Just wanted to thank you all for your coments and advise. You've given me definately a reason to reconsider my appointment. I won't see my doctor till 18.3. So I'll tell her my concerns. She's just not very friendly and very impersonal (she's a hospital doctor-surprise, surprise). My regular doctor told me pretty much what you girls said. So thank you a lot, and lots of love to u all xxx

It's a GIRL!!!

17.2.08 17w

I am really not happy that we don't get paid maternity here. Not even a week! It really dawned on me recently when I was trying to work out when and how long I want my maternity leave to be. I'll have to work literally till I pop out the baby, but not to acumulate money for maternity leave but because I can't afford to be on unpaid maternity leave. Sure there is that Government grant ($4000-something now), but u don't get to see it till weeks after your baby is born, and I need to pay for stroller, cot, car seat, nappies, u/s etc now!!! It really sucks!!! So those of you ladies who are getting even the smallest maternity leave paid you're very lucky! It really is a worry to have children here in AUS. Sorry had to vent!

On a happy note: In 1 week we'll find out what we're having!!! And the baby is kicking every day now. Still just slightly but I can definately tell it's the baby and not gas. I had the doppler on yesterday to listen to baby's heart beat and all of a sudden it felt and sounded like the baby punched the doppler's sensor, which made this high pitched noise. It kept doing it and I could feel it. I guess it doesn't like it.

All's well here. Just getting over a cold or rather a stuffy nose. In 3 weeks we'll get to find out what we're having! I have a hunch it's gonna be a boy. Not that I really care about the sex of our angel it's just cos at my 12w scan they thought it's a boy, and the image we saw had clearly boy parts. Then again that early on it's difficult to tell, as their bits are swollen etc. Anw baby's heart beat is 147-150, as the doctor told me on tuesday. I also got to hear the heartbeat. I have a doppler at home though so I listen to it anytime anyway. We also bought a stroller on sunday, which was exciting and makes it the more real. till next time Babydust to you lovely girls ***

11.01.08 12w 2days

Sorry haven't updated for a while. Ever since Christmas I've been feeling sick like a dog (no m/s though). The hot weather has just added to it. We had to come back from camping earlier because it stopped being fun when the matess was killing my back, and I couldn't sleep. NY came and passed quietly. Now I'm back at work and it's not good. apart from the fact that I find it very dfficult to work due to nausea and dizziness, they're also making my life difficult, because I need days off to go to the hospital for checkups. I was ment to have my first ultrasound yesterday 10.1. but the hospital stuffed me around all day and in the end (very long story short) we're going today. So I had to take another day off, the second one this week (I worked half a day yesterday, and I had tues off to see doc). My boss cracked it becuase I didn't ask her befor I rebooked myself today. Anw I told her I'm not gonna back down because as much as I love my job, THIS baby is more important to me, and that it's not my fault if the hospital is disorganised. I'll be reducing my hours to have a day or so off and then I can book any future app on those days. She just really stressed me out. I understand that She gets upset if im so unreliable (specially since I've always been the reliable, always willing to stay back or work extra employee), but right now I have to organise my priorities. I also have some sort of abnormalities, that came up on my pap test. I had laser last year to treat it, but the virus came back when I got pregnant. So I may need treatment now or after I give birth.

Anw just wanted to vent. ;) Gotta go! to c my baby! xxx

24.12.07 9w 4days

Wow! Finally on my holidays! I'm off till 7.1.08. Then on 10.1.08 we have our 12weeks ultrasound. Christmas eve is almost here, and we're cleaning and cooking with my sister. I'm not much help though as I feel sick (no throwing up yet). Me and m dad are having my sis and her fiace and his parents over for Christmas eve. Oh! and of course my love is coming too. Tomorow I'm going with My BF to his family for Christmas Day. Then boxing day early we leave to go camping. Few days in the rainforest (if we get the good spot), nice and relaxing thats just what i need. Won't be too happy if it rains though :( I just can't wait till 10th Jan to see my little gummy bear, and to be done with the 1st trimester. Babydust to all you ladies ****

11.12.07 7weeks

Week went ok. Very uneventful. No Morning sickness yet, still just feeling nauseas. I'm just feeling tired all the time. I keep falling asleep while watching TV. This sat we have our Christmas Party, so that will be first time I'll go out since finding out. I'm kinda excited although I'll be the only one not drinking (drunk). :( Not that I was a big drinker BP. Our families are really excited asking about names and just general baby stuff. People are starting to 'rub my bello' which I'm not too fond of. Babydust to all you ladies.

03.12.07 6weeks

Wow! I went to my gyno today for my regular pap smear and asked him if he could do that internal Ultrasound. It was amazing!!! I saw my little grain of rice and saw a little flutter. The doctor said that's the heartbeat!!! It was just unbelievable! I couldn't stop smiling. The doc says I'm 6w 3d and his duedate is 28.07.08. He also kindly printed out 3 photos for me. That has made my week! Just wanted to let you all know :)

01.12.07 Sat

Well this week has gone by slow, despite me trying to keep myself busy.

