Hi my name is Melanie and i'm pregnant with my first baby. The pregnancy was unexpected and my partner Daniel and I took a little while to get used to the idea, but as my tummy grows so does our excitement. We are having our 20 week ultra-sound in a few weeks to find out if the bub is a boy or a girl. Im hoping for a girl because everyone I know has had boys latley. Although we would be happy as long as our little baby is healthy.

My beautiful boyfriend and I just got back from our romantic pre-baby trip to Thailand. We spent 8 days in Phuket and 4 days in Bangkok. We had such a great time. Whilst we were away Daniel proposed to me on a beautiful Tropical beach . I said yes of course!!

Christmas Day

25th December 2007

Christmas day this year was busy! Daniel and I had family over for breakfast, we went to my Aunties for lunch and had dinner with a friend of my Mothers. The best thing about being pregnant on Christmas Day is being able to eat as much as you want, which I certainly did!! Little Ava was very quiet on Christmas day and hardly moved at all.

My little girl has been so active this weekend! I love feeling her move around. Although I can't wait to hold her in my arms, I think i'm really going to miss being pregnant! I had my gestational diabetes test on Wednesday, it all came back normal except for my iron levels which are low. I'm starting to get the nesting thing happen, when I can't sleep at night all I want to do is get up and start organising her nursery.

Today has been so so painful! I've had the worst pain just below my boobs on the right hand side and about the same spot in the back. It happens every few days, it's ethier my muscles and skin stretching or my beautiful baby girl loves to keep her feet in her mommys ribs! At the moment my hot water bottle is my best friend!! Looking foward to my day off tommorow! I need a sleep in.

13th of February 2008

We are now 32 weeks and 1 day pregnant! I have no idea where the time went it just seems to have flown by it seems like just yesterday I was 12 weeks. Our little baby girl will be here in no time. Although I have heard that the last few weeks really drag on. We had our 32 week check up today and My dr told me everything is going perfect and that little baby Ava is going to be a small baby probably about 6 pound. We had a scan and she has turned around and is facing down in a perfect position for birth. Hopefully she stay's that way. Im still working full time and have just started back at uni parttime. Im hopefully going to keep working until Easter, which is about 2.5 weeks before baby is due. I'm getting a bit tired and uncomfortable but I couldn't think of anything worse than sitting around waiting to go into labour. We are busily getting the nursery ready because I have a feeling that I will go into labour early (I can only hope!!)

17th February 2008

We had our Antenatal class yesterday. It was really informative and helped us plan what we would like for the birth and after. The only downside was the really really terrible birthing video they showed us! We are really getting the nursery sorted! My mother and I chose the material for the cot quilt (my mother is making it for us!). I decided on a date for my baby shower (1st March) I'm really excited. Mine and Daniels engament party is next Saturday so it's going to be a huge few weeks!!
