My hubby and I met through MySpace. He asked me to be his friend, I looked at his page and didn't see him as a threat so I added him. A week went by and he posted a funny blog to which i responded, that broke the ice. We chated back and forth through the internet for about a month, then we xchanged numbers and once we talked on the phone we never stopped. A week after talking on the phone we met, he came over and helped me move out of my house back to my parents. I had decided that after living alone for 5 years that I would rent my house to make some extra cash. We instantly hit it off, love at first sight. Within two months we were engaged. We set the wedding a year out to give my tenants time to move out of my house. We got married in November 06. We new right away that we wanted a child so we stopped using birth control. We started really trying around Feb 07, month after month went by and nothing. I pulled my back out in April doing some yard work. It was so bad that I ended up having to get 2 shots one in August the other in September. However, in July I was late 10 days but the pregnancy test would read negative. I had to have an xray before my 1st shot. The 2 days following the xray i got a huge migraine that i could barely open my eyes, on the 3rd day i got my period my migraine was getting better. While I was in the shower this very wierd looking clot came out, Sorry TMI, it wasn't the usual monthly clot, it was red and beige and clumpy. I didn't think much of it but i told a friend of mine whose a nurse and she thinks it was a miscarrage. She says it was probably an egg that got fertilized but that it didn't develop therefore the pregnancy test didn't pick up any hormone change. After that my period was all out of wack. I didn't get it for 40 days for the next couple of months. We decided to just let it go for a while and let nature take it's course. I continued to do research on the internet and came across an article that mentioned some over the counter cold remedies that were used to dry up your snot not only dried up your nose snot but also your uterus mucus. Wow! I started thinking and realized that the Claratin D that I was taking for post-nasal-drip had that ingredient that dried you up. I continued to read on it and found that there is an ingredient in a certain type of Robitussin that lossens mucus, like an expecterant - I found out that Musinex also has it and that i only needed to take a pill for breakfast and a pill before bed. So I bought a bottle of Musinex in Nov. 07 and an over the counter ovulation kit, since my period had gotten wacko early in the year I waited to get my period. I got my period Nov. 18 and started taking the Musinex. As soon as my period was over I started using the ovulation kit, as well as started jumping my husband every day. As soon as I saw a faint line I made sure that we did it and I waited 30 min before getting out of bed. We both believe we conceived on Dec 1. It's a raunchy story which I won't tell. Within the next 2 days I new that I was pregnant, I don't know how but I just felt it. I remember going to a baby shower on Dec. 8 and I was talking to some woman and I almost told them that I was pregnant. What was I thinking, I didn't know for sure. I wanted to lose some weight before getting pregnant and had started my diet on Dec. 1. I took my lab, Daisy, walking with me everynight. One night while she was running toward me in the yard she stopped about 2 feet away from me like if she hit an invisible wall. She looked up at me as if she had smelled the most discusting thing in the world. I found it wierd but didn't think much of it at first. The next couple of days I noticed that she stopped jumping up on me. Instead she would walk up to me slowly and place her head on my lap. When I looked it up on the internet, whether dogs could tell if you're pregnant, the stories I read seemed to imply that they can. My husband thought i was crazy and told me not to get my hopes up, but I knew I was. I was expecting to get my period on Dec 16. I couldn't wait that long. I pulled out the handy lap top and did some research again, the best over the counter pregnancy test is clear-blue. Although many say that they can detect early the most accurate one is clear-blue. I also came across a website that sells the test strips that they use at the Dr.'s office for 15 cents. I bought 15 just incase i wasn't pregnant and it took me another year of trying. Of course I couldn't wait for them to come in the mail so I went to CVS and picked up a clear-blue easy that said on the box detects up to 4 days sooner. I did one on Wed. Dec. 12 and i got a faint light plus sign. I was so excited but didn't tell my husband. I did another on Thurs morning because the box said that your urine is stronger in the morning, another faint light plus sign. That night i told my husband, "what would you say if I told you you were going to be a daddy?" He smiled and said "wait til Sunday", not knowing what I was up to already. I pulled the 2 sticks and showed him. He didn't believe it, so he ran to CVS to buy 2 more. I did one on Fri and another on Sat. The plus signs went getting darker and darker. On Sat. I received the internet ones through the mail. So guess what, I did one on Sunday and got two lines. Yay! no period either. Since we had 15 strips he made me try 3 more. I had a collection of about 8 positive tests. He then thought they were all faulty and wanted to see what a negative looked liked, so he took a strip and went to the bathroom to pee on it. lol As he was I was reading the instructions that came with the 15 sticks, It said if 2 lines appear you may have testicular cancer. What?? They must have had a crazy husband like mine pee on one and it came out positive. I screamed out to him in the bathroom and told him what it said. He came out all worried, i found it halarious. Thank God it was negative. I made an appointment with my Dr. for the following Thurs. He checked me and looked at me and said "your barely pregnant, I can't tell your uterus hasn't changed yet." He sent me for blood work as usual. While in pillow talk with my husband we dicussed the possibility of having twins because there are 3 sets in his family. We joked about how nice it would be. At my follow up appointment he checked me and said my blood work confirmed i was pregnant. Duh! I already knew this. He asked me to come back in 4 weeks for an ultrasound. As I was leaving i looked at my bloodwork and noticed that the HCG level in my blood was elevated. I was 5 weeks and it was measuring as if I was 9 weeks. Oh well! i thought and left. When I returned 4 weeks later, I waited for the Dr. as he came in he said "well, let's see if you have 3 or 4 in there." I said "excuse me" and he proceeded to start the sonogram. He was in my way so I couldn't see the screen. He says "ohoh I see something here, not sure what it is wait a minute, oh yes, there it is again, you're having twins." "What??? that can't be you're kidding." He said, "No, look for yourself." OMG there they were. I couldn't believe it but at the same time I kinda sorda new I was. This whole pregancy has been so wierd to me. My husband couldn't believe it when I called and told him. He had wanted to go to this visit and I told him not to because it wasn't going to be a big deal. I felt so bad for him, but he's ok with it. He went with me to the next appointment and heard the babies heart beats. He was excited.