On thursd we went to the hospital to meet our midwife and get a tour and showbag. It felt a bit surreal when she talked about breastfeeding and car seats. Anw tomorrow we're going to see another hospital, and on monday I've got my check up at my gyno. I'm hoping for an early ultrasound, to see my little bub and perhaps hear a heartbeat. I think then it'll hit home. Otherwise I find it still hard to believe that I'm pregnant, since I hardly have any sympthoms. Cramps have disapeared, no MS, my boobs are sore but it's not unbearable. Ok that's it from me. Wish me luck on monday! xxx

Baby Gender Predictor

5w & 2 days and very bloated!

24.11.07 Sat

I managed to get an appt. today to confirm the pregnancy (my sis went with me), and yes, we're pregnant! The GP didn't give me much more infor only a referral to a hospital. I'm supposed to call them on monday and see when they'll get me in. Told my bf and he agrees with me that I should tell my family because I live with them. It makes me feel really guilty that I'm keeping it from them. So I bought a stubby holder that says greatest grandad, a beer and a baby cap- I figure a bit of humor might ease the situation. I'm telling my dad tonight (my step-mum is away, so I'm gonna have to call her). I'm really nervous, but it'll be easier once it's done. Then around Xmas we're gonna tell his parents, and then I can relax and enjoy my baby. I am a bit concerned that my baby will be born out of wedlock. I'm not religious just oldfashioned. So far feeling great just scared to tell my dad. I'll keep you posted

22.11.07 Thurs

Dear All!

I found out I was pregnant only on tuesday, but since then so much has already happened. For the last couple of days I loved reading everyone's stories of how it all began. It just confirms me, in that, I truly believe that in a second your life can change forever. Here's my story.

When my period didn't arrive on Tuesday 20.11.07 I decided to take a test. Anw I took one and put it down straight away, to wash my hands. When I glanced over there were 2 fat pink lines. I swear my heart stopped for a second. I took the other two straightaway. Same result. All day at work I thought this must b a mistake! I'm on the pill! Maybe because they're the cheap ones they're unreliable. So after work I bought a twin pack of the digital ones. Took one and... PREGNANT!!! I didn't know what to do next. I figured i'll wait a day, let it sink in before I tell my boyfriend.

Thank you all who hav given me directions as to what to do next. Lots of baby dust to all! I'll keep you posted.

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

thank goodness for bibs, otherwise I would have to change her 20 times a day lol...but I still do change her a bit...maybe about 4 times a day.

steffy1724 - Tuesday, 23 September
yeah it is cold here in saskatchewan as well. what I am worried about is when alot comes out, I think its her whole feeding, but she seems content still...its my bf that freaks out, he thinks something is wrong..lol worry wart

menlomama - Tuesday, 23 September
My son burps up a lot too. Be careful with switching formulas. You need to give a particular type of formula at least 2-3 weeks to really notice a difference. Some days my son spits up tons (like today) and some days its normal. My dr said that a baby can spit up more for the first 2 weeks after switching so if you do switch give it some time to see if it really works. I know how you feel though. I worried about it a lot but my son is gaining weight. Now I'm just more annoyed than anything.

steffy1724 - Tuesday, 23 September
my baby is breast fed, and she brings up alot as well...like alot, it scares me sometimes, it is also sometime an hour or so after shes eaten, I think its because of my fast milk flow...as long as they are gaining weight and having wet and poopy diapers...all is well...

mommad - Tuesday, 23 September
Nope never did. She threw up the whole time she was on formula. If you held her, you had to have a burp cloth readily available! That was 9 years ago though, there are probably more options of forumla now.

mommad - Tuesday, 23 September
my 1st baby spit up so bad. it seemed like all she ate she spit up. i kept switching fomulas. the dr said that she was gainig weight not to worry.

Hey, I saw the kangaroo and had to have a look at your profile. I am from Aus and had my baby in June... Congrats on your baby girl. Hows it all going for you so far?? I also just turned 26, honestly thought I would have babies alot younger but glad for my beautiful baby Katie, I love her to pieces, it must be a mum thing.... Where abouts in Aus are you? I love this website, its great considering this is my first and I have NO idea... Take care

mjeans - Tuesday, 8 April
I wouldn't worry about the thrush, although its uncomfortable for you I don't think it bothers the baby...at least I don't think it did my son...he didn't have it for long and I think it went away on its own, its no biggie...enjoy your pregnancy and all the best.

noahsmom - Wednesday, 2 April
i had the same problem with thrush in my first pregnancy. they put me on a cream and it would go away for a few days and then come back! eventually i told the doctor that it wasnt going away so they put me on a stronger pill which i dont remember what its called, but it went away and never came back. good luck with it, talk to your doctor about using something different.

