12.9 hours ago re: your baby being fussy w/ your parents, it could be that they're over stimulating him and that's making him fussy. when my family is around my son, they all hover over him and touch him & make a lot of noise b/c they're glad to see him. eventually he does cry a bit and I have to pick him up and give him a quick cuddle -- he just gets overwhelmed by all the noise and stimulation. they try to be a bit more gentle and use quieter voices now, lol! 25brina -

37.2 hours ago Treyson was on 1ml twice a day (zantac). He now is on 7ml of Prilosec once a day. This is only the second day so I'm not too sure if I see any difference just yet. He was diagnosed at 2 weeks. He gets hiccups several times a day, stiffens up and almost arcs backwards when I am trying to breastfeed him. He generally screams after he burps or spit up and he vomits on occasion. The zantac helped a bit but he was still having issues with the acid coming back up. He eats VERY OFTEN both day and night. He can sleep up to 5 hours straight during the day but he has yet to sleep more than 2 1/2 - 3 hours at night. Generally he wakes up to feed every 2 hours at night...I'm hoping the Prilosec will help with that. Its almost as if he eats less and more often. If he happens to drink a bottle he only eats about 1 1/2 - 2 ounces at a time. What about your little one? What symptoms do you see? When was your baby born? crabscanfly -
Tuesday, 13 May that could be.. weird tho crabscanfly -

Monday, 12 May Hi, I've been using both BabyWise and Baby Whisperer. With the exception of last week, we've got the eating part down. My baby eats every 3 hours, but sometimes I have to wake him up for it. Other times he wakes up on the dot. What I have a problem with is getting him to stay awake after he eats. He naturally wants to take his nap after eating and his naps are sporadic. His feeding times are so on schedule, I wish I could get the nap part to work too. At night he still wakes up at 3am, but not always and his eating time is starting to shorten at that feeding, so I hope it will work in the next few weeks. I just got another book about baby sleep called something like 90 minute NAP solution. I'm trying to see if it will help. The only thing is I think they suggest feeding on demand and everyone I know who does that has a baby with a messed up schedule, so I like how the feeding is going. But yeah, no pattern with the napping yet. BabyHelton -
Monday, 12 May Thanks so much for your message!! It is SO HARD. Everyday seems a little harder than the one before. And I guess I'm especially frustrated with my hubby out of town b/c I can't look at the clock and think "in so many hours, I will get some relief!!" He keeps telling me to get my mom to come over and help, but having my mom here is another chore in itself. Comments on my parenting and house cleanliness might just push me over the edge.... mommytobe20 -
Saturday, 10 May My daughter spits up a LOT. Almost after every feeding. She's formula fed. I took her to the doctors for it & he said she will more than likely not grow outta it until she's like a few months old. Sometimes she spits up because of the hiccups. I don't really think there's a lot to do to help. I know some babys get what is called GERD. It's gastroesophageul reflux disease or something close to that. LeahG -
Friday, 9 May My son sleeps through the night & I think the most important thing is establishing a routine. We start bedtime at 8:00. We make sure that the lights are dim & the house is quiet. We also put on a very soothing CD that we have playing in his room. We play the same CD every night so he knows that it's bedtime. He gets his bath first. We then dry him off, put on a clean diaper with Desitin on his booty, comb his hair & dress him in his comfy sleeper. We give him a dose of gas relief drops (Mylicon or whatever brand you prefer). Then he eats. I make sure he eats really good. I give him a good burp & put him down. He is usually already asleep, but if he's not, he falls right to sleep. He sleeps in his swing. He cannot lay flat due to reflux, but his doctor said that swing sleeping is fine. The swing does not need to be on. He just wants to sit up. He sleeps like this all night, 8-10 hours. Hope this helps! Good luck. Anne-Palmateer -
Thursday, 8 May Lillie only gets 15mg of the med one time a day. It all started when she was 3 days old and she was diagnosed as being lactose intolerent and colicy. So with the advice from the doc we switched her to a soy formula but after a week or so she would scream when I fed her. She would be fine when she wasn;t being fed but as soon as she would start sucking she would scream and also I would be able to hear her stomach churning and gurgling from across the room and the final symptom I noticed is that she didn't ever vomit but she was very spitty and always had bubbles in her mouth. So as soon as the docotr put her on this med I saw an improvement in 48 hours. Lillie takes prevacid but it is a solutab so I have to break this tablet in half and put it in a med dropper and fill it with 2ml of water and then I give it to her. I would suggest that you talk to the doctor and see about putting her on something different. Good luck and please keep me posted. It is almost in a way a comfort finding another mommy who is going through the same thing I am so we know what each other is going through. Once again keep me posted and good luck Hun!!! Thursday, 8 May My 8 week old is on prevacid for acid reflux and we also had to switch her formula to Allimentum. So she has really made a huge improvement!! Good luck with your little one. It was a few VERY rough weeks but we seem to be on the right track!!!! Let me know how you make out. manda21 -
Thursday, 8 May My son was on the Zantac for a week but he is going off it. it didnt work.. I breastfeed and that is the only time he really struggles with the reflux, even though we know he has it because his breath smells acidic. He does well on the bottles, so we are takin ghim off the Zantac and I am pumping the milk into bottles for him. GOod luck withte Zantac, hopefully it works for you little one! mel-k -
Wednesday, 7 May What made your pediatrician think your baby had reflux? I have been having the hardest time with my 3 week old because he doesn't stop grunting and pushing all night and I feel so bad for him. I'm wondering if something is wrong? wendywendy23 -
Wednesday, 7 May you should try giving your baby probiotics will help her body digest! I'm shocked they are giving her zantac. Jo-Mama -
Friday, 2 May My baby goes to sleep around 9. She wakes up at 12:30 and at 4, then for good at 6:30. I'm not going to try to get her on any sort of schedule until she's at least three months old. A lot of those baby trainer books scare me with their strict guidelines. So I let her choose her own schedule. There is a routine that we follow, though, and I think it keeps her more consistent. We give her a massage before putting her in her PJs, then dim the lights, bring her upstairs, rock her to sleep...I think she knows it's bedtime when we're doing the same things every night.

Monday, 21 April it does sound like postpartum depression i had it with my first and i know how you feel
the good news is it is very easily treated and the fact that you know something is wrong is the first step to help call your doctor and let theme help you )))hugs((( navywifemomof3 -
Monday, 21 April I haven't figured out the eating schedule yet, but we did figure out a way to get him to sleep better at night. When it's bedtime and he is fed, changed, burped and drowsy, we lay him down awake wrapped like a burrito. If/when he starts fussing, we pick him up, sooth him and lay him back down awake. Do this over and over until the baby falls asleep on his/her own. At the same time, play some soothing music like lulibies or calming clasical music. For some reason, it helps babies go into a long deep sleep. Trust me, I was skeptical, but it's been three nights of great sleep for us, so it works! Good luck and let me know if it works for you. robbymama -
Monday, 21 April Maddux, sounds like you have post partum depression. You should see the OB/GYN. I had it really bad after the birth of my son. It's amazing what they can suggest to help, even if you are afraid of taking antidepressants, there is a lot you can do. After I finally got help, I really began to enjoy my baby. Then I wished I had gotten help a lot sooner. I just had a baby girl recently, and asked to be treated to begin with to prevent having it again. It has made a big difference! The first few weeks with my son were a panicky, mopey blur, and this time around I have felt calm and enjoyed each day. I hate to think of you suffering. Good luck!
