At first I joined this site back in April 2009 when I got my BFP. We were sooo thrilled to be expecting our first child together. We had one DD form my first marriage and Dh is an amazing step daddy to her. We wanted more for each other and more for our DD. We wanted to giver her a sibling and a friend. We wanted to create life together and grow our family. We were over joyed for 10 weeks.
I had felt really sick and was constipated so we went to the ER at 8weeks and they suggested some solutions for the constipation and did an ultrasound... we again had tears of joy when we saw our precious baby and its tiny heartbeat!
2 weeks went by and I was still not feeling well...back to the ER we went when I was unable to see my OB, however this ended up being the worst day of our lives. Our precious babies tiny heart had stopped. Our dreams were crushed and hearts were broken.

August 29th 2009- I got a BFP. The excitment is unbelievable as well as the nervousness. I haven't stopped crying and smiling!

OH! and they also determined that im actually 19 weeks 6 days, instead of 19 weeks 1 day! so my new due date currently, is now april 9th instead of april 13th! the ultrasound went great, baby looks healthy and nothing wrong that they noticed!

Just got my test results back and they are negative, yay! That means the risks of anything happening the next 2-3 weeks are very minimal. I am contemplating whether or not to basically go on bed rest though, since my cervix is still shortening. My own doctor is not a fan of bed rest, but so many sites say it may prevent early labor when you have incompetent cervix. After all the baby is pushing less down on the cervix when you are off your feet. My mom arrived yesterday and is here for 7 weeks, so that is good. It means that either way I can take it easier. I am also waiting to hear back from my doctor about whether or not we can do progesterone injections which is known to help prevent preterm labor. I can't thank everyone enough for the kind and encouraging comments you sent me after my last post. I was so touched by the friendships I have here and so thankful for the prayers. Much love, Karin

Ladies thank you all for your comments, info and reassurance about the heart palpitations. I had no idea how common it is during pregnancy. It is nice to know I am not alone and my heart isn't going to jump out of my chest! It sure feels like it at times. I will be sure to take my iron as many of you said this is a sign of being low on iron, which I was at my last apt. I will also mention it to the doctor at my next visit but feel so much better knowing it is pretty common and will go away soon! Again....thank you!

Dear friends, please pray for me and baby. I had an extra ultrasound today that I personally requested because is has been 8 weeks since they checked my cervix. I am funneling - meaning my cervix is getting shorter. It is now about 2.7 whereas it was 3.5 8 weeks ago. Studies have shown that women with a cervix shorter than 2.5 has a 50% chance of going into early labor. My doctor took a swap to test for Fetal Fibronectin, a protein that is produced when the body is preparing for labor. I should have the test results by the end of the day. If they are positive there is a 15% chance I will go into labor the next 2 weeks. Please pray it will be negative!! Either way they will be keeping a close eye on me and I will have another ultrasound in two weeks. I am so glad I followed my heart and requested this extra scan, even if I don't have any labor symptoms. Of course I am anxiously waiting for these results - it will be a long afternoon. Please pray for me. xox Karin

Another strange symptom-The last couple days I have felt my heartbeat really fast, usually while I am laying in bed or sitting on the sofa. It is really fast, makes me short of breath, kinda dizzy and just overall a weird feeling. It last about 5 seconds and may repeat 10 seconds later or an hour later. It is very inconsistent. I know the heart works harder during pregnancy b/c of the increase blood flow, but has anyone else experienced this? It is really a strange feeling!

ok you guys....now Im not getting ANY colstrum (sp?) when I pump...i have a good pump, good suction expensive...I know its not that, im massaging...pumpin every 2 -3 hrs for 20 min....sometimes a little comes out on one side but none on the other...did it like dry up? or will it like just pop up one day as long as I keeo pumping...as long as i pump does it matter if im getting anything? is it still stimulating milk production???? thanks for any answers!!!! oh and omg the cramps!!!!! i swear after i pump that im in labor again!

I just got back form my apt. I didn't see the doctor I see the Nurse Practitioner again...one day it would be nice to meet my doctor!!! Good news is she checked my cervix and it is closed and thick, so I am very thankful for that. But still very disappointed with the situation b/c she then told me she didn't feel it necessary to do an ultrasound since my cervix is closed. I honestly do not know if she is simply uneducated about incompetence cervix and how it actually starts from the inside of the cervix rather than the outside, or if she was just busy and didn't want to take the time or if she is just plain careless?! I don't know but it is disturbing! On one hand I feel good knowing I am not dilated at all and my cervix is nice and closed but on the other hand it doesn't give me much reassurance everything is okay inside. I go back in 2 weeks at my regular apt and if I am having any issues I will address them then if not sooner. Thanks for everyone's concern, for now....all seems well!

Hello ladies
As for the cervix pressure and cramping I am having, I woke up this morning and it is back. I called the nurse line again and talked to the front desk and she informed me that they have 48 hrs to contact you, I told her I am high risk for an incompetence cervix and was a bit concerned, she then seemed to take me more seriously and told me she would have them call me back. So now I am waiting, still having the pressure and cramping. Just staying off my feet as much as possible. ~*~ On with the GREAT news....I felt baby today stronger than ever before and could actually see baby from the outside! OMG!!!! It was so neat. I had a big cup of coffee this morning (it helps with constipation every few days) and about an hour later I felt baby, it wasn't like before a little popcorn or butterflies, this time it felt like the baby was doing a summersault! lol I then looked down at my tummy and seen little ripples for just a few seconds. It was so neat. I guess that coffee got baby moving!