mjeans - Wednesday, 2 April
I had thrush with my first pregnancy and it was brutal, so I feel your 'pain'...eating yogurt helped me...especially the kinds with active bacteria, staying away from excess sugar and drinking lots of water...good luck to you and don't be surprised if the baby has thrush when it is born...its no big deal, except their tongue looks like it has permanent milk on it...only lasts a bit and then goes away on its own...at least that happened with my son. Keep smilin!

megbug - Tuesday, 18 Mar
Thank you :) My family and friends are being so supportive that it's not as difficult as I thought it would be. I'm so excited. I had a sono a couple weeks ago and found out that my little baby is a girl too, so I've named her Daisy Minerva :) I find it ridiculous that you don't get paid maternity leave. I have a little temporary job so it's understandable in my case, but if you have a regular job, it makes no sense that they wouldn't give you at least a little paid maternity leave. Anyways, best wishes to you and your little angel!

Hi how are you? I've joined a great new site for women that are due to give birth in summer, the address is http://summerbabies2008.ning.com If you join look me up. My name is Naomi. Anyway I'm still trying to no avail to get Molly to go on the potty and actually do something, This potty training stuff is harder than i first thought!!!

nimzm2b - Wednesday, 12 Mar
hi she's still in the pull ups and still not done anything on the potty yet hopefully soon!

J-Motts - Wednesday, 12 Mar
Hey - I read your post and wanted to let you know that you're not alone in being awake during the middle of the night....I wake up at 3/4 am, too and can't get back to sleep until about 7. This doesn't help when I have to get up for work in the morning! It's so frustrating, because I never wake up during this time of night!! I guess our bodies are preparing us for the sleep we're going to miss in another 20 weeks! Hope all is going well for you in your pregnancy.

Angiepangie - Tuesday, 11 Mar
I was having the same problem... but its gotten better since I cut down my caffeine and cut it out completely after 4pm. I still wake up sometimes, but I can usually get back to sleep.

megbug - Tuesday, 11 Mar
I have the same sleeping problem. I wake up around 2-3 in the morning and don't get back to sleep until time to wake up. lol good luck

nimzm2b - Tuesday, 11 Mar
Hi i read your post on week 20 page, usually i could sleep through an earthquake but lately i've been waking up very easily. I told one of my mums friend about it and she told me that it's my body getting ready for all those sleepless nights. I'm not sure if this is true or not, as i don't remember it happening when i was pregnant with Molly.

zaraq - Monday, 3 Mar
About the Colposcopy thing, I mysilf have to go for these every 6 months, and when iwas pregnant with my 1st child they advised not to do it and book it after id given birth, prehaps consult your doctor, i dont think its harmful to your baby tho.

JKs-Girl - Monday, 3 Mar
I have to go for the exact thing tomorrow morning, so I can give you more info on it tomorrow! I was scared, but have heard it will be ok, cause no matter what they will not do anything about whatever is wrong until the baby is born! So I shall return on here tomorrow and give you an update! It will all be ok though in the end! I have faith!

MommaD - Monday, 3 Mar
Colposcopies are completely safe during pregnancy. A biopsy will only be taken if they find a suspicious lesion. They will only take a minimal amount of tissue, if they need to take any at all. I had one done before I became pregnant. Remember, you doctor wouldn't do anything to you that could harm your baby.

Angiepangie - Monday, 3 Mar
Do you know what level of Dysplasia that came up on your pap test? There are 4 grades of Dysplasia, mild, moderate, severe or carcinoma in situ. If your not sure ASK! If its mild or moderate, I wouldn't be in a hurry to get a Colposcopy, because at this point in your pregnancy, disturbing the cervix that much is NOT a good idea in my books... even if your test results came back severe (which it can if you're positive for HPV) it doesn't mean it will develop into something cancerous...most of the time when women test 'severe', with HPV, it clears up on its own over a period of weeks or months. It just needs to be monitored closely. If they just wait a few weeks longer, it probably won't make a huge difference in your diagnosis, but WILL make a HUGE difference for your baby. If I were you , I would tell your doctor 'I want to wait until my pregnancy is further along'. I would hate to see you go into premature labour when your baby has a poor chance of survival, when all you have to do to change that is to WAIT a few weeks. P.S. If it were the big 'C', they would know already with 95% accuracy, and would have told you by this point. Remember, its your body and your baby, so its YOUR choice. Take care.

nimzm2b - Wednesday, 27 Feb
Hi thanks for the advice. I think i will give the pull ups a go. I think we are both getting a bit stressed out about it, which in the long run isn't going to do either of us any good. I'm going to give it a couple of days then start again with the pull ups, thank you again

BrittanyNmatts1st - Tuesday, 26 Feb
congrats on the baby girl new! like you we were all convinced that we were having a boy... but were having a GIRL to!!
