April 12~ Saturday

Scott James Birth Story

My birth story started on Wednesday and I didn't even know it... ((My water broke without me knowing it had happened))

Well Friday I had a doctor appointment and as he was about to check me, I told him that since wednesday I had a lot of fluid flow, but NO contractions. He told me he was sure it was discharge and/or urine and if my water had broken typically contractions would have started within 24 hours. So he starts to check me and immediatly stops, my water IS broken and probably has been for 48 hours. He tells us we need to go directly to the hospital-- NO STOPS!

Adrenilan kicks in and we hightale it to the hospital. (Around 3:00 pm) I get there and they hook me up to the IV and heart rate monitors and start the pitocin since I am not contracting on my own. Then Ty runs home to get our things, take our pup to a friends, and get the carseat out of my car and into his. While he is gone they check me again-- 80 % effaced, 2ish cm dilated, and YEP my bag is broken and the nurse can feel baby's head. After the nurse left I lost it and started to cry~ I felt HORRIBLE that my baby had been "unprotected" for so long. I'd had a weird feeling wednesday, but ignored it because I'd felt dumb going in the previous saturday when it wasn't my water. At that point my mom showed up and I started crying even harder (why is it that moms bring out that little kid "cry like a baby" emotion?!) She hugged me and helped me feel a bit better.

By the time Ty got back, I was having small contractions. And the doc was getting there to put the internal moniters in to make sure Scotty was doing okay. I was so relieved to see that he was doing good and there was still a good amount of clear fluid surrounding him. whew !

Around 6:00 my contractions were a little bit stronger (still not too bad) but I asked for the Epi. I dilated slow and steady. At about 11:00 pm the doc checked me and told me i was a 5 and that he wasn't going to check me for 2 hours, so to get some sleep and try to relax. At 1:00 they checked me again and I had dilated crookedly due to laying so long on my left side and his head position, but I was close (around an 8). So they flipped me over~ pretty soon I started getting a *weird pressure* but tried to shrug it off. Finally I had dh go tell the nurse. She checked me, sure enough it was him getting ready to meet us.

The nurse gave me a crash course in pushing and we started practicing while the doc got everything ready and showed up. Then the doc got there, dh on one side, my nurse on the other and the doc front and center, I started pushing. 30ish minutes later, at 2:53 AM a teeny little slimey baby came flying out. Ty started crying. It was such a magical moment (I'm glad I decided to keep it just us for the delivery). His APGAR was an 8! He had the sweetest cry I've ever heard.

To tell you the truth I actually enjoyed the labor and delivery experience. The IV was the worse part, the epi scared me a bit, but didn't hurt too bad. My doc and the nurses were awesome. We were laughing and joking the whole time. Even durring the delivery the doc and my dh had the nurses and I laughing.

The recovery has been crappy though. Since he came so fast, they didn't have time to stretch me very well. And I ended upi getting an episiotomy (down) and tearing (up). (THANKS GOODNESS for the epi!)

SCOTT IS PERFECT! I am so in love with him. It is amazing how deeply you can fall in love with someone! Everything about him gives me butterflies. Ty is so in love with him too! (Don't tell him I'm telling you :shhh) But the other day I was taking a nap at the hospital and I woke up to what sounded like sniffles. I looked over and Ty was just staring at his sons with tears streaming down his cheeks (& Ty isn't a crier).

FEB 7th~ Thursday

We wen't to Hawaii for our Babymoon! It was so much fun. Usually I am ready to come home from a vacation, but not this time. We were there for 8 days, and I really could have stayed there 8 days longer. I love the sunshine, beach, palm trees and the warm temperatures! I loved being pregnant out there too. It felt so good to wear flowing sundresses and comfy sandels. I also wore a bikini on the beach, and loved the way the sun felt on my belly. Ty and I rented a jeep and would take the top off and go explore the island, we found so many fun little places and met so many nice locals. And everyone there was so excited and sweet about my pregnancy. I kept getting free food, first place in the bathroom lines and comments on how much I was "glowing".

It was so nice to have some "couple time" before the baby gets here. Ty and I have always loved to travel, and I think it will be one of the things that we will miss the most once Scooter gets here. (I know we can still travel with a baby, or leave him with Grandma and Grandpa, but it just wont be the same "fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants" / "do whatever you want to do" type of vactions that we are used to). We allowed ourselves to be selfish... If we wanted a nap- We took one. If we wanted to go do something when we should be winding down for the night- we went and did it. If we wanted to lay on the beach drinking virgin margaritas and read magazines instead of the touristy checklist most people were following- we did that too. It was heaven!