I ended up loosing 8 lbs before I confirmed I was pregnant. Of those 8lbs I've gained back 7lbs so far. I hope to not gain much with the twins. With my daughter I gained 80 lbs. I don't want that to happen again. Thank God this time around I am turned off to sweets. I'm having a good pregnancy, just the usual morning sickness the first 14 weeks and now the usual heartburn. But I'm so happy, no mood swings or craziness like that. I do get emotional when watching sappy girly movies but that's it. I'm so excited about having twins. I can't wait. I've got the nursery theme picked out - Pottery Barn A to Z Nursery Bedding. I have the Baby Shower theme picked out - Two Peas in a Pod, just waiting to find out what they are so I can add some finishing touches and finalize the invites. I've prepared my registry list with all the things I think I need for twins. I hope I didn't miss anything. There so much more stuff on the market since when I had my daughter 10 years ago.

That's My Story!

Dec. 12

Found out we are pregnant 4 days before my period was due.

January 23

Found out we are pregnant with twins. What a surprise. I didn't know that twins ran in my family until my grandmother called me to congratulate me and told me our family history.

February 13

Heard the heart beats of each baby. Can't wait to find out what they are so I can stop calling them Twin A and Twin B.

February 18

Had an ultrasound done today to rule out downsyndrome (nuchal), routine. Baby A was very cooperative but Baby B wasn't so I have to go back and have the ultrasound redone on Wed. Baby A has a heart rate of 152 and Baby B has a heart rate of 161. Baby A is measuring 2.8 inch and Baby B is measuring 2.9 inch. Still to small to determine their sex.

February 20

Had the nuchal redone today for Baby B, still no cooperation. Heart rates today were 151 and 152. I was also told by the Dr. that she was 95% sure I was carrying boys. Wow! Two boys. I'll wait for confirmation from my next u/s on March 21.

We are having fraternal twins. They are each in their own sac and have their own placenta.

