See how my baby is doing

I'm glad my husband found this page for me, it is so nice to hear that other people is going for the same issues as you are, this is my first baby, so, everything is new for me and my husband. I have lived in this country for just two years (I got married and moved here from Mexico) and the system is so different here, I’m still getting use to it, I feel like here the doctors and the nurses sometimes treat you like "one more" and you have to go through so many steps (nurses) before you see the Doctor, even though I’m going to his office and not to the hospital; In Mexico, at least in my hometown, you go to the Doctor and you see him almost right away, there is only one room next to his office and that’s it, here I’ve have to wait at least 3 hours and I have to go from room to room to see him and before you know it, you're done! I guess, it depends to the Doctor, ‘cause this is the first time I go to see one here in USA.

Monday, 19 Nov
I just went to the doctor's office to get an ultrasound, the baby was moving a lot and I did feel some of his/hers movements, we were hopping to find out the sex of the baby but no luck, his/hers legs were crossing all the time, any way! I’m just happy because I get to see him/her…

Thursday, 29 Nov
I'm getting big and I kind of feel FAT, my husband keep telling me that I'm pregnant and that's suppose to happen, but I freaked out because nothing fit me anymore and maternity clothes are to big at this moment. Any way, I tried to hear the heartbeat of my baby yesterday with one of those things they sale at Toy's r us, it didn't work :( so, I'll have to wait till my next OB appointment.

Friday, 30 Nov
I just came from the OB and he told me that it is a baby GIRL...We're gonna name her Emma Sophia...

Monday, 3 Dec
I'm so happy... I can finally call my baby with her name, all this time everybody was telling me that I was carrying a baby boy, so it was kind of weird when the Doctor told us: 'it's a girl!', we are so excited, but some people had told me that sometimes it is to early to know at 4 months, but I'm telling everyone WE'RE HAVING A BABY GIRL!!! : )

Monday, 10 Dec
I went to the OB office last Friday, this is the first time I got to see a Doctor in this new office (I change Doctor because of the hospital I wanted), everything seems great! we heard the heartbeat of Emma and they measure my belly, it is weird for me because in Mexico they don't do that they do an ultrasound every time you have an appointment and the consult is more than they do here... anyway it is just different.. It looks like I'll be having an ultrasound every month because I have a cyst on my left ovary, so they want to take a look of it and check on any changes, the good news? I get to see my baby more often! so I guess that's the good side of this...

Friday, 21 Dec
I just came back from my ultrasound, the baby seems to be great! we did not get to confirm the sex of the baby, I need to confirm the sex of the baby because my mom is throwing a baby shower in February, I `m kind of skeptic because the Doctor in Mexico was the one who told it was a baby girl, but he also said that my cyst wasn `t there any more, well the cyst is still there! so I do not know what to think any more, I guess I `ll have to make another appointment with the ultrasound technician in a week or so, so wish me luck!

Saturday, 29 Dec
I had another appoinment today... I gained 7 pounds in 3 weeks!!! so far I `m 17 pounds over my original weight... I `m freaking out I `m only 22 weeks and they said that the upcoming months I `ll gain more and more... I also went to the mall to get another set of bras (at Motherhood store) because the ones that I bough 3 months ago don `t fit any more,I began at 34 C and now I `m 36 E!!!! so what `s next 34 Z? lol.... I `m so depress right now! :(

Monday, 31 Dec
I `m so happy! yesterday my dad bought the crib for the baby, was a wonderful Christmas present, I `m looking forward to paint the room so we can put the crib together...

Monday, 7 Jan
Well, let me tell you how i found out i was pregnant:We were trying to conceived since May, and I was getting very sad because I though I `ll get pregnant the first month, silly me. Well on Aug 14th I went to the pharmacy to get those early prediction sticks, I waited a couple days more, and on Aug 16th y woke up at 4 am to go to the bathroom and decided to do the test, well since i read the instructions on the 14th i did not remembered them very well, so instead of waiting the 3 min i just waited 1, it shows me one very dark line and second one was kind of light so i though i did not do the test correctly, since i had another one i decided to go back to bed and do the other when i wake up, my brother show up early that morning to pick up his car, my husband was in work and after my brother left i took the second test this time i read the instructions before, and i waited and two pink lines show up! I was so excited but i couldn `t believed, I didn `t want to tell anyone but my husband but i didn `t want to tell him by phone either, so i called his office and just told him that i was in a very good mood that day, later that day i went to target and bought a gift baby box, a baby CD and a baby outfit, i put the 2 test in a ziploc and arranged everything on the little box, i also got a `we `re pregnant! ` card and put everything on our dinner table, I needed to wait for him 1 more hour, but i couldn `t do it! i was dying to tell him! so i called him again and i told him that i had a surprise for him waiting at home, so he came home right away! i asked him to close his eyes before he opened the front door, i guided him to the dinner table, made him sit and put his hands on the box, then he was able to open his eyes... OMG! I wish i had a camera with me, his face had the most amazing expression I `ve ever seen! we both started crying, he was shaking for 1 hour... we ` were and are so happy!

