AND...

Oct 11th
Hello everyone, my name is Alana. I''ve been married to my husband Michael for a little over 4 years now and trying to have a baby for pretty much the whole time, so we are so excited that it is finally coming true. We did invitro fertilization and are now expecting twins in March!! We are supposed to be finding out the sexes on the 19th of this month and we cant wait!! We think it might be 2 boys but arent sure yet. It doesnt matter either way as long as they are healthy. We think we have 2 girls names already picked, but boys are soooo much harder! Anyway I am feeling pretty good lately, just still a little tired and anxious!

My baby belly at 19w 3 days!

Oct 19th - 19w 5days
So, we went to have the u/s done today and found out we got one of each... a boy and a girl!!!!! We are so excited to say the least! God has really blessed us! The boy is 13 oz with a heart rate of 146 and the girl is 11 oz with a heart rate of 133, and both are looking perfect!! Doc says I am looking good and weight gain is fine. We hadnt bought anything for the twins yet, afraid to get the wrong thing, so today when we found out the first thing my hubby did was take me shopping and we got a couple of outfits for each! Anyway, so I have an appt with my regular ob on Mon so we get to share the good news with her then and then possibly another appt with the specialist in a month, so we'll see how things are going. We are so thankful that everything is going well so far.

Nov 7th - 22w 3days
I had an appointment today and everything is still looking really good, except my first blood pressure was a little high. So, now I have to go back everyday for a week and have it rechecked just to make sure! But I think it was just a fluke thing since i normally have really good pressures. I also got my flu shot today :( now my arm feels sore, but no other complaints yet. The babies were kicking each other today and my little girl was doing flips!! So cute!! And I noticed last week that you can now see my belly move when the babies kick! Their heartbeats were both 143, so those who say that a higher rate is for one sex or the other I might beg to differ. So anyway I have another appointment in 2 weeks. It's getting so exciting looking for nursery stuff to buy and thinking that we are more than half way there!!!

Nov 24th 2007 - 24w 6days
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, I did! Went to visit family this last weekend and it was so great. Anyway had 2 doc appointments this week. On monday I went to the specialist and got another ultrasound. The babies are looking really good!! Baby boy was 1lb 9 oz with a heart rate of 149 and baby girl was 1lb 8 oz with a heart rate of 145! They are right on track for what they should be! We are so excited and blessed that everything is going so well this far. On Wednesday my regular OB did say that because I have been having some episodes of high blood pressure that starting at 28weeks we are going to start monitoring the babies with the non stress tests, I think. But thats ok, I'd rather be safe than sorry and that just means that I know my babies are doing ok. My belly has really been growing alot this last week, my nurse even said I am really beginning to pop out there!! I should be- I have gained about 31 lbs so far!! That seems crazy to me but they are fine with it especially since we have 2 healthy sized babies in there!! Here are some more pics!!

Jan 4th 2008- 30w 5days
Ok, so I'm a little ticked off right now because I just wrote like a whole book on here about how everthing is going and went to save it and it all got erased!!! So, guess I will try again!
So, its been a while since I have updated and it seems like alot has happened... So I had my last appointment with the specialist about 3 weeks ago, The babies were looking wonderful. My boy is a little chunky butt he weighed 2lb 15 oz (a week ahead) and my girl weighed 2lb 9 oz (right on target) and heart rates were good. I told the doc about the painless contractions I had been having and he did an ultrasound to check my cervix and we found out that it had shortened to 2.1, so I was put on bedrest-boo... I am allowed to get up to use the restroom, shower, get something to eat and stuff like that so I am happy I dont have to be in the hospital moniterd 24/7 yet! Anyway we had plans to go to Chicago to visit my hubby's family for the holidays and all that got cancelled, including my baby shower! So needless to say Hubby was more than a little upset but knows that its for the better. So I have been on bedrest for about 3weeks now. So from 28 weeks I have been seeing my doc once a week and getting NST's done twice a week- fun stuff. The babies move so much that I'm there for like 2 hours trying to get 20 min worth of good stuff! But I guess that means they are healthy!
So, went back to the specialist today and got my cervix looked at again, it measured about 1.8. Doc says that much of a difference is ok especially since in am not dilating with it and that I just need to stay on the bedrest and try and keep these little ones in there for a little while longer. So thats what I'm doing... We didnt get to see how the babies were measuring today, we were dissappointed about that but we go back in 2 weeks and will get some more measuements then. they did have good heart rates though baby boy was 138 and baby girl was 140 so they are happy little campers! Me on the other hand- I'm a barn!!! I have been gaining about 3lbs a week the last couple weeks and I'm getting nervous. The doc says its ok and isnt worried about my weight, he says that this is the fastest growth time for the babies and that I am starting to retain fluids now (hence my swollen hands!) But I think I have gained almost 50 lbs already and still have weeks to go, I'm going to be a blimp! Oh, well I guess its ok since we have healthy babies! So, I guess thats about it, I will try and update more often now, but we shall see how it goes. Here's a new pic of my huge-ness!!! Enjoy...

