Hello! Paul and I are very excited to be having a baby. We miscarried our first little one in October of 2007. I carried the little guy to 13 weeks before the doctor discovered the baby past away at 8 weeks. But, we were quickly and unexpectedly surprised in December with this pregnancy. I really wasn't ready for this pregnancy, but I know deep down that this baby is going to be as big of a blessing as our first, if not more. Someone told me that "doesn't keep too many secrets from us," so we are not going to find out what we are having. This pregnancy was a surprise and we want the baby to be a surprise too.

Glad to hear things are back to normal!! I was told in my baby class that if you do actaully get fully blown preeclampsia you are put on bed rest and possibly induced :( That sounds icky!! I think it sounds better to just take it easy for the next 4 weeks!

Hi that is great news!! Hopefully you will continue doing good! I went to the doctor on Mon and everything was good also, my blood pressure was down some and they gave me another prescription for more blood pressure medicine. I'm starting to get really miserable though, I can certainly tell my baby is running out of room, I'm having trouble sleeping now so hopefully its not to much longer to go!

My Doctor said that they wouldn't do anything until the dystolic reached 90 or so....what "anything" is, I am not sure. He didn't mention anything about induction or c-sections but I do not think that they will let you deliver vaginally if your BP is too high? I think I will find out more on Thursday when I go back in (prob the same stuff you will hear today!). My doctor said that those stabbing crotch pains (like you got kicked in the crotch) are from the babies head resting in the pelvic area due to dropping. I can't beleive how close this is, I still have to paint the nursery!!

How is your BP issue going? I keep checking mine and it's not too terribly high throughout the day (125/75 or so) but I feel really hot/dizzy/faint sometimes, do you?

Hi!! The only thing I'm having to do right now is watch my sugar levels and watch what I'm eating better to to keep my sugar levels down. I went and got a pregnancy massage this morning and it felt so good! I'm nice and relaxed now and I came home and took a nap. I go back to the doctor on Mon so who knows what will happen at that appt, it seems like every appt I have gets more and more exciting.

They started seeing signs at 28 weeks and put me on bed rest but then my BP went down at my next couple appointments so they let me go back to work but on a 6 hour day. Im still not showing full pre-eclampsia because the protein in my urine hasnt reached 300 yet but they fully expect it to so now I am doing weekly 24 hour urine tests to monitor it. UGH! So its been 6 weeks I guess. She wont induce me til 36 weeks at least but they are trying to wait to 37 possibly. Still, its 2-3 weeks away!

He didn't mention that her dropping had anything to do with the higher BP. He was just suprised at how low she was, he even called over a nurse to check as well! He said three weeks ago that she was starting to drop but now she is REALLY low! He said that her position and my rising BP combined indicate that I may be an "early bloomer". It's weird because I never got that full upper tummy look, I have carried low the whole time ( and very small ) but now it's even lower but sticks out more.....I guess it's all good if she comes out healthy!

I was told that I can't go jogging or do "jarring" cardio anymore, restricted to walking and weight lifting. I was also told to work no more than 40 hrs per week. Last week SUCKED at work, so I wonder if that had something to do with it? My BP was only 130/80, but I am normally in the 110/60 range. So it's not dangerous high, but it is creeping up there. I was bumped up to weekly appointments now just to watch it. And he told me to check my own BP everyday and if it goes above #/90 to go to the ER. It's scary!!! I am not ready to have her yet! They said she needs to get bigger before she will do well on the outside. Did you hear anything about your baby dropping a lot??

kathy24 - Thursday, 17 July
How are you doing today? I just got home from Labor & Delivery! My little man would not cooperate at all for his non stress test so they sent me to the hospital. I ended up being there for 3 hours and they had to do an ultra sound. He was fine during the ultra sound so they think my sugar levels was high which was making him slow today. At least everything is fine and I got to go home! Hope your having a better day than me!!!

kathy24 - Wednesday, 16 July
Great news, I had my blood pressure checked today and it was 134/84 which has really came down. Now my little man needs to pass his non stress test tomorrow and we will make it on to week 35!!!

