I am 22 years old and this is my first pregnancy. I work full-time at a church in Aurora in their Communications department. I'm very excited and nervous, as most first-time mothers are, and I can't wait to see my daughter's face and meet her for the first time in May! I'm due the day after Mother's Day, May 12. =)

pregnancy week by week

About You
Name: Melissa
Age: 22
Height: 5'8"
Pre-pregnancy weight: About 150

About Your Pregnancy
Is this your first pregnancy: Yup!
When did you find out you were pregnant: September 11th
Was it planned: No... not at all.
What was your first reaction: Shock and disbelief.
Who was with you when you found out: I found out on my own =)

Who was the first person you told: the father
How did your parents react: They are so supportive and proud of me now. My daughter was not conceived in a "conventional" way, but she's been such a blessing that it hardly matters anymore.
How far along are you: 36 weeks!
What was your first symptom: I was running every day, and I wasn’t losing any weight. My boobs were also growing a ton and I started craving mashed potatoes. Haha. So I decided to take a test.
What is your due date: May 8th - right around Mother's Day!
Do you know the sex of the baby: It's a GIRL!!!
If so, what is it: A little baby girl!
Have you picked out names: Yes

If so, what are they: Caroline Jean "CJ"
How much weight have you gained: Over 30 pounds already! I told my friends I’d turn into a house… I didn’t think it would actually happen...
Do you have stretch marks: A couple small ones near my hips, and a few on the tummy.
Have you felt the baby move: Oh yes! She's been my tiny dancer in there.

About the birth
Will you keep the baby: Yes, and I’m so excited!
Home or hospital birth: Hospital
Natural or medicated birth: All natural. My mom had all five children naturally, and my grandma had all seven of her's without anything, and I'm aiming for the same thing.
Who will be in the delivery room with you: My mama my grandma

Will you breastfeed: Yup, the whole first year if I can handle it
Do you think you'll need a c-section: Hopefully not. No one in my extended family has ever had to have one. We're German... we're made for breeding.
Will you cry when you hold the baby for the first time: Definitely. I already cry just thinking about it.
What's the first thing you might say to her: In between sobs... You're beautiful. Thank-you God. I love you Caroline.

Would you let someone videotape the birth: No.
Are you excited about the birth, or scared: Definitely excited. I can't wait to be the best mama... =)

Well, after reading posts on this website for the past few weeks, I've finally made my own page! I'm 16 weeks and I'm getting very excited. I'm not going to find out what I'm having until it's born - I want to be surprised - but this child is a gift from God in the midst of a crazy time, and I am so incredibly thankful. I'm due the day after Mother's Day, May 12, which will make me a mama at the ripe old age of 22. =)

I just found out this morning that I am having a BABY GIRL!!! I am sooo incredibly excited! And they moved my due date up just a few days. But she was just adorable... she kept touching her head and her face with her little hands, and moving her little feet around. The U/S tech said that she is a very active little baby and that I should start feeling her soon. But I just love her. She `s my little breath of heaven. =)

Monday, 21 Jan
Well I `m at 24 weeks now! Only 16 more to go!!!Today I had my 3D-4D ultrasound and it was so amazing! First we took a look to see if it was actually a girl - and she surely is! Wasn `t shy at all today... Then we looked at some 3D/4D images. At first my little girl was covering her entire face with her hands - she `s always touching her little face. But after moving around a lot and trying to get her to move, she showed us her BIG smile! It was ADORABLE! She `s definitely happy hanging out in there. Then she was just sucking her little thumb and touching her face, eating her fist, the usual. :) But she was so precious! After seeing her I decided that her name is going to be Bethany. She just didn `t look like a Katerina to me... she looked like a little baby Bethany. Definitely recommend getting the 4D ultrasound.

27 weeks today! FINALLY hitting the home stretch. =)

Friday, 22 Feb
I just can `t believe it... only 11 more weeks and I can see my little baby girl! I still haven `t completely decided on a name, but my favorite is Bethany Jane (nickname Annie). But we `ll see! I might just wait until I see her to give her a name.

The only thing that `s been really hard this pregnancy is the issue with the father. I have a restraining order on him, and it `s just been really hard because not only am I doing this whole thing alone, but he also finds a way to turn this whole situation onto me, saying it `s all my fault. But I know my little girl will be a million times happier with a loving family, and she will eventually have a GOOD daddy - not someone who sexually abuses and drugs people. It wouldn't be fair for her to have to love this person when the only one he will ever love is himself.

Other than that, things are going great! A little soreness, a lot of back pain, but then she kicks me and I forget all about it. =) I love her so much... I just can `t wait.