Jan 13th 2008- 32weeks
Ok so not so good news this week, so I'm going to have to keep these updates short and sweet from now until these babies get here I'm afraid. So my 2 NST's went really well this week, babies stayed cooperative and I wasnt there for 2 hours!! I had an appointment with a different doc on thursday since my doc wasnt available this week :( I hated him!! So he did the ultrasound to look at the babes and they are doing really good, good heart rates, good fluid and everything like that, and baby boy is still head down. So then he went to check my cervix the old fashioned way and I nearly screamed!! He was not at all gentle and needless to say it was not a pleasant experience, not that I thought it was be great but I didnt expect to yell out OUCH!! Anyway so he says I am 80% effaced already and 1 centimeter dilated...not too good especially considering the bed rest isnt seeming to help... So anyway I am still on bedrest, he didnt put me in the hospital so we'll see what happens. I have another appointment on this Thursday and then an appointment with the specialist next Tuesday. And I am packing a bag for that one becuase I have a feeling he will want me to stay there.... We shall see. Anyway please pray for us and our babies, that they will stay in a couple more weeks and be healthy when they do come out. I'll try and update again soon.
Jan 19th- 32w 6days
Well I have some not so great news... So Thursday morning i was supposed to have a regular weekly appointment with the doc and I was on my way into the hospital when my water broke!! So I was rushed in and ambulanced over to my specialty hospital 2 hours away. They couldnt check my dialation too much because they didnt want to cause any infections. They checked on the babies with the ultrasound and baby girl had turned head down! So both are head down now and ready to go, which means I am do vaginal delivery even easier now. So I alot of contractions that day and night and then yesterday they started going away and now I am hardly having any at all! So the good news is that they are giving me antibiotics trying to let them stay in as long as they can for the next week. If they havent come out by 34 weeks(next sunday) they will go ahead and induce me to have them on Monday Jan 28th! So thats our deadline. As of right now there is no infection and babies are moving around in there alot and looking really good, so we are just waiting to see what happens. Doc says by this time in pregnancy the babies will probably be fine for coming out with very little complications. So thats the story, I am here on bed rest in the hospital till they decide to come out or until we get them out on the 28th.. We just pray they will not have too many difficulties when they get here, so please keep us in your thoughts and prayers and I'll update again soon, maybe to say they are here!! P.S. if they are still in there on Tuesday we should get an ultrasound to get a fetal weight estimate and all that good stuff, so maybe we will know what to expect when they do pop out!
Jan 23 - 33weeks 3days
So we had our last ultrasound yesterday and everything looked good! Both babies are still head down. Baby A (boy) is the one who's sack broke so he has little fluid in there but that is what they expected, he is still doing good with a good heart rate and he wiggles around and both get hiccups alot! Baby B (girl) still has fluid around her so that is good, she also had a good heart rate, both were between 140 and 150. So baby boy weighed in about 4 lb 12 oz and baby girl about 4 lb 5 oz, so they said they are growing well! We also got to see that our little girl has hair already!! It was so sweet! We couldnt tell for sure for baby boy because without alot of fluid it is harder to see in there not to mention they are squished and running out of room and his head is all the way down on my cervix! So all in all everything went well and I am still scheduled for induction on Monday morning. Doc said they will take me downstairs, get me set up and start the pitocin. He said it will probably take awhile for the little ones to come but I can ask for my epidural whenever I'm ready! So its more waiting for us, about 5 more days and our little miracles will be here, it's so crazy to hear myself say that! Anyway, I dont know that there will be much to update on but I will try to, maybe just to keep myself busy waiting on my little ones!!
The Twins Are Here!
Hayden Andrew Mrugala and Kirra Layne Mrugala were born at 34 weeks and 2 days on Jan 29th at 437am and 441am. Both were born vaginally with no problems during delivery. Hayden was 5lb 5and a half ounces and Kirra was 4lb 7oz. They are both doing well but in the NICU because they were early. We are just waiting for them to start eating all their feedings by bottle and then we should be on our way home!! Anyway thats about it for now, I will try and update more soon and add some pics!
Update: Jan 8 2007
So yesterday both Hayden and Kirra started taking all of their bottles! So... today they will be feeding on demand and I will be staying here overnight with them at the hospital and if they do well and dont lose weight, we will be on our way home tomorrow!!! I am so excited! So today I am just crossing my fingers and praying that they do well so we can finally go home!!
My babies are finally home!!
So both Hayden and Kirra gained weight last night and everything went well so we got to leave the hospital about 11 this morning!! It has been a great day, tiring but great! So now I just have to catch up on some sleep and get a good schedule going and we will be in business.. then I will try and put up some pics of our little angels! So be looking for them soon....