March 5

I am confused. I was told by the Techs I was having fraternal boys because they each have their own sac and own placenta. My Dr. told me he couldn't make sure until he delivered the babies but according to emedicine.com

http://emedicine.com/ped/byname/Multiple-Births.htm#Multimediamedia1

Dizygotic twins, which sometimes are called fraternal twins, are produced when 2 sperm fertilize 2 ova. Separate amnions, chorions, and placentas are formed in dizygotic twins (see Media file 1). The placentas in dizygotic twins may fuse if the implantation sites are proximate. The fused placentas can be easily separated after birth.

Monozygotic twins develop when a single fertilized ovum splits during the first 2 weeks after conception. Monozygotic twins are also called identical twins. An early splitting (ie, within the first 2 d after fertilization) of monozygotic twins produces separate chorions and amnions (see Media file 1). These dichorionic twins have different placentas that can be separate or fused. Approximately 30% of monozygotic twins have dichorionic/diamniotic placentas.

Does this mean I have a 30% chance of having identicals. In my dreams they look exactly the same, could this be a sign? lol. Either way I can't wait, i'm so excited!

March 6

Just came back from my Dr. visit, I'm measuring 28wks and I'm just about 16wks. Wow! He was surprised at how big my uterus is. Heard both heart beats - babies are diong well. I've only gained 3lbs so far. Yay! less to take off later.

March 16

I ordered a Baby Beat Fetal Heart monitor and today I checked on my babies. They were very active, moving and flipping around. The sounds were amazing. We were all so excited to hear them each individually. Twin B even kicked the microphone which was cool because it was like the first time that i felt an actual kick. The baby felt so small. It's amazing, the whole pregnancy process, the growth of the babies. I can't wait to start feeling them all the time.

March 21

I had my 18 wk ultrasound today. Still Boys! They are doing great. Actually, they are in the 90% for their gestational age. Big Boys! There is also only a 2% difference between them in size which is great. Baby A is very well behaved and Baby B is the naughty one; he's sitting on top of A's head, jumping up and down on top of him. My cervix is good measuring about 5. They also did blood work today to check for DS and Spinebifida (sp?). I have my next Dr. Appt on April 7 and my next U/S on April 18.

Baby Shower Ideas - Theme Peas-In-A-Pod

I was thinking of different unique things to do at the shower.
1. The center pieces can be a basket with different size onesies and fabric pens. Point is for everyone sitting at the table to decorate a onesie for the boys to wear later. This way I don't waste money on center pieces and I get much need onesies for the babies and every time they wear one I can remember who gave it to me. Cute right?
2. Game - each table gets an envelope. Inside the envelope are cut up words that make up a nursery rhyme. Each table has to put the words together to form the nursery rhyme. First table done has to stand up and sing the rhyme. Funny right?
3. Game - puzzle. Pick 3 tables to participate. Each table gets a puzzle of 50 pieces or less, cute ones that I can frame and put in their room later. First table to finish wins. Each person gets a pea-in-the-pod salt and pepper shaker.
4. Game - Bingo - Each person gets a blank bingo card. They have to write an article that they think will be given to me as a gift in each box. As I open the gifts they mark off the box. First person to get Bingo Wins. I have three bowls with spoons to give out so we can have three winners for this game - goes with my favor which is Blueberry Muffin Mix. check out ABCfavors - http://abcfavors.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=700.
5. Diaper Raffle - each person who brings an unwrapped box/bag of diapers has their name put into a jar. If their name is drawn they win the Grand Prize. I was thinking of a gift card to either Bed Bath & Beyond or to a restaurant for like $35. Something practical and appreciative of the fact that they bought a gift and diapers.

March 30

Went shopping today or Baby Shower stuff. My hubby bought everything we needed for the shower. I also went to pick out the cribs and dressers for the boys. Decided to go with dark pine. Can `t wait.

April 6

Took care of all of the Baby Shower stuff today. Like putting the center pieces together and all the favors and stuff. While my hubby and cousin installed french doors for our daughters room. She's getting a bigger room and the twins are getting her smaller "shoe box" room. Hopefully we'll be in a position to expand the house soon.

April 7

Went to the Dr. today says the boys are very big and i will get very big as time goes by. He asked what I did for a living as he fears that the babies sizes will mean I will be in bedrest last weeks before I have them. Although scary, it's good to know they will be big boys. My prayers are for an easy delivery at 37 wks of 2 healthy boys each weighing over 6 lbs. I gained 4 lbs since my last visit. That's a total of 10 lbs. I'm guessing all of my blood work has come back negative, the Dr. said everything looked good. Heard the heart beats and I'm starting to feel them all the time now.

