Just to answer your question it is not necessary to lose your plug first. With my first I had no signs. I didn't lose my plug or have my water break. I just went into labour and they broke my water and stuff. I think everyone is different

having flu like symptoms is definitely a sign of impending labor. We learned that from the L&D nurse in our lamaze class. There is not set time of how soon labor begins after that it is just that it can be a sign that it is coming soon..or it could be a sign you ate something bad or caught a bug

I'm not sure if having the "runs" is a sign of impending labor (since this is my first), but I sure hope so. I have had that going on the last 2 nights. I just want this baby out, so I'm holding on to any hope or sign that I can!

Oh my goodness...I've been dealing with a cold or something like it for the past two days! 35 weeks isn't fun so far for me either! And I had literally just said on Friday that I had been lucky so far and hadn't really been sick...I guess I spoke too soon...

Hi Kim- saw your post in '33weeks'. I have been strugglin for ages with pooping!! And it's the same kinda thing- real hard and if I do manage it it could be compared to that of a rabbit! I was getting really uncomfortable though and only going a little every few days so midwife sent me to the doc- he gave me some lactulose medicine which helps to soften the stools and some suppository's for if the medicine fails though I won't be usin them even if the medicine didn't work- I can't even look at them!! but anyway, the medicine seems to be making things a bit more comfortable so maybe a trip to the doc? It's really common- I've even been to a forum on here to discuss it!!

I used the Playtex drop-ins for my first and plan to with my second as well. I buy the Wal-Mart brand drop-ins that are like $5.00 for 100 drop-ins, and the Playtex brand drop-ins are $7.00 for 100. They are BPA free and also you can get the extra air out which reduces gas...They 1 thing I don't like about them is the obvious enviromental impact, but I still love them. OTOH, many people really like the Avent system as well, but I've never used it so I can't comment on that brand. Washing bottles and all that stuff can be a pain unless you buy a lot of bottles.

I think I'm going with the Avent bottles. I used the Playtex ones with the liners with my 2nd child and you're right - they come at a high price. AND they are more of a pain in the rear end that the regular bottles!! I say Avent!!

THANK YOU!!! I'm far from knowing everything. I just research a lot and also ask friends and family a lot of questions about their personal experiences. It takes a combination of both, not everything goes by the books. Just ask questions! :)

I put this on the 32 week forum, but I figured you may get it better like this:) Good luck!!

Kim, I would go into or call your Doctor if you are having cramping. I had cramping this morning, it was low and I was keeping track of it. It wasn't regular, but frequent. When I got into my doctor then checked and I hadn't dialated or anything, but put me on a fetal monitor just in case. When they came back to check on me, they said that I had had 6 contractions in the 20 minutes that I was sitting there! They took me up to labor and delivery, gave me an IV and a shot to relax my uterus and monitored me. Since I only hade 1 or 2, they let me go home (thankfully!! I was starving!) but they gave me meds to take if my contractions started again. It was a pretty crazy day...but if you are having cramping, I would definitly call!!

BH are just when you feel like your stomach gets tight and hard and you can't breathe. Real contractions, I'm sorry to say, hurt like a mother. The best way I can describe it is to say that it feels like a really bad stomachache, like if you eat something that's gone bad or if you've ever taken a vitamin without eating and it's that pain that comes in those horrible waves. For real, with real contractions, you will not be able to move or hardly talk. I'm not lying.

I foudn the greatest supplement that works right away , no side effects-many ahve loved it during preg-OB approved, if she cares to know. Maybe it would help. Floradix liquid iron at health food stores. The pills never helped me.