Sunday, May 12

Well... three days past my revised due date, and tomorrow is my first due date, so I'm pretty positive she's a late one. I was starting to get really upset about it, thinking that she will never come. I always thought she'd be here by Mother's Day but I ended up celebrating my first Mother's Day in a huge mumu dress wearing a corsage on my wrist because it looked awkward on my huge body, and standing when the pastor asked for all mothers to stand. But as I got to thinking about it more and more, I'm really okay with it. I started Maternity Leave Thursday so I've been able to really relax and get everything done. I worked on her baby book and her birth announcements Saturday, and everything is washed and ready to go. I was really upset because I had been sent home from L&D twice, and I've been told that I would meet her within 24 hours by a doctor THREE times. I didn't know why no one would just induce me when I hear about all these women getting induced. But now I'm okay with it. I think it's just God's way of letting me do this the way I want to do this. I don't want to be induced, I don't want drugs for the pain, and I want to be able to labor mostly at home. So now I'm just excited because I know she's coming any day. So for now, I'll just enjoy my last moments of sleep. Because in a few days, I won't be able to sleep whenever I want anymore. =)

Hey!
Thanks for your post. It certainly helped to lift my spirits! I guess I will try not to foccus much on when she will make up her mind to get here and just try to wait! I hope not to be induced but if that's the case, that is fine! I hope you are doing well.
Keep me posted!

jen8282 - Wednesday, 30 April
Thanks so much, my hubby picked it out and it seemed like a good name so I was agreeable. I was honestly quite worried about what he would pick but all turned out well. Now if the little bugger would jsut show his face! LOL
Congrats and good luck with your upcoming delivery-hopefully on time!

barbi - Tuesday, 29 April
Thanks for the comment - I figured the cramping is normal but just wanted to make sure since they were so strong but no contractions. All the best in your last few weeks!

yvobreske - Sunday, 27 April

NumberFive - Friday, 25 April
thats cute, c.j ilike that,
ohman the pubic area kills, but i amlow alla long so i never had the breathing probs, he he, i feel for ya cause it hurts like a bitch!

jen943 - Friday, 25 April
There is nothing (including walking) that you can do to bring on labor any faster unless you are already close anyway. Walking will be fine. I want my baby to hang in there at least another week too.

jme0115 - Wednesday, 23 April
well i just got back from the dr too! She said my cervix was a lot softer and i am dilated to a 1 and 70% effaced. Which i guess is better than nothing! i don't use the primrose oil as much as some of the girls on here do..i only do 1000 mg at night..maybe it is working??

OurBabyBean0508 - Tuesday, 22 April
Hahaha I never thought I'd be having a 2nd baby. I went to 41 1/2 weeks and had a miserable pregnancy with my first, had 37 hours of back labor, he was born at over 8 pounds and I tore so badly I got 36 stitches. I swore that I would NEVER do this again! Of course here I am 5 years later and 9 months pregnant again! I think that over time the memory of those final weeks (and the labor) starts to fade and you love your children SO much that you're willing to do it all again just so that you can do it all again! lol

jme0115 - Tuesday, 22 April
No drs appt until wednesday..i dont even know if she is going to check my progress. Did you have yours this week? any progress?! I started the evening primrose oil thing someone suggested to help thin my cervix since i was completly closed..so we will see if that works!

piggycindy - Tuesday, 22 April
I been having that too.... try aloe base stuff it help with mine by a little bit. Also they let me take Benedryl if it gets really bad, but then it make you sleepy... also try tea tree oil it works on mine for a while until my itch move to somewhere else....

luvdeternally - Monday, 21 April
Palmers cocoa butter: Massage lotion for stretch marks. It's not perfect, but it's the best thing I've found. It has lanolin, and I think that makes the difference. You can get it at WalMart. :-)

marrisu - Monday, 21 April
they have not been regular. sometimes they will be every 5 minutes then I won't have another for 30 minutes. they are a little stronger than they have been the last couple of months.

angelbabies14 - Friday, 18 April
OMG your mom looks so young like she could be your sister!! What a great pic to add to your little girls baby book...I just took pic of me and my great grandma who will be a great great grandma soon I need to edit and post them soon I'll let you know so you can take a peek. Beautiful!

angelbabies14 - Friday, 18 April
We all need a pick me up every now and then... :) I'm feeling good today especially because the weather is so beautiful, the little things make me happy. How are you feeling?

jme0115 - Thursday, 17 April
yay! i keep telling myself to be patient and let him bake in there for as long as he needs but i just want to hold him already! CJ is so cute, deciding on a name is a hard job. Our lil one is going to be named Keegan Nicholas. A few more weeks I cant believe it.

Created.by.Love - Wednesday, 16 April

How are you feeling so far?

kimevansandt - Wednesday, 16 April
I've been dilated to 4cm for 2 weeks now! I'm 80% effaced and at -1 station and still no baby!! Just take it easy and I think you'll be just fine!

jme0115 - Wednesday, 16 April
the showers were good- but exhausting! he has everything he could ever need and more. He just needs to come out already! Had a dr appt yesterday and my cervix is completely closed, he isnt even engaged yet. I hope your appointment goes better than mine :) Have you decided on a name?

jme0115 - Wednesday, 16 April
how are you and baby doing? Looks like you had a great shower! Are you ready for her arrival?

rainbowbird - Friday, 11 April
Thanks for your reply. It is helpful to hear that the little bean is likely to move head down with gravity :)

kimevansandt - Thursday, 10 April
I know what you mean. I was SO excited when he said that I was already dilating. I'm really hoping to have made some more progress when I go back to the Dr. today.

Good luck!! :)
