its a girl!

3-31-08
Our little girl is here!! I found out when I went in for my weekly Dr. appt. last Thurs. that I was 3 cm dilated and in early labor. I was only 36 1/2 weeks so I was a bit surprised but very excited. I was having contractions that were 2-3 mins. apart, but they were not painful, so I went home to rest and to pack my bags. I called my husband at work and let him know it was show time very soon! I thought we would be back to the hospital in a few hours, but we ended up staying at home all night Thurs. and all the next day on Fri. I was very nauseous all day Fri. but still did not feel any pain with contractions so we decided to go to bed Fri. night at around 10pm. At around 12:00 am I woke up feeling contractions 2-3 mins apart that were finally a bit painful. I woke up hubby around 1am and told him I was ready to go to the hospital. We got to the hospital at 1:30 am (Sat. morning) and found out I was 4-5 cm dilated and fully effaced. Contractions were getting more and more painful, and about an hour later I asked for my epidural. The epidural slowed things down a bit so it wasn't until 10:30 that morning (Sat.) that I was fully dilated and ready to push. I had my epidural so I didn't feel any pain, but I pushed for over an hour and a half, and it was exhausting after being on bed rest and doing nothing strenuous for months! She was finally born at 12:00 noon on Sat., March 29. She weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz and was 20.5 inches long. Yes, a very big girl for being 3 1/2 weeks early! I am so grateful she came when she did! She is perfectly healthy and did not have any complications from being pre-term. We stayed in the hospital for two nights and came home today (Mon.) We were very ready to be home. We are so in love!

Hi. I found this site b/c I have been on disability from work, and now modified bedrest, and I have lots of time to spend online now! I have had partial Placenta Previa and now have high BP, so I have not been able to do much during this pregnancy. I have an outside sales job, so I have been off work for two months now. The worst part has been the "pelvic rest" due to the placenta previa. It has been hard on us (I actully think harder for me than my husband.) This is my second pregnancy, but my son is almost seven, so it has been a long time since I have been through all of this! I have really enjoyed reading all of your entries, and it has helped pass the time while I am home. :)

March 14, '08 (34 1/2 weeks)

I had my u/s appt. with the specialist y'day to see just how big this baby girl is now. I do not have GD, but I have been measuring 4 weeks ahead. Well, she weighs 7 lbs. already! Her abdoman and head are measuring 4 weeks ahead. And she is gianing about 3/4 lbs. a week. With 5 weeks to go it is needless to say, I will most likely have to be induced early. But b/c of my pre-e, it will most likely come to that anyway. She is fully enagaged in the birth canal and I am 70-75% effaced. I would love to go into labor naturally, as I was induced with my first b/c of pre-e and never got to experience labor. But with being on this strict bed rest, I can't imagine I will go into labor without some assistance. I have another u/s on March 31 (I'll be 37 weeks) to check her size again and to have an amnio to see if her lungs are developed. If the test comes back that her lungs are developed, then I will be induced the next day. But that would be April Fools Day!

Feb. 26, '08 (32 weeks)

I was sent to the hospital L&D y'day b/c my BP was very high and wouldn't come down and there was protein in my urine. At the hospital they hooked me up to the fetal monitor and did blood work. The blood work came back fine and my BP went down while I was there. But, I am now on strict bed rest. I can only get up to use the bathroom or take an occasional quick shower. I was induced almost a month early with my son due to pre-eclampsia, and I see this heading in the same direction. The good news is he weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz at birth and was perfectly healthy. This baby girl is measuring a month ahead of my due date, so hopefully if they have to take her early, she will be plenty big and strong. :) I will be going in 3x's a week now for fetal monitoring and to have my BP checked. This also means we won't be having either of my two baby showers now. I am disappointed, but know what is important is to keep her in as long as possible, which means I won't be doing anything for the next 4 weeks or so. For now, we are both healthy and happy and doing well. We are just rest, rest, resting! :)

Feb 15, '08 (30 weeks)

I had my dr. appt. and my blood pressure was decent, but I did have some protein in my urine. I am on constant BP/preeclampsia watch. Also, I am now measuring 4 weeks ahead of my projected due date. I have an u/s in two weeks to see how big she really is. At my last u/s she was measuring 3 weeks ahead, so we will see if she is now 4 weeks ahead as we suspect. I don't know what it will mean, or if it will change any course of action, but I am actually happy she is big just in case the pre-e gets out of control and they have to take her early as happened with my first born. I was induced almost a month early with him b/c of the pre-e, and he weighed a healthy 7 lbs. 2 oz. So bigger is better just in case. Now if I go full term, that could be a different story. OUCH!

Feb 1, '08 (28 weeks)

I had an u/s appt. and a dr.'s appt today. They checked the location of my placenta, and it has moved up a bit again and is now 3 cm away from my cervix, which means I can have a vaginal birth now! The baby weighed in and measured at 31 weeks. And when I went to see my dr. after the u/s she measured me and I measured at 31 weeks too. According to the u/s she weighs 3 and a half pounds already. I'm not sure if she is just a big baby or if I am farther along than thought. I am going to get another u/s in 5 weeks to see how she is measuring. She is head down and facing my back, in the ready position. I hope she stays that way! Oh, they also said she has a BIG head! Yikes!

Jan. 28, '08 (28 weeks)

Ok, yesterday I definitely felt like I had lost by body completely. It started with not being able to tie my shoes. I had to ask my husband to help me. Then that made me laugh, and my laugh was so deep (my husband asks why being pregnant makes me laugh like Santa Clause) that only made me laugh harder at myself, then because I laughed hard, I peed in my pants a bit. I ended up on the floor laughing so hard with wet underwear. God, what has happened to me??!! Thank goodness my husband thinks it's funny too. We laugh together, which I am so thanful for. Time to work on my Kegels!

