April 10, 2008

We had an appointment this morning with our OB and it was a good one. I was so looking forward to this visit as it has been four weeks since our last and I was dying to hear our baby's heartbeat again. I've only felt him/her move once or twice and it's been well over a week so I was really hoping to get the affirmation that everything was okay with hearing the heartbeat. At first I was worried, as the nurse kept trying and trying to get it with the doppler to no avail. Finally after about 6-7 minutes she was able to find it. She said he/she is very active which is a good sign. The bpm ranged from 138-152 and that's a healthy place. My husband and I were elated when we heard the heartbeat --- it was amazing. So I was supposed to go back in 4 weeks to have the 20 week comprehensive ultrasound but the sonographer is going to be out-of-town that week. Fortunately, she scheduled me in for the previous week and not the later one. I am THRILLED to have to wait one less week to find out the health of our baby and the sex. I am really eager to get started with planning the nursery decor. I'm on top of the world right now!!! No more morning sickness and feeling less fatigued every day. The only yucky symptom going on currently is the occasional bad, bad headache. I haven't had one of those in a couple of days though!

Things are going pretty well right now. I'm just about over this cold I've had now for a week and a half. Morning sickness is diminishing; I'm only sick to my stomach now after I take my prenatal pill and if I wait too long to eat. I am so excited about our next ultrasound at 20 weeks!!! I absolutely cannot wait to find out if we're having a boy or a girl. I have gained 4 pounds already. My belly is getting bigger all the time and even my new maternity pants are a little uncomfortable around the waist. I think once my uterus moves upward, the pants I wear will start to feel better. I can't wait for my belly to get bigger. My co-workers don't yet know I'm pregnant. I'm trying to wait as long as I can to tell people I'm not very close to, just in case something goes wrong. I'm not sure how much longer I can hide it though; more than likely most everyone probably suspects I'm pregnant or thinks I'm just really packing on the fat. I was so thin before and I guess that's why it's completely obvious now, my belly has become an eyesore... at least to me it has because right now I don't look pregnant... I just look really out of shape. Anyways, I can't wait for our next doctor's appointment. It's just a checkup but they told us we'll get to listen for the heartbeat with a doppler each time we come in. My belly and breasts are itching a lot --- I guess that's because they're growing. I am on cloud nine!!!! For some reason I always thought having a baby would be too good to happen to me. For years now, I've thought that I'd probably just have to adopt. I feel so incredibly blessed! I can't wait to thank God one day face to face for this baby!!!

I am 11 weeks 4 days pregnant today and am thrilled!!! My husband and I are tremendously blessed with this baby. We can't wait to hold him/her in our arms! God is wonderful... He's given us such a beautiful gift. We're praying for a healthy pregnancy and baby. I look forward to talking with all of you expectant mothers out there. Hopefully, we can inform and encourage one another through this exciting time! My heart goes out to each and every one of you. Much love.

WOW! I am impressed with your schedule. I guess since I sit in front of a computer each day, it is easy for me to get on and peek around... so I just wanted to make sure you were ok since you haven't been on. How is the teaching going with your growing belly? Are you able to do as much as before or are you taking a more handsoff approach? I try to avoid the Florida heat so I can't say I am outside too much otherwise it is just to go from in a car to the next location! So I am very impressed.

We are naming the baby right after my husband. I always knew he would be a Jr. but we are going to call him by his middle name which is Jerrod. What name have you guys settled or narrowed down to?

Congrats on the theme! I know how much of a hard decision that is!! I LOVE the idea... that sounds like it will be really stimulating for his mind. Our room is going to be themed on something like 'Dreamy Nights', so the walls are two toned (a soft blue at top and soft green at the bottom) and there is a boarder that applies the theme in the middle where the colors meet. The furniture is a light oak color (kinda honey) and then we are putting up the fixtures on the wall. I have a little more to do, but the most part is done (painting!!) which my hubby did since I wasn't allowed to paint! I am so happy to see it coming together.

You have to take pictures when your room is complete. I am not posting any room pictures until we are DONE. I am too anal to show a work in process.

Have you started thinking about your baby shower? We are having a co-ed one in a month... I am excited. I can't believe how quick time is flying... I will be 30 wks when the shower comes along. I am still amazed at how far we've come and how much time isn't left. I thought it would take forever... but it actually isn't!

Pregnancy is going well... my little flea is moving around constantly. Makes me wonder what I worried about at first. He does do a few hard hits, especailly if I am walking and then I have to stop and readjust myself because he feels like he is leaning against my stomach lining. There was a time when he pushed up on my rib hard and I had to move him... I haven't seen how big he's gotten so I am still trying to imagine how much room he does or doesn't have.

I've gained a lot of weight... so my pelvis is having a hard time keeping up with the excess gain. That has been the only painful part... but it is tolerable, especially when I think of the big picture.

I get to take my glucose test in a little over a week. I also am getting more blood work done at the same time. Can't say I totally look forward to it, but at least it is a milestone right?! I am not too bad with sleeping, but I do feel like I am a beetle at times trying to roll over, because I have to change sides while I am sleeing and it takes me FOREVER. I wasnt a back sleeper, but I was a face one... and that was HARD to adjust to.

Other then that... it has been fun and I am enjoying everything, from the attention, to the movement, to the overall kindness people give a pregnant woman. I can see how people get depressed because they are so used to being pampered... and then it stops. I hope mines continues.