JANUARY 8th~ Tuesday

Last thursday was my birthday, and to celebrate we went to the mall and got an elective U/S. The little stinker had his arm draped over his little face and was fast asleep. So it made getting any 3D shots close to impossible- so we get to go back tonight for a re-do. Hopefully he'll cooperate a little more. One cute thing about the way his arm was over his eyes is that, that is the same way I sleep and have slept like that since I was a tiny little baby. I wonder if that is a trait you can pass on...

My belly has been growing so quickly, I feel huge. Things like sleeping, putting on shoes, picking things up and getting up and down have become much harder then they used to be. I am no longer able to do pedicures at work, because they are hurting my back. But that I don't mind to much.

My baby boy has been moving like crazy, it is so fun to watch my stomach wiggle around with his little jabs, kicks and headbutts. I am always trying to guess what body part he is using to make such big movements.

ALSO- I had my doc appt where they checked for gest diabetes and they told me they'd call me if there was any indication of GD, and that no news is good news. So far there has been no news and it has been 3 weeks... so I think I am in the clear! YAY!!

I am 28 weeks today! I can't believe I only have 12 more weeks until I get to meet my baby. I'm so excited to see his little face and kiss his little feet. But I am also going to try and enjoy 12 more weeks of being an independent non-mom woman, because I am sure... EVERYTHING is about to change.

DECEMBER 18th~ Tuesday

My back has been killing me lately! I woke up the other night with a horrible charlie horse in my calf. My feet have been swelling so bad. But I have to say I have never been happier. Being pregnant is so amazing. I love it.

My newest craving is oranges and orange juice. I can't get enough, I am just starting my 2nd box of oranges.

My bump is finally showing. The past few weeks I went from looking a little "thick in the middle" to looking pregnant. I love it! It is the perfect size right now, I'd love to keep it this size for awhile, but with how quickly the baby is growing I am thinking that I'll be growing too.

My doc appt is tomorrow, I am getting tested for GD. I am NOT excited to get my blood drawn.

NOVEMBER 25th~ Sunday

One month until Chirstmas. I am so excited to be pregnant over Christmas, I think it is going to make the Holidays even happier then they already are.

Well, my little *boy* (can you tell I am still super excited to know what I'm having) has been moving so much lately. Each day the movements are getting stonger and more frequent. Earlier today he bumped me really hard 4 times in a row, I couldn't help but giggle. Ty asked why I was smiling and I tried to explain how funny it feels to be kicked from the inside.

NOVEMBER 22~ Thursday

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

On TUESDAY Nov 20th we found out that we are having a LITTLE BOY! I am so excited, and totally shocked. We both thought it was a girl! The doctor did our U/S and everything looked healthy and perfect, and then at the end he asked "Are you ready to see what it is?" We both nodded. Then he said "I already know, but I'll show you... Do you see that?" and there it was. Little boy parts. We both stared in shock!!

I am super excited, I was secretly hoping for a little boy. I can't help but smile everytime I feel HIM move now, because I know it is my little baby boy kicking me in there. We also go some great U/S shots, his little profile is absolutly perfect in every way. We even caught him yawning while doing the U/S, and the doc was able to get a picture of it. (So sweet!)

NOVEMBER 19~ Monday

Tomorrow morning is my ultrasound! I am very excited and a little nervous! Hopefully everything will be okay and we will know the gender by the time we leave. I'm also excited to get some new pics to put on my fridge. The last U/S pics we have are from 9 weeks when he/she still looked like a little peanut with tiny arms and legs.

NOVEMBER 18~ Sunday

I am a few days past the half way mark! Being pregnant is so amazing, every little thing about it puts me more in awe. (Even though there are a few of the side effect I could do without).

This little baby has been moving for a few weeks now~ my first official movement was at 16w 4d~

Now if I just knew what I was having... Tuesday (Nov 20th) is my big U/S. Hopefully this time the little stinker won't have his/her legs together, with the cord running over the *key area*. --Yeah at 17 weeks we were able to get into an U/S but the sleepyhead didn't cooperate. The doc did guess it was a girl, so that is what I am leaning towards now, even though I was sure it was a boy before that.

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com