Saturday, 12 Jan
Well, it is official!...IT `S A GIRL!!! we went to a Doctor, which happen to be an Ultrasound Specialist, he said he was 100% positive!, so we are super, super excited! we `re picking the color for the room this weekend...

Wednesday, 23 Jan
Finally! we started working on Emma `s room, hubby and i went to Lowe `s to pick the paint color, we got home and we started painting (by we i meant he...lol, lest face it! he did most of the job, i tried to help as much as i could) he got so excited that we finished the whole room (starting 8pm, finishing 11:pm) then he turned to me and said: `you want me to put the furniture together so we can see the whole thing? ` of course i said: YES.. we put the crib and the dresser together (yes, i helped a lot) and finished at 2:00 am, poor hubby woke up for work at 6:30am so he must be very very sleepy, poor thing... any way, we `re going to the store today to pick some things to decorate the room, such as letters to hang on the wall and i also want to put a valance on the window... this is getting real! (check on the pic's I'll upload some more when the nursery is ready)

Monday, 28 Jan
I `m so happy! last Saturday, my friends threw a surprise baby shower at my place (hubby helped them), it was so nice to feel the love of everyone, specially because most of them are from Mexico and they have to cross the border (you usually spend 1 hour or more to do this) and drive all the way to my house. It was so neat when i opened my eyes and they were all my friends standing in front of me shouting: `SURPRISE! `, this was my first baby shower (you can see pics in my photo book), I `m having two more, one this weekend and another the one after.

Monday, 28 Jan
I almost forgot to update u in my last OB appointment, the results for the diabetes were negative, also they checked for anemia, but everything was fine, Dr said everything seem normal and that the last u/s shown that the cyst is getting smaller so no need to worry, they will do another u/s six weeks after the baby is born and if is still there probably they will give some medication, i only gained 0.5 pounds yeah!... by the way still a GIRL!!! lol

Monday, 4 Feb
I got another baby shower (this time my mother-in-law throw it for me), it was so nice to feel the love of all my husband family, all my husband `s aunts (Mother-in-law `s sisters) did something for the party, they had games, I've never been in a baby shower w/games, it was a lot of fun!...

Wednesday, 6 Feb
We started the childbirth classes yesterday, let me tell u something: it was so scary!... they explain everything to u, and some things are pretty shocking, but i guess it is better to have all the information so u know what `s happening all the time...

Tuesday, 12 Feb
I `m so happy! i got a 3D/4D ultrasound last Friday... yeah! we were able to see my little girl `s face.. she looks just like her daddy (he `s so proud!) we also had the baby shower on Saturday... lots and lots of present (thank you mom for doing this party for me!), I will post pictures later on... my 4D pics and the shower gifts pics...

Friday, 29 Feb
I had my Drs appt today, 4 pounds in one month... not so bad...everything seems ok, I `m measuring 31weeks (which is how far i am), blood pressure 120/70... the Doctor wants to see me in 3 weeks, I hope everything continues this way... I `m kind of sad, because my friend had her baby yesterday (C-section due to preeclampsia and position of her baby boy) and I wasn `t able to be there w/her, i don `t think she `s gonna w/me when i delivered, any way, everything went ok and she has her beautiful baby with her now...

Saturday, 22 Mar
I went to the Doctor yesterday for my 3 weeks check out... everything is great! blood pressure, sugar in urine negative, and i gained 2 pounds... i asked him if he can estimated the weight of the baby, he said that the baby will probably weight between 6.5 and 7 pounds when i delivered based on my measurements, so not a big baby (everyone was telling me that my baby will be huge!), i asked some question and he said everything was normal...the down side? still not be able to sleep at night... : (

Tuesday, 25 Mar
ok, we `re almost there, and yes..I `m starting to freak out! when is going to start (labor)?, is it going to be very very painful?, will i be able to get my epidural on time?, am i going to be able to drink water at the hospital (big fan of water)?, what am i going to do once this baby is here?...OMG! what am i going to do? don `t get me wrong i love this baby so much, but I `m afraid, all this is new for me and Doctors don `t explain that much, thank God for this site, I `ll be lost w/o u girls...yesterday hubby and i were talking, he `s just like me, with a million questions on his head, i `m sure he `ll be a wonderful father, `cause he has been a wonderful wonderful husband and very supportive during this pregnancy, besides he `s great with kids, me in the other hand not so patience, very lazy and disorganized, i don `t feel ready at all...

