This life you have given us
is so tiny, fragile, and vulnerable,
safe in the womb of flesh and hope.
O God of love, creator of life,
hear our prayer.
We want this baby so much.
Please grant this child of ours
a full term of nurture,
the joy and mystery of life,
and the blessing of your love.
Grant us the fulfillment of our dreams,
a baby to cherish and protect,
a child to teach and guide,
a blessing to our family.
Amen.

Madisons-Mom - Monday, 12 May
hey thats funny I just read your message and my husband made me cry while eating out at breakfast, I had to step out side to calm down, I think the most part was me being over emotional but I was pretty mad for a while.....anyways hope that makes you feel better lol!!!! happy mothers day =)

Sometimes I think that these doctors forget that they are dealing with actual people not just patient numbers. It is so fustrating to have to look for another doctor @ this point but I'm going to start looking on Monday.

Hi! We're both in week 16 and just wanted to drop by. How are you feeling? Are you feeling the little one yet? I haven't felt anything yet....I'm hoping any day now! What do you think you're having? What's your gut tell you? I see you have 2 beautiful children already. Did you have any 'guesses' about what sex they were going to be before you found out? I think I'm having a boy, but of course won't find out for 5 or so more weeks. I can't wait! Hope you're doing well!

princess-anne - Friday, 25 April

Everything is going great. Still can't sleep very well and I am starting to get big too. How are you doing? My husband is left for a for month deployment overseas and I miss him a great deal.

My regualr ob doc appt went fine today. I heard the heartbeat again. It is a wonderful sound. They increased my insulin to 18 units of Humalog in the morning. My doc gave more suggestions on things to try to eat for breakfast that might not affect by blood sugars too bad. My doc has two kids and had gestational diabetes with both and her training was my high risk doc that I also see. She always gives me things to try that helps with the cravings. I have only gained 2 lbs back of the 5 I had lost in the beginning. Only 12 days until the big ultrasound. My regular ob wants all my scans to be done at the high risk doc. Hope is well with you.

HI--
You may need to go up on your insulin. I am taking 36 at night and have finally gotten it under control. You do need to eat before bed otherwise your ilver kicks out glucose (or something like that - i don't understand it all) during the night which can cause the levels go up. I usually eat a bowl of cereal before bed and maybe some cheese. My sugars are better with eating then without! Good luck! It's frustrating but so worth it in the end.
I worried so much about my first pregnancy and the stillbirth possibility but everything was fine! They do so many tests now and once you get near the end they do so many ultrasounds and nst tests that they almost always can catch it if your baby starts to have problems! Also if you ever feel less movement (your doctor will tell you what to watch for--I think it is 8 kicks in 2 hours or something like that) you can go in and ask for a heartbeat check at your drs!
Keep positive! This will work out great!!!

My doc told me to make sure I have enough protein at my bedtime snack. It helps with your morning fasting level. She said it is ok to have Aikens can shake drink. It has like 3 carbs but has a ton of protein. Also, I notice that if I am late in checking my fasting BS then it is higher than normal. I try not to sleep in much on the weekend. Hope this helps. I am having trouble getting my 1 hr after breakfast to be under 120. I am taking insulin but it has been hard. Have a great day.

HI --
I did have my ultra sound but I wasn't as far along as I originally thought so all we saw was the sac and a little flutter on the screen--no picture yet! :( Hoping that the Dr. will give us another one in six weeks or so. Hope you have a great weekend! Janis

janidawn - Saturday, 5 April
Duh...I just realized you had the pic up on top---sorry! It's the pregnancy brain working in full force! :)

janidawn - Saturday, 5 April
HI--Glad I could help.
As far as the amnio I am not getting it done and did not have it done last time. There is a risk of the amnio causing miscarriage and there was no way I was willing to do that. It would not have made a difference anyway on whether I would have had the child or not. Now they can tell through ultra sounds by measure the skin at the back of the neck and something else so I suggest to you to get that done if you're worried. My Dr. told me that the risk really isn't that much more for older woman it's just that there are fewer women giving birth after 35 so it isn't really comparable. I am getting mine done tomorrow and will only be 7 weeks. I would talk to your dr. about it.
Have you had an ultra sound yet? I can't wait to get mine tomorrow! :) Have a great weekend! Janis

HI--
I'm in the same place as you it seems several of you are. My last pregnancy was easier to get under control but this baby is not being quite so cooperative. I tend to panic when I get too low but my diabetic nurse told me to remember 15 x 15 -- meaning eat 15 g of carbs (like a piece of bread, or glass of juice or even a glucose tablet then wait 15 minutes and then check your sugar again. if it is still low then eat 15 g more and wait another 15. If you eat to much you will experience spikes which is much worse for your body and the baby. Good luck. It takes a while to figure it all out but after a while you will have an idea where you are just by how you are feeling.

In the beginning of my pregnancy I also freaked out because my blood sugars got to high so I also cut out most or all of my crabs. Then when I saw the dietitian she told me it is not good for the baby because that is where all of your energy comes from is from the crabs. She told me to limit my crabs to 45 for lunch and dinner 30 for breakfast and 15 for 2 snacks. I thought that for sure my blood sugars would be very high and they where but the nurse said I am going to have to manipulate my Insulin until I get it right. Keep in mind that you are in your first trimester so what will happen is your blood sugars will be all over the board. Work with things by changing the time of your meals and snacks but make sure your meals are at least 4 hours apart. I have been seeing 3 different nurses and 2 doctors through this whole thing. So if you should have any questions I might just know the answer. Good luck to you.

I am taking insulin also. I had a big low this week. It scared me to death. It was 49 before morning snack. I drank OJ and ate a peanut butter sandwich. Then my sugar was high at lunch. I did not know what to do. Do I take insulin or not. I did not want to have another low. It was 5 pm until I got a call back from the high risk doctors. I went by my regular OB and she no added insulin until I hear back from the high risk doc. They reduced my fast acting insulin in the morning and long lasting insulin before bed. Since then I have not had any lower than 75. I have been eating 30g of carbs at breakfast, dinner, and bedtime snack. I have a little more carbs at lunch. Everything has been going ok. Yesterday I was hungry and ate too much and then had high reading at dinner. I am with you on the rollercoaster ride. I know by the time it all gets leveled out, they will change again since baby is getting bigger. I guess we just ride it out and since we will get a great present at the ride of the ride. A beautiful baby. Hope all goes well.

I called my midwife's office yesterday and they told me that everything was fine. I still would have liked to know what the numbers were. But, the fact that everything is fine is great! I haven't spotted in over a week now...so hopefully I am done with that chapter.
