Lexi is going to be a BIG SISTER! I can't believe it.
Let's start from the beginning.
Chris and I met in high school. We started dating January 6, 1995. He asked me to marry him August 24, 1995. As soon as we graduated high school we got an apartment together. We played house for 8 years before I decided to choose a date. After a very long engagement we were happily married on June 28, 2003. A little over a year into our marriage we decided we were ready to have babies. August 2004 I was pregnant. We were both so excited. Unfortunately my pregnancy ended in November with a miscarriage and D&C. We were so crushed. I couldn't believe that it was happening to me. I just figured you got pregnant when you wanted to and had a baby. I wanted children so badly I decided the best thing for me was to start trying again immediately. After a very long 9 months we were finally pregnant again. My pregnancy with Lexi was uneventful, except for the 100lbs. I put on. After 1 week past my due date, major swelling, and elevated blood pressure my doctor decided to induce me. After 10 hours of labor, pushing for 2 hours, and forceps, my doctor suggested a c-section. There was meconium and fetal distress so I agreed. Lexi was born within minutes. She was immediately handed over to the 10 nurses and doctors in the room. They wrapped her up in blankets and held her up as they walked out the door. They ended up putting me out after she was born because I started to feel everything they were doing. I woke in recovery in extreme pain, so much it hurt to breath. After my mother and husband complained to the nurse that I was still in pain they finally shot something into me. Less than 3 minutes later I was fine. I was taken to my room where I fell asleep. I woke up about 4:00am sobbing and in terrible pain. A wonderful nurse walked in to check on me. She gave me some pain killers. She also ran to the NICU to get a picture of Lexi for me. I still hadn't really seen her. When they were walking out of the room I only saw a big ball of blankets. At 7:00am I demanded I see my daughter. They wheeled me into the NICU. She looked so beautiful but it was so hard to look at her. She had a tube down her nose, an IV in her head, her hands were so bruised from missed attempts of IVs, and all the wires hooked up to her feet. I guess when she was born she had meconium in her stomach and lungs. I was finally able to hold her 24 hours after she was born. I was kicked out of the hospital after 48 hours (suppose to get 72 hours after c-section birth) without my daughter. As soon as I got home I threw my bags on the floor and returned to the hospital. I remained there until she came home on February 14. Chris and I had agreed that we wanted more children. My doctor suggested we wait 18 months so my c-section could fully heal. As 18 months started to approach I started to begin to reconsider having another child so soon. I liked sleeping through the night, having my body back, and being able to have ice cold beer. Thankfully in July I fell pregnant, without even trying. I say thankfully because I think I would have waited until it was too late to have anymore children. I honestly do not know how it happened. According to my doctor I ovulated immediately after my LMP…the next day! As you may know this is suppose to be the safe time. Guess God had different plans for us. Chris and I are very excited. My doctor has agreed to deliver VBAC.