juliedue2008 - 35.7 hours ago
yes they will.. I just got home from BabieRus and returned five Avewnt bottles and got gerber ones that he loves... they give you a card that you can only buy bottles with.. whatever that was perfect for me!!! toyrus and babiesrus are the same owners i think

juliedue2008 - Thursday, 3 July
Yeah... it is funny.. you know that Avent contains that bad plastic.. it is not bpa free and if you take them back to babies rus they will exchange for any other bottle.. avent sippy cups fit the ring and nipple and the nipple is bpa free so that is what i did to try it out.. avent is going to be coming out with bpa free bottles in august 1st.. and then you can exchange your bottle for free .. but you might be able to take advantage of this now by taking some to babiesrus and exchanging to try other for free.. the bornfree my girlfriend swears by.. xander hated them.. ill send you a soothie.. they have bpa as well.. but i kinda figure that i had bpa and all my friends before me gave thier kids bpa bottles so i dont know.. just food for thought..

juliedue2008 - Thursday, 3 July
I only have xander you might have seen my sisters five year old.. I dont know how people do it with more then one.. Hey here is another idea.. Xander is so picky about nipples if I put one in his mouth that he does not like ie avent platex, think baby, nuk, really anything other then the nice cheap gerber ones.. he will drink the bottle sooooooo slow and i think he is full.. but then i go and change out the nipple to good old gerber ones that he loves.. and bang that rest of the bottle is gone in five mins.. try that.. maybe she hates the bottles u have? I have tried EVERY bottle.. I have like 12 soothies and he HATES them.. avents.. playtex.. he only likes the not cute ones.. haha.. but the nice cheap ones.. so lucky for me!! Just an other idea for you... if you dont have any soothie bottles send me ur address Ill send you one to try before buying them...

It sure seems like she is going all the same perfect.. but we are first time moms... and i know i am nuts about everything..

juliedue2008 - Tuesday, 1 July
My baby was born the same day as yours.. sorry to say he is sleeping through the night.. 9-6am.. but here is what i did and only knew to do it cuz the pedi told me.. first i am pumping not actual breastfeeding and zero formula.. she said for a week make each bottle bigger and bigger.. hold him till the entire bottle is gone.. it took like an hour sometimes.. when he woke for his feeding in the middle of the night make them even bigger i was like for 3oz normal make it 5 oz.. and then if he emptied it make it bigger next time.. never let them empty the bottle .. he was stuck on 3oz and she wanted him to eat more.. WELL.. now since i do that.. he take about 6oz every feeding during the day and one 8-9oz at 9 for bed.. if he wakes at 6am i give him a 6-7oz and get dozes for the rest of the morning till about 8ish..

try to custer feedings before the last bottle of the night.. like ours was midnight for a few weeks.. so i feed him every 15mins.. as much as i could.. he would stop taking any milk and then i knew he was full.. and if he slept past the feeding time she said let him.. he skipped the 3am on first... pedi told me to sleep train him.. if he woke at three do anything i could to delay the feeding for 30mins, i did that and it was horrible on me.. i was so tired.. but the next week he was waking up at 4ish and thn 445 and now sleeping through that feeding..

hope any of this helps i went through a simialar thing..

OH.. put ur finger on the chin if they stop and that helps them to continue to eat.. Xander was in the NICU for two days due to poor eating.. Call you pedi they might have some better ideas to tell you!

Hi- I read your comment about pumping and breastfeeding on another person's profile and had a couple of questions. I am also nursing and am so sore. I went to the doctor yesterday and she said I could start pumping. It has only been a week but our little one has had an excellent time of latching on. I bought the Lansinoh breat pump yesterday and was wondering how well it worked for you. I just don't want to start pumping too soon and have her not take the breast and lose my milk. I have heard that with a good pump you won't but I just don't know. Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Automatic update: Rosa added a new blog: Time for an update! lol

mommy2aaron - Thursday, 12 June
well they say its not safe at all to ever put them on their tummys because it can smother them but im just like you with that as well. because thats the only way aaron sleeps for a long period of time is on his belly. i dont see how they can smother themselves unless they really cant move their heads but im pretty sure that with the age of our babies, if they were to get in a position where they could stop breathing, they would move their heads. aaron usually keeps his face to the right! i really worry more with him on his back because aaron always spits up and sometimes throws up a little so i feel like if he were on his back, he would choke! so dont worry...your little one will be ok on her belly as long as she can move her head. oh and about the sleeping late thing, i WISH i could get my son on you and your daughters schedule. lol. im close but not there yet. i usually stay up til like 1 am and sleep til 8 or 9! he goes to bed at like 930 pm and wakes up at 3 then its all kinds of times after that! well hes screamin so ill write again soon. let me know if u have any tips on how to get him to stay up til 11 one night....