Jan. 26, '08

I have measured right on track all pregnancy, but now I am measuring a bit big. I passed my glucose test though! :) Was hoping that wasn't why I was a bit big. I have an u/s appt. next week to see if my placenta has moved up more. I may be in the clear for a vaginal birth if so.

Hey, nothing here yet!

Hi Kassie

I'm O positive but never had a wheat problem untill 5 months ago. My doctor said she had never heard of someone becoming wheat intolerant while pregnant, but on the internet it says that if ur body has suffered a shock (including pregnancy) then it could happen. The last time i was pregnant was 11 years ago and i suppose my body didnt think it would happen again at my age. But after reading about wheat its not very good for ur intestines. I wish u so much luck, i understand ur pain. XX

luvbug - Friday, 22 Feb
sorry I have not responded until now. I was moving from one place to another. I was not saying that she is big, I was saying that it would be my luck for her to be 11 pounds or something crazy like that. But I also have an u/s in about a week to check my fluid level, I have no idea what she weighs. Good luck to you, I know being on bed rest would drive me nuts. I'm a stay at home mom with no baby for the next month.

tleah70 - Friday, 22 Feb
Well, I guess enjoy the bed rest while you can huh. I've been feeling pretty good. I've been tired and fighting with my elephant ankles...and the newest thing is HEARTBURN. But I'm loving every minute of being pregnant. I do have to say, I am definately ready to me my little guy.

Well you take care. Just wanted to make sure you were still doing ok.

Talk to you soon.
Teri

Hello how are you feeling? Im okay i fell down my stairs the other day butim okay i went on to the hospital and called my dr. he said to just go home lay down and make sure shes active and as all as i do not have any bleeding or cramping i should be okay. I fell on my side and hit my ribs and hip and went all the way down. We were so scared. Cory was a beside himself which means when i go into labor i now know what to expect. lol. hope all is good with you. take care.

Hi I saw that you had commented on julielips page about you have pre e before/could be having it now. Well I have it and I have a question for you I'm a first timer haha..my BP was high but not bad just high for me it was 122/90 I had dr appt today and I left with thinking everything was ok. Now I just got a call saying i have too much protein in my urine (confused becuz pre e you always have protein in your urine) so because I have to much they called me back and scheduled me to see the dr 3 times next week! I'm freaking out thinking that obvisely something must be wrong...any advice is this normal with Pre e I was just diganosed like 2-3 weeks ago with it so I havent had it that long. I'm scared seeing her that many times means she will induce me or something? Should I be worrying that much or is this normal?

jah-baby - Thursday, 21 Feb
Hey.Congrats and good luck on the birth and i pray everything goes well.U lokk extremely great for 35 years old..I saw ur front pic and thought u were a young girl and I looked at the age and im like woowwwww..shes lucky..lol
How are things now?DID u think of any names yet?

Avocat29 - Thursday, 21 Feb
I take CitraNatal (with the DHA supplement). They're prescription but I think they are worth it.

Hi Kassie, To be honest constipation is not new to me as i had an opperation as a baby and my bottom bits r smaller than normal. My doctor has not been helpful at all. This is my 3rd and i have been told time and time again that its ok for the baby. I had it bad with my first 2 and they turned out just fine (now 11 and 13). I have stopped eating wheat though cause it does tend to block u up and am eating rye bread and oaks instead. Its helped a great deal. Constipation is the bain in my life but it gets 100 times worse when pregnant (lol no more after this one!!!!). Its just very painful for my pelvis bone cause of the extra preasure. I wish u luck and happy toilets :) X

tleah70 - Thursday, 21 Feb
Hey Kassie,
Haven't chatted with you in a while. Just wondering how everything is going? Still off bed rest and all??

dragonfly11m - Wednesday, 20 Feb
I went to the doctor today and had my U/S.. baby weighs 5 pds.& 7oz.The doctor said this was within the normal range so apparently I'm not going to be having a huge baby. I am 34 weeks and today I measured @ 37 weeks. So although I am measuring ahead, my baby is pretty much on track. His legs are measuring long so I guess that's why I'm measuring bigger than I should be. My doctor reassured me that not everyone was going to fall into the 'normal' category but there was absolutely no reason for concern. She said the baby is progressing well, so I'm sure you have nothing to worry about either. Good luck on the continued bed rest- I'm sure you will be just fine.

dragonfly11m - Tuesday, 19 Feb
At my last visit I was 32 weeks and measuring @ 36 weeks. Ever since they started measuring me I have been measuring 2 weeks ahead. I have only gained 19 pounds so far so I know it's not because of me gaining too much. I had wondered if I were possibly further along than 32 weeks and my doctor said that wasn't likely but that I could just be having a bigger baby. So I guess we'll see tomorrow what she says. I'll also ask ( whether the baby is actually too big or not ), if they want to induce in cases like that or if they are more likely to perform a c-section.

dragonfly11m - Tuesday, 19 Feb
I go tomorrow morning @ 10:30 to have an U/S done and to get checked by my doctor as to why I am measuring a month ahead. I too am very curious to know what steps they like to take if in fact the baby is larger than expected. I know that with Gestational Diabetes and other factors there is a legit reason to induce labor and deliver earlier because of 'big baby syndrome', but I don't have any medical conditions that would be causing a larger baby so I guess I'll wait and see. I will let you know tomorrow what they say. We may just be having large babies... lucky us..lol..