April 16

This morning I started experiencing my pelvic pones widening. A little painful. I've also felt like Luke is drumming on my cervics, or trying to poke his hand out. I joked with my friends "he's reaching for the light". lol Although it's not painful it's a little scary. I go in on Friday for an u/s and a cervics check. Hopefully it hasn't shortened.

April 18

Went to my u/s today 22 wks. The boys are doing great. Luke is 1lb 1oz and James is 1lb 4oz. Luke is in the 67% and James is in the 97%, both big boys. My cervix is measuring a little over 5 which is very good. My next u/s will be May 16 at 26wks.

April 30

Had my 3D ultrasound done today. They are so cute. I think one looks like my husband and the other looks like me.

May 5

Had a Dr. appointment today. I've gained another 10 lbs, for a total of 20lbs. I'm also measuring 38 wks. Scary! He thinks I won't be able to reach the steering wheel by 32 wks - I'm only 24 wks now.

May 16

Had my 26 wk ultrasound. Luke and James are weighing 2lb 5oz and 2lb 6oz. I'm so happy they are looking big and healthy. My cervix is measuring 6.2cm. The tech said I was a great candidate for carrying twins. With continued prayers and luck I hope to bring 2 very big boys into the world in August.

May 17

Today I had my Baby Shower. What a great turn out. Everyone came and brought gifts off my registry and diapers for the raffle game. Everything off my list was purchased with the exception of the cribs and dresser, but I expected that. I'm ready for my boys. Everything I could possibly need, I got. I'm so greatful and excited. I can't wait. The day was beautiful, sunny, a little to hot but we all sat around the pool under the covered terrace, which had fans. The cake was beautiful and delicious. It was two baby boy faces in a pea-in-the-pod (theme). I saved one of the little faces and plan on freezing it for their first birthday and letting them have at it.

10 more weeks for 36.

June 2

Went to the Dr. today. Boys are doing well. I'm measuring 40 cm at 28 weekss. Dr. says he will not intentionall take them out before 38 weeks so we are looking at a planned c-section on Aug. 11 - 10 more weeks to go. He also said if I go into labor anytime after the 36 weeks that he'll deliver them but I don't think that's gonna happen. I gained 3 lbs this last month, despite my frequent visits to McDonalds and Cold Stone, very happy about that. That puts me at a total gain of about 23-25 lbs. My glucose blood work came back fine, no worries, but I'm a little anemic so he sent me some iron supplements. Next u/s is on 6/13 can't wait to see them and how much they've grown.

June 13

My boys are measuring 2 weeks ahead. They are in their 80%. A is weighing 3lbs 11 oz and B is weighing 3lbs 14oz. Best part is they are both head down. Hopefully they stay that way as I really want a vaginal birth.

June 23

Had my Dr.s appointment today, Heard the boys heart beats. I'm measuring 42 cm and 31 wks. Ask Dr. about moving the c-sec date and of course he said no.

June 24

I think I leaked amoniotic fluid today. I felt a gush come out like when I get my period, I went to the bathroom and there was a quarter sized wet mark on my panties. No consistency just wet. Didn't smell like urine or anything. I asked some of the other moms in the office and everyone freaked out and made me call the Dr. He said I had to go to the hospital to get checked. So I did. They checked me down below with a little swab that is supposed to turn blue if there is amniotic fluid. I thought the tip looked blue but the nurse said no and threw it away. They monitored the boys heart beats and checked for contractions. I wasn't having any. They then sent me to get an ultrasound done to check their fluid. That was fine. They also measured my cervix which went from 6 to 3. Big change but not in any danger. They let me go home which I'm glad because I don't want them out yet. My muffins need more cooking.

July 7

Had my 33 wk visit today. I'm still measuring 42cm and I lost 2 lbs. That surprised me as my new favorite thing to eat is french toast and ice cream. Hm... 5 more weeks to go.

