things. I ate a bad kiwi at the beginning of my pregnancy and now I can't look at one. My sense of smell is freakishly strong, so I can pick up any scent - if I don't like the scent, I can't eat it.
I crave yogurt, fruit, chocolate ice cream, and peanut butter. I've been chugging down the ice water, maybe because I feel so warm all of the time. I was quite the stereotypical pregnant woman: I ate a lot of pickles (but never with my ice cream)! I'm over that now too. I am finding it more difficult to eat in my third trimester: I always feel full really quickly and I get acid reflux all the time. But I keep drinking the water and try to make sure that what I do eat is healthy.
I started to feel the baby kick more regularly @ 20 weeks, usually when using the laptop and reading this page or when driving. My husband felt the baby kick on Dec 23 and it's been thumping away ever since. I even can see the kicks from the outside now, which is super cool and kinda weird at the same time.
We've had 3 ultrasounds and the baby looks healthy (and awfully cute). Still don't know the sex, which is the way we want it. I'm looking forward to the rest of this pregnancy (though it seems to be going by so quickly).
I am actually excited about the thoughts of labour and birth. It seems that so many of my friends had to be induced and I really hope I get to go through this without that intervention. I plan to have a drug-free labour and I am super confident about this decision. Maybe it's the hormones clouding my sights, but I can't wait to go through it all to meet my baby.

I got organic short grain brown rice and that has some iron content. Since it will be mixed with breastmilk/formula there is even more iron. I read on that website you gave me that iron content should not be of concern with a healthy full term baby unless otherwise specified by your dr. That website also said you could add brewers yeast for iron as well as many other vitamins. There is a whole section on making your own cereals on that website, you should check it out. By the way you are not the only one who is sticking to the 6 month thing, by the time I do my research and get Jamison utensils he will be close to 6 months. I am in no hurry it all happens so fast.

beautifulbebe - Saturday, 30 August
My friend is coming over today to do some baby proofing with me since my dear partner has a very sore back and can't do anything right now (he's getting better). I am putting the mattress on floor! Anthony has been rolling over both sides, but tummy to back he still only does sporadically.

mom2boy - Saturday, 30 August
Congrats on Malone rolling around and around. Don't you just love all the new things they do!! Jamison started making farting noises like he is blowing raspberries, that same day he started making "d" sounds too. It shouldn't be to long before he starts going dadadadad!! Ha ha ha we'll see, I am sure his dad is excited for that.

mom2boy - Saturday, 30 August
I have been reading through that site and I am so excited you sent it to me. It talks about making your own cereal which I planned on doing it also says you don't even really have to start with cereal. Are you going to make your own cereal? Are you even going to offer cereal? When are you going to start? I am potentially waiting for 6 months but Jamison is really into our food, he has done everything early...sitting, rolling, standing with support etc so I wonder if he is ready, he will be 5 months in a week!! It happens so fast, which makes me want to wait longer to give solids. I really am in no rush. I just figure it is time to start thinking about it. Next week I will go buy some baby silver wear for him, and I am starting to research stuff (e.g. reading the website you sent me) and I figure by the time I get around to it he will be just about 6 months anyway.

karina - Tuesday, 26 August
Hi! I read you comment, I think our babies grow so quick that soon enough they won't want to be in our arms any more, I don't rock her because she falls asleep on her own, but when she's having a hard time falling asleep I try to enjoy rocking her as much as I can..The swaddle thing work for us only the 1rst month, she will get her way out every time after that, lol.
I read somewhere (and I agree) that you cannot spoil a baby, you can spoil a toddler but not a baby, if this is working for u guys, it is ok...My baby has a hard time sleeping during the day, the bouncer is the only thing that work for her (only to get 20 min naps) so I use it all the time, I dunno what am I going to do when she outgrows it...

erins1121 - Tuesday, 26 August
hey, i swaddle, i hold him while he naps, and my hub rocks him at night til he falls asleep. i don't know when we are going to stop the swaddle and i don't know HOW we are going to stop the swaddle. he knows when he is in the swaddle it's bedtime! if you get any answers please let me know! thx so much

I love them! My son is 14 mos old and we've been using them for about a month now and I have a dd due in Oct, so I'll be cding 2 but I love it! It's so much fun to pick out a diaper when he needs changed b/c they're all so cute lol. I've heard a lot of ppl say that you don't have the same newborn blowouts with CDs and I am so excited about that lol. Anyways- thanks again =).

beautifulbebe - Sunday, 24 August
I had one of those days last week. No fun. But, nothing we can do about it. They compensate though by sleeping most of the day sometimes. Good luck with getting Malone to sleep.

mom2boy - Sunday, 24 August
I have some stock in the freezer too but that was from getting engorged and not wanting to wake Jamison up. So did you already go through your "milk bank"?

