I'm Jo from the UK my partner is from Tobago and we are the proud parents of our first little boy Theo Joseph who was born a week and a half early on the 29th July by emergency c-section after 18 hours labour was all a bit traumatic at the time but he is a beautiful gift from God and we love him more each day!

The only vitamin presence I found in vernix was Vit E. Thanks for the links... it's nice to find a mom who does her research! A lot of moms on here, in the hospital, in our class, were really uneducated on research-based issues when it came to birth. So why even have the research out there?!

I did see that colostrum has a lot of Vit K (one of your links). And that it may only be needed if a super long or super short labor. Very interesting!

im just watching thois program on bbc iplayer about an 11 yr old modle bloody hell her mother is PUSHY! shes so scary she grounded her for not getting a hob and such like its awful! shes making her go to a beauty pagent in the states and everything

kids in full on makeup is AWFUL

got to go cook andy his tea in a bit lol hes trusting me to cook im a bit nervous haha

hey.. my feet/ right foot is soo swollen too, embarassingly so haha I feel like I could sell my toes off for sausages. I believe the only thing we need to be careful for is our faces getting swollen.. like our feet and starbursts of light in front of our eyes.. things like that and headaches as well.. if you have a way to get your blood pressure checked I would do that as well and just write it down and tell your dr. if it's high..

I'm not sure about the swelling, other than we're supposed to drink a lot of water, cut back on salt (if you eat a lot of salt), and try to put your feet up. As far as what to watch for, I think it's just the things you mentioned, the dizziness and headaches. How long have you been swollen? My left hand his SUPER swollen today, for some reason. It's weird because I don't think I'm really swollen anywhere else. Anyway, hope you feel better soon. ;)

i just got back from psychotherapy it was a dead dead dead good sesh today! i had a good chat and sorted lots of stuff out

Hi babe, you should be seen every wk in my view but obviously things have changed.
He's got hiccups now actually n there between my belly button n pubic area, what do you think, head down? Got alot of pressure down there today too.
Ive got just a thin strapped t-shirt nighty to give birth in, n Braden n Ashton are our names xxx

Could you give me the citation for vitamin K through the skin? I have never heard of this... I work in a lab in the US and we work w/ Vitamin D, which is synthesized by the skin through UV exposure. I have been unable to find any sources for a skin/vitamin K pathway.

The reason K is given is as a preventative for late-onset hemorrhagic disease; K works as a coagulation factor. You can choose to give your babe oral doses of Vitamin K, as well. This precludes the need for yet ANOTHER injection and keeps the docs happy and allays any maternal guilt that may set in when you get home and babe's cranky (OMG- he must have hemorrhagic disease!). I think they receive several doses of K when it's given orally and I think they get it again at their 1st and 2nd checkups... Breastmilk is deficient in Vit K. Morning babe, baby has hiccups everyday, their so annoying

I feel n look really low again so im wondering if hes turned but i havent felt that big flip like i did when he went breech, so im not sure. Ive definately got hands n feet on my right though.
Not at midwife till next wed n if he's still breech than its a scan, if still breech it c sect at 39 wks

The cramping might be braxtons babe, i get 1 every hour n they seem to get worse as the day goes on. Its just baby getting ready, whoo!

i facebooked u last night!! im great andys great babys a pain in the bum i keep getting weird pains in my girl bits lol and a pushing feeling in them so i think things are getting ready for the big day i do hope so