July 9

Has anyone seen that Disney commercial where the little boy is so anxious about going to Disney that he says "I'm to excited to go to sleep"? That's how I feel about having my boys. I don't want them to come early but I'm so excited I can't contain myself. I'm addicted to this site. I've read every other site out there on twins and don't think there is anything else for me to read about twins. Can't wait. I've been nesting all this week. Cleaning everything possible, organizing every closet in my house, the kitchen cabinets and even the laundry room. Nuts! 4 1/2 more weeks to go.

July 11

Had my 34wk U/S today. Baby A is 5lb 6oz and Baby B is 5lb 10oz. They are huge! I just knew it. At this rate they will almost be 8lbs at delivery. I think I'll make it but Baby A has already dropped. Let's see. I'm so excited I can't wait.

Hello, Thank you for your visits to my page and your encouragement. The girls and I our doing fine and they are doing their normal preemie stuff. I wish you the best with your pregnancy. Take Care of yourself.

welchmomx5 - Thursday, 29 May
Yes, it definitely is quite different to nurse 2 babies as opposed to 1. When they were little, I tried to nurse them at the same time always, as they nursed so often. I used pillows to help me, as my carpal tunnel was really bad in my right hand, and it was hard to handle them without them. As they have gotten older, I find that most times, I nurse them one after the other. I usually feed them, get them cleaned up, nurse them one at a time for a few minutes, and then lay them down one at a time, to get them settled. if they are both fussy, I will go ahead and nurse them together, but this gets challenging when you are all alone, and there is no one there to help and hand them to you. They are now able to come and pull up onto the couch, so sometimes, I will get one situated and then the other will come up to me, and I can scoop them up!=) I know this sounds like a lot, but I think it is so worth it! I actually prefer to nurse them separately, so that we have our bonding time, but sometimes is also nice to nurse them at the same time, as it is more convenient as far as time goes. It is also incredible to look down, as they both nurse together, and be able to hold two sweet little miracles all at once!=) When they were little and I was using the pillows, I tended to hold one in a football hold and one in a cradle hold at the same time. It seemed more manageable, but then again, that may be due to my carpal tunnel. I nursed them on demand for months, as I felt they needed it, and it would keep my milk supply up. I also assigned each baby a breast from the beginning til now, as I felt that with supply and demand, if one baby ate more or demanded more than the other, the breast could keep up with their needs, and is has always worked for me. Although I still feed on demand, over time, they have pretty much established their own routine. They nurse first thing in the morning - funny that they usually don't wake up at the same time, allowing me to nurse them in bed one at a time. They then get in the highchairs and munch on cheerios, while I get the others ready for school, and may nurse again before we head out. They then eat rice cereal with breastmilk or formula(the only time they ever get formula) with fruit or veggies and nurse againd before nap time. They then will nurse once more before dinner, and then they nurse again before bed. They each wake up at least once a night to nurse, but usually fall back to sleep rather quickly. The first 6 - 7months, they would only sleep for long stretches at night if they slept in their car seats - otherwise, they woke up every other hour and opposite hours, meaning I was up EVERY hour. I was a zombie, so I had to do something, and I got my pediatrician's blessing. Okay, I think I covered all your questions and then some. I better get off here, so I can go pick up my kids from school. They still have to go til next Thursday! Feel free to write anytime!

You're so welcome. I'm so passionate about breastfeeding and I just want you to have all of the help and support you need to hopefully be able to make it work!

welchmomx5 - Thursday, 29 May
Hi, someone posted on my page that I may be able to help you with any questions you may have regarding nursing twins. I am currently nursing my 10 month old fraternal twin boys, Brady and Peyton, and have also nursed our other 3 children, the longest one for 19 months. Feel free to send me a post, and I would be happy to assist!=) Our guys were due August 14, 2007, and I made it to July 24, 2007 before getting induced at 37 weeks (I was already 5cm dilated and 90% effaced) Look forward to hearing from you.

vinessalynn - Thursday, 29 May
Yes, as the babies get bigger the movement starts to hurt. Every now and then I get caught off gaurd because it hurts. It's not just the kicks that get painful it's also when they flip around and do water aerobics in your tummy. Hang in there. I'm also getting tons of contractions right now, which I didn't expect. My poor husband keeps trying to make me go to the hospital, but I refuse. This is my 4th pregnancy, so the last thing I want to do is spend time at the hospital if I can help it. So anyway, expect more painful movement, and alot of contractions. I guess it's just normal with twins.