NewBeginings - Sunday, 24 August
im so sorry to hear about your condition personally breast feeding was NOt gonna happen for me. I was like eeeewww no freaking way then when i found out my mom had breast cancer and i watched her go through chemo and radiation i did alot of rehearch on boobies and their deals. I realized that breast feeding can reduce the risk of bcancer and on top of that i found out how good it is for the baby. well i went into the whole thing with the here i go we will see what happends idea if nothing else this will prob be my only child i get to breast feed so why not? Weve had our rocky moments but ingeneral were doing great. I dont think personally i would care either way if she was bfed or formula fed. I know that both are good for her yah obviously bfeeding is better but our entire generation was formula fed. Actually my moms generation was fed Kero syrup and condensed cows milk! Hahaha. Im sorry you werent able to bfeed but in general u did what was best for ur child in the long run the formula which really isnt that bad n e more inabled ur baby to have a mommy who wasnt sick! im sure a few months of formula in exhange for a healthy mommy wer a awesome trade and when their older they will agree. who knows maybe if you have another one youll get to try again!

mom2boy - Sunday, 24 August
I know, I just try to dress in what I feel comfortable in, and I like pointy toed shoes but I was going to dinner with some of my husbands coworker and I didn't want to be totally out of style. I guess they are still in tho because there was another girl that had them on. I was relieved to see that ha ha ha. Usually I am a jeans and T shirt kind of girl so when it comes the rare occasion of dressing up I sometimes feel a but lost.

3rdbunintheoven - Friday, 22 August
hello... you had left me a comment on a poll a month and a half ago re:cloth diapers and I really appreciate the advice- we started using CDs and I LOVE THEM! I didn't let other people's opinons sour me on the idea and while I have had a few leaks here and there (mostly overnight) it hasn't been that much of a prob and I love them! Thanks for the encouragement!! =)

erins1121 - Wednesday, 20 August
thanks so much!!!!!! I Reallllllllllly want one but they're so damn expensive. I checked some other cheaper versions of it and I liked them a lot!! The resale value IS great!! I tried buying a used one...sooo $$$$$$$

mom2boy - Wednesday, 20 August
Thanks for your input on the laughing/talking thing. I really don't worry too much because like you said he is excelling physically but I just wanted a little feedback from the other mommies.

mom2boy - Wednesday, 20 August
I agree, do what works. Some how you will always be doing something wrong in these books so following mommy instincts is the best way to go.

mom2boy - Wednesday, 20 August
He seems ok when I pick him up. He seems real tired but not too pissy. I really don't know how they deal with him though because at home he gets in such a bad mood if I don't get him to nap. At daycare he takes a couple 20 minute ones and such but that really isn't enough for him. I don't know how they handle his sleepy little self though. At least when he is at my work daycare I will go there and just nurse him to sleep for his naps, I know breaking the No Cry rules but is will only be twice a week. Actually I break the no cry rules all the time since he has been sick so much lately. I nurse him to sleep all the time, I hold him while he sleeps all the time. His sleep is just a mess right now but I never get the chance to work on it as either I am sick or he is sick. He is now just getting over pink eye and a cold. He gets sick so so much at this daycare. I know it isn't their fault but I feel they are partially to blame. This mom that has her baby at our work daycare says he has been there 3 months and his only been sick twice. Far cry from Jamison's where he has been sick 3 times plus a round of pink eye in 1 1/2 months.

cris99 - Tuesday, 19 August
Me too!! I went looking at some other bath tubs the other day, and they all seem to be pretty much the same size..looks like I may have to get creative lol
