Hello everyone!! This is my first pregnancy and I am very excited. I really have no experience with babies and have been doing lots of research trying to prepare myself as much as possible. That's actually how I found this website, and I have really enjoyed reading other women's experiences, so I decided to sign up. I look forward to sharing stories and experiences, and wish everyone a happy and healthy pregnancy.

A little bit about me...just a few years ago I was quite a partier and didn't know if I even wanted children. I loved my freedom and independence. I have been in property management with the same company for almost 7 years now and have lived on my own for about the same. After my first serious relationship ended REALLY badly, I wasn't sure I would ever find anyone else, or if I could ever trust again if I did. So I focused on me and just had fun for a few years. No strings, no worries. But all that changed two years ago when I met my current boyfriend. Neither of us were looking for anything serious, but here we are two years later, very much in love, living together and having a baby. And I couldn't be happier. I now know this life is right for me and all I can think about is having my baby. My boyfriend has a 6 year old son that lives with us full time, and that has been a learning experience. But when I met him he was already 4 so I really know nothing about babies. He could already walk and talk and all that when I met him, so I'm very nervous about how to care for a baby. I have signed up for about every pregnancy and childbirth class offered through my birthing center and those classed start next month.

I will be 18 weeks tomorrow and go for my first sonogram on 01/30/08. I am very excited and really want to find out the sex of the baby. I really want a little girl, but almost feel guilty for saying that because I am just about sure it will be a boy. I really don't know why I think that, it's just a feeling. But I will be happy either way.

January 31...

I found out yesterday at my first ultrasound that I am having a girl!!! I was really excited and surprised because I really wanted a girl, but really thought it was a boy. I had looked on the Chinese astrological chart and taken a lot of the gender prediction quizzes and everything said I would have a boy. I guess that stuff really is just for fun. I also found out that the baby weighs 10 ounces which sounds really big to me from everything I have read. I will have to wait till my doctors appt. next week to find out if he changes my due date. The sonogram info put me at 19 weeks instead of 18. I just hope she is healthy. It is really difficult having to wait to hear if everything is ok. She was very active during the sonogram and even got the hiccups which we could see. Now I just can't wait to actually feel all that movement that I saw is going on.

See how my baby is doing

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Sx

This is my fifth baby and I feel as impatient as you! My first was overdue at 40 plus eight days, the second at 38 plus three and the third and fourth at 36 weeks. Here I am at 38 plus three and I can't believe it! I am old now (38) and just assumed this one would have to be induced at 36 weeks so I feel like I am two weeks overdue now! I can't wait to hold my baby and you really have my sympathy. Lets hope we get to hold our precious babies sooner rather than later! Best wishes

Thanks for the recommendation, I will definitely try that tomorrow during my lotion sampling trip!

A natural cure you might benefit from: Rub plain yogurt on your skin, wait a bit, shower, then apply calendula oil on your rashes. Let me know if this helps.

Ps. You can make your own calendula oil by steeping calendula petals in extra virgin olive oil on very low heat for about three hours. I use 15 grams of calendula petals per cup of oil.

MamaPayne,
I had PUPP with my first child. The thing that helped me the most was using the Aveno oatmeal baths. I took one some time 3x a day. It went away for me about 4-5 days before I had her. But I had her in August but was due in september the heat was horrible and only made it worse. I empathyize with you. I hope it gets better soon. Hopefully you wont have to be induced but I am sure you little girl will be fine if you have to be. Good luck and congrats!

I feel for you.I had puppp on my 1st pregnancy and it regularly drove me to tears.I didn't find that steroids worked for me but aqueous cream helped a little bit. I spoke to my consultant cos it was driving me crazy and out of pity he agreed to induce me early ...the rash only goes a week or two after delivery....sorry....

i had that with my twins, head to toe i was bnright red raw, no one would take any notice of me .. so i went to see the consultant and said look at this and just took everything off my top half of my body, ohhh now ur noticeing, sent me stright to hospital where i was given steroid cream.... which worked ... i know how u feel honey, omg the itching was a nightmare, not even sleep would get me thru it,m id wake up itching...

Hey there, how are u feeling? I saw ur post about baby's movement. just thought maybe this could help. why not try to drink some cold & sweet which i also did esp., when i drink iced lemon tea, oh my god! my lil' man moving like he's having a dance party inside my tummy.Have a nice day!!:)

*pinkneptune - Saturday, 23 Feb
Unfortunately I haven't been very active during my pregnancy -- I just lay there and 'rest' most of the time so it was easy for me to notice movements. Don't worry though, you're baby is probably kicking around while you are asleep...the kicks are a little more 'gentle' at this point so you definately won't be woken up by them. Also, the baby may be turned around where she's not kicking up against the front ... but rather your 'inside'. Let us know when you feel that first kick! I was STUNNED the first time.

no worries i promise you feel it soon. you sound like me when i got pregnant with my first at 24 and now i', doing my 2 at 28 .. you dont no what to pay attention to to know what movemtn is .. i only do because this is my second so i been feeling flutters since week 15.. try this!!!
drink a big glass of water or soda ( caffine ) then lay down with head slightly propped up and put on something intesent like saw 5 .. and when you start to tnse up.. try and pay attention to your belly it will feel exacty like like gas bubbles or rumbles of gas but this time there will not be any gas coming out and this my prego friend is the baby moving

excitedtoseebaby - Saturday, 23 Feb
You are probably feeling it and writing it off as gas. The only way I know it's her is because it happens mostly in the morning and evening. Pretty soon she will be knocking the heck out of you!

About your question on feeling the baby move. I do feel my little one move more now this week than I have before, but when I went in for my US at 18 weeks the tech told me that I might not feel anything until 22 weeks. Have you had an US yet? If you have and everything was OK then I wouldn't worry too much about it, maybe you just have a calm and relaxed baby. Or it could have it's back to you and I hear that you can't feel the baby if they are turned that way. Hope this helps put you at ease a litte.

lilmammaof2 - Saturday, 23 Feb