spadoinkle - Thursday, 29 May
yeah my girls are kicking very hard.. its pretty painful when they kick down low and i was acr\tually woken up by kicking last night..its amazing though heheh

JoJoUK - Wednesday, 28 May
You have a lovely getting together and getting pregnant story! congratulations to you both on twins! x

twinstwice - Wednesday, 28 May
I haven't had any US recently as my doc isn't worried about me much this time around. I will probably start going again in the summer closer to due date. I agree with you, I don't want them to come too soon. I don't want to spend anytime in the NICU, especially with our girls at home. My one girl spent two days in the Special Care Nursery and I felt bad not having her with me all the time. I just want them to come home with me as soon as possible so we can all be together.

vinessalynn - Tuesday, 27 May
Thanks for the input. I figured they flipped on me, but it's nice to get feedback. Today they are kicking more up high, so who knows how many times they will flip on me. I'm quickly approaching the point of no return so hopefully they will make up their minds real soon. I have another ultrasound and Dr.'s apppt. on Friday and I'm about to enter week 32. I'm definitely happy to feel movement up high again, but there's nothing I can do to keep my little ones from flipping again. Thanks again!

chefmcdonald - Tuesday, 27 May
Hi.....how are u :) I got my wrap from a site called 'theslingstation.com" all one word....I got the larger one so I could carry both of the babies in it...and dont worry you wont smother them :) it's a wonderful thing to have let me tell u....frees your hands up so u can do other things....if u go to the moby wrap website they have vidoes that show u how to put it on...it looks harder than it is....its wicked easy to do...I put mine on now in a few seconds...also at first you'll need help putting the baby...or babies in the sling...but after a few tires you'll be a pro :)

sophf - Sunday, 25 May
no! They are 6lbs and 5lbs now- predicted 9lbs and 7.5lbs at 38 weeks

twinstwice - Saturday, 24 May
Hi! 24 weeks this week! Crazy how time is flying by. I am still not ready mentally for these two to come. I am trying to enjoy my summer as much as possible and enjoy the girls on their own. They are learning so much and love going to the park, it is so much fun right now. They are also trying to mimic more and more sounds and they will have little conversations with each other... so cute!

So we are having one boy and the other is a mystery still.

I have had a lot of problems with my back, pelvis and hips too. But my husband and I took a holiday for a week without the girls and I having been feeling so much better (I think not having to lift them did wonders) though I still get tired and I have to be careful how much stuff I do in a day.

Are you ready for them to come?

Mommy2bMay08 - Saturday, 24 May
Thanks so much for your prayers! We had surgery on Wednesday and the girls have blown away the doctors. Their signs of TTTS have completely reversed themselves and they are doing beautifully! Most of the time if the surgery works they don't see improvement for at least 48 hours and even then it is only slight. 12 hours later they were already doing great now it has been 36. Now I just have to keep them in there at least 8 more weeks. Thanks again!

number4omg - Saturday, 24 May
Prevacid its by prescription only. it comes in a black and pink capsule. works wonders!

number4omg - Friday, 23 May
Prevacid has saved my life. Its safe for you and babies. Couldn't even drink flavored water before, now I'm pouring lemon juice all over my salmon. Never had h/b or acid reflux in my life even throughout 4 other pregnancy. Till I hit 3 months pregnant with this one. Good luck.

proud-mama-of-5 - Thursday, 22 May
Hello and CONGRATS!
I don't remember their numbers exactly but yeah they were in the 2 lb range around 26 weeks. Looks like you're on a good path!
Are your boys idential, or do they know?

pregos - Thursday, 22 May
Thank you and good luck to you

pregos - Thursday, 22 May
He is an ahole 4 that! LOL sorry... but I really want her to be ready... does this mean he is kinda forcing her or is this still pretty natural?

Oh my gosh that is so creepy! Not that your babies look creepy, they are adorable, but the fact that you can see inside your belly in 4D and actually see what your baby looks like inside there! Wow.