The book themed shower is a great idea! I had thought about it briefly and then forgotten about it. My church is very economically diverse so this would be the perfect idea since people could bring new or vintage books and $$ wouldn't be as much of an object... THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Ya I know what you mean about your feet feeling bruised even when they aren't swollen. My fingers are so sore in the joint area and its from all the extra fluid from swelling. The bedrest is getting easier for me at first it was so hard because like you said there are so many things I could be doing. But now that I realize how serious this is and that I want to make it to week 36 to give my baby a better chance then the bedrest is easier. I lay on the couch with a pillow and that helps alot. We are hoping to make it to Aug 1 also, but its looking more like in July so we will see. I have to go today to get my blood pressure checked at my doctors office and then tomorrow I go for a non stress test so I'm so afraid that they will say go to Labor & Delivery its time. Well hang in there and get alot of rest!!!!!

RJsMommy - Wednesday, 16 July
Im with you on the preeclampsia too. My doctor has sent me to L&D the last 3 times I have seen my doctor and it seems to go down in the hospital but its gradually going up in both places. I am now off work (starting yesterday) and am on partial bed rest. I have the bad swelling that wont go away also. Luckily your doctor is monitoring you well enough to catch it (some of my friends weren't so lucky). Take care of yourself and listen to your doctor. You will feel fine but you never know when your BP is high. Take it easy. ~~Dawn~~

kathy24 - Tuesday, 15 July
Hi there, I'm in the same boat as you with the early signs of preeclampsial! My blood pressure is so high right now. My doctor told me to go to L&D if i get a severe headache which I've had a headache everyday for the last week. Start getting blurry vision or seeing white spots. Or if I have really severe swelling. I have had all the symptoms already but not all together, Also I'm starting to have protein in my urine so my doctor doesn't think I will make it pass week 36. I'm on partial bedrest but I;m not allowed to work since I'm nurse. How are you feeling???

PaydensMom - Tuesday, 15 July
Tell me about it, they are WONDERFUL!!!

BeansMom - Monday, 14 July
I have sore swollen feet but they don't look veiny or a different color...Ask your doc...I'm told it has alot to do with blood pressure too so doc may want to keep an eye on that. All the suggestions they other ladies have said have worked for me too, The pedi one is my fav cause it works and well, whodoesn't love that!

PaydensMom - Monday, 14 July
Hey, I was reading the comments and seen where you asked if there was anything else to do about swollen feet and ankles. Try getting pedicures. I started when I found out I was pregnant, and I have yet to have swollen feet and ankles. I guess it helps the circulation.

mommy20 - Monday, 14 July
I don't know if there is anything you can really do for the tenderness, but I get in a hot bath (not too hot of course) and massage my ankles and feet. I found that it helps relieve a little bit of the tension/soreness for me. Hope this helps!

scorpgrl20 - Thursday, 26 June
I heard you can have sex up till the end unless your doctor says no or unless your water breaks.

myfirst=baby - Thursday, 26 June
from what i know you can have sex up untill the day you go into labor. unless your doctor says otherwise. as for me, i have cut off of sex as of yesterday! because of light bleeding after intercourse. hope this helps!

joannemichelle - Saturday, 21 June
Its about 102 today and I have killer round ligament pain so Im curled up on the couch hoping that taking a swim will help with either the heat OR the pain! We got our A/C fixed on Wednesday thankgoodness!! But my husband and I coordinate wedding ceremonies and I have to survive one tomorrow! Good luck staying cool

adriennella - Thursday, 19 June
Thanks, I just tried your breathing advice. It helped!

JoAnneMichelle - Monday, 16 June
When I went to their website I found the one in Burbank so we ended up going there at 8am on Saturday. We were the first sale of the day. And they had our crib and mattress in stock. We cant pick them up though til we have access to a truck ($150 seems like way too much for them to deliver all of 5 miles!).
Our stoller is on back order and should be here in 2-4 weeks. I cant wait!!

joannemichelle - Monday, 16 June
We ended up getting our stroller and infant car seat from USA Baby too! Thank you sooo much for telling me about the sale! (We actaully bought the stroller and infant seat today, but they still gave us the sale price)

joannemichelle - Saturday, 14 June
We got our crib!!! And we picked out a stroller, but we're probably going to let our parents buy that for us.