Cee-Cee

KateS - Tuesday, 10 June
In most cases of a parent hurting their baby when co-sleeping, the parents were drunk. I, personally, sleep with my baby - I get better sleeps, its easier to feed at night, and there is NO WAY I would roll over on him. I barely move - mothers instinct. Attachment parenting. Look it up. It is hugely popular and this stage only lasts so long, I love it.

Hi, you may want to try to lay your baby down in her bassinet drowsy not sleeping at the same time ever evening, then she'll learn to fall asleep on her own. Let her fuss for 3-5 minutes and then go let her know your there, see if she has to burp or not hungry and put her back down and let her fuss again then go back in ,after a few times of this she may fall asleep. I'll tell you I made a big mistake with my 10 year old son when he was a baby, I always made sure was sleep when I laid him down and by doing this he never learned to fall asleep on his own, and i just made a lot more work for myself because every time he cried I run and pick him up and then it was back to rocking him and trying to put him back down and like you said he'd get right back up. Good Luck

Bri - Wednesday, 28 May
Unfortunately yes. I wish it weren't true but most of the weight comes off easily. It's the last 5-10 that your body wants to hang on to. That doesn't mean you can loose it. I'm trying. I wasn't at my ideal weight before getting pregnant so I'm trying to loose beyond what I was before. It's hard. Exercise and eating right is the only way to go. I eat all the time though. I have good snacks laying around the house and my office. Lots of water too. Sorry, it sucks but at least you only have 7 more. That is better then a lot of women.

littlecavalier - Tuesday, 27 May
I'm not so sure I like your doctor very much :-). From everything I have read as far as pets go, kids are actually less likely to be allergic later in life if they grow up with cats and or dogs. Our dog is funny, I wouldn't trust her with anyone else's child. She is from a shelter and it's obvious to us that she was abused as she's not very trusting of strangers and doesn't like people who approach her and are in her face. She has always been great with Travis though and great with us and people she sees often. I trust her completely and even when Travis pulls on her ears, tail, fur, etc she just looks at him and when she gets irritated enough she will walk away so he can't bug her anymore.

littlecavalier - Tuesday, 27 May
I wanted to mention also that the growling is probably the gas moving around in her little tummy. I'm glad she seems to be doing a little better now!

littlecavalier - Monday, 26 May
Your daughter is so adorable, I'm so jealous of all of that hair!!!

littlecavalier - Monday, 26 May
It sounds like our situations were pretty different. If I had milk for breakfast my son would have a pretty sleepless night with a lot of screaming and he would stretch right out and there was no comforting him. It was definitely always gas pain but it was about 12 hours from the time I had eaten the offending food, so definitely not right after he nursed. It sounds like from that article that you can continue to pump and maybe slowly introduce breastmilk back in when her symptoms go away and then see how she does. I commend you for wanting to continue breastfeeding, I know a lot of Mom's that would use this as their reason to quit. I hope that you can get your daughter to a point where she is comfortable and happy and hopefully fully breastfed again someday. If not, know that you tried your best and that it was out of your control! It's definitely more important to have a happy comfortable baby than a breastfed baby. Let me know how everything goes!!!

karenc - Monday, 26 May
there is lactose in human milk so if your daughter is truly lactose intolerant, going lactose-free w/ formula is the way. if your daughter is sensitive to dairy, changing your diet will help. you should clarify with your doctor.

littlecavalier - Monday, 26 May
What were the symptoms your daughter was having that led the doctor to that conclusion? My son is affected by me eating dairy but I have read that that isn't considered lactose intolerance as it is an intolerance to the protein in the milk that passes along to my breastmilk. If that is the case with your daughter than cutting out dairy would fix the problem.

littlecavalier - Monday, 26 May
Here is a great article I found about it:
http://www.bellybelly.com.au/articles/baby/lactose-intolerance-breastfeeding-baby

tripnstuff99 - Monday, 26 May
Now I'm not positive so ask your md but I would imagine that when a cow/pig/cat/dog nurse it doesn't matter what they eat its still milk that comes out. I would think that the same is true for a human. I understand that eating certain things...spicy etc. can have an effect on the baby but your milk is milk. It will contain lactose whether you drink/eat dairy or not. Being a nurse I'm also sure if you just stopping dairy was an option the md would have suggested that. I would say contact the md before you try breastfeeding again and let him/her know what you did and if it would work. Good luck.
