Thursday, 10 April YAY!!! That is WONDERFUL NEWS! I'm so happy and relieved for you. Now you can relax for the rest of the pregnancy ;-) Will let you know when I have my results. Take good care :-) Milf2b -
Thursday, 10 April Hey, I wouldn't worry about how much weight you have gained, I gained 15 lbs in my first trimester and my doc was thrilled (because I was 10 lbs underweight to start) Everyones body is different and if you are eating well and exersizing your baby is still gonna keep the fat that it needs. I am 33 weeks now and have put on 35 lbs, of course I feel hug but everyone is always telling me how small and cute I am! You look thin to begin with so I bet you will be the same way! Good luck to you! mrsalford -
Wednesday, 9 April I just wanted to check in and see how you are holding up... I have been having weird cramping pain off and on today and am hoping it's just growing pains. I saw the Dr. yesterday to follow up on the amnio and baby & heartbeat was fine. I'm still a little paranoid and wondering if you've had any cramping symptoms. kirstin -
Wednesday, 9 April I just wanted to see how you are doing. I know you are still waiting for the results of the Amnio, but I still wanted to see how you are holding up. I have kept you in my prayers and I hope you are doing okay. lelak -

Hi, sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, I've been super busy, anyhow the amnio went well, I'm back to work now, I requested the fish test and it came back normal, no DS, thank God and also my blood work came back negative no Torch infection or Cystic Fibrosis.
In 2 weeks I'll have the final results of the Amnio. I've been told that it's more likely to be the same as the fish test results, but I’m still little bit anxious and nervous.
We found out that we have another girl so we are very excited, glad and thankful that she is healthy.
My 6 years old daughter is thrilled and overjoyed to have a sister.
Well, thank you again for your thoughtfulness. I hope your amnio went well, and you got some rest I hope you hear the good news soon,
I’ll be thinking of you, I’m sure your baby is well and healthy.

Sunday, 6 April Hey there. I'm 23 weeks and so far I have gained 14 pounds. I thought that I was gaining too much . But after doing the weight calculator I'm happy to see that I'm right on target though. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy:) babiiluv -
Sunday, 6 April
You're very tiny for being 18 weeks. I'm 17 weeks and bigger than that..but every pregnancy is different, and this is my second. Congrats on your bundle of joy!!!!! mrsalford -
Friday, 4 April Thanks for your comment :-) The amnio went well,, it went by very fast. Felt a little pin prick and some mild cramping but that's about it. Dr. and assistants were very reassuring, comforting, and just wonderful. We found out we're having a BOY and couldn't be happier. Another 10-12 days' wait for the test results. Here's to hoping and praying for you and me...take it easy!.

Friday, 4 April Glad to hear that your amnio procedure went well Mercer. You and your baby girl will be in my prayers. My amnio is in a couple of hours and I'm a little nervous but having read your comment it's helped put my mind at ease. I'm terrified of needles, so will have my hubby holding my hand and we'll both be watching the ultrasound screen. WE are SO excited to find out the baby's sex and I'm looking forward to having hte rest of the day off to rest and relax - happy that it's Friday - YAY! Take care :-)

Thursday, 3 April I know how distressing it can be to have possible problems and have to have further testing I opted to not have the blood work done of AFP and then at my 20 wk scan they found a cyst in the brain and a spot on the heart, I then had ammnio and prayed and prayed, well this morning I got the call all was normal. GOD is AWESOME keep praying...... m3b -
Wednesday, 2 April Hi there, Just wanted to give you the update. We went in for our ultrasound yesterday and the DR. said it couldn't have looked better. Everything they look for was perfect. So they said when you have the lab work results that show and higher rate, then perfect ultrasound showing no signs.. they double the chance in your favor. So instead of our original ratio 1/128 it has now changed to 1/256. I do feel much better hearing the DR. I have a lot of hope and confidence at this point. He would like for us to come back in 4 weeks for another scan because the baby will be larger and better developed. He would just like to take another look, so that scary, but just hearing his reassuring words made my day! I think we are going to pass on the amnio after hearing the updated results. How are you doing? Have you had the amnio? Have a great day!! gr8scottswife -
Monday, 31 Mar P. S. Remember that doctors are mostly about the money. They have to be because they have big drug companies breathing down their necks to promote their products, so that they [the doctors] can get discounts. Doctors will order many tests and drugs for logical reason adn always tell you that it's for the safety of you and your baby when in fact it's for them to get more money. gr8scottswife -
Monday, 31 Mar I highly recommend using a midwife should you get pregnant again. Midwives are so caring and really work with you to help you overcome all things. m3b -
Saturday, 29 Mar Thank you so much for your kind words. It really does help to have support and talk to people who are going through the same thing as me. As you know words just can't describe what we are going through. It's tough that's for sure. About my Drs. Office I totally agree. I think they have treated us poorly, the nurse didn't even have compassion in her voice telling me the results. And to have to wait 2 weeks later for the ultrasound. That's just crazy! Their office is just too big to give people the time and attention that deserve and need. I almost feel stuck there because I am going through this and being 18 weeks, I just keep telling myself to get out of there. I have found a wonderful new office to go to, I know many people that go there now and all positive words. I think I may sched. an appt. with them and let them know everything and go from there. Decisions decisions.. Keep me posted on your journey. I will for sure let you know what happens Tuesday. Thanks again for your support. I know you are a step ahead of me in all of this, but if you ever need to talk I am here as well. =) jobean38 -
Monday, 24 Mar Hi there - was just poking around and saw your post. Because of my age (37) I know A LOT of women who have had the quad and triple marker tests and the results came back like yours. My doctor is opposed to this test because the false positive rate is so high. I know 6 women in the last couple of years alone who have had false positive reads and panicked like you (ALL babies were perfect). You may want them to repeat the test before worrying about an amnio. I'm really sorry you have to be subjected to this kind of stress because of such an imperfect test!!!! I hope if you go for the amnio the procedure goes well and you get the comfort you need. Take good care! jo adri012980 -
Friday, 21 Mar That was a feeling that I always had within me that my baby was ok but i must admit that my husband was more positive than me and look everything turned out fine. I can tell u one thing the amnio does mot hurt at all just a little pinch and a mild cramp and it's over no horror story at least that was my experience, one thing pleanty of rest for 48hours but i took no risk i took care of my self for 5 days Best of luck with your little girl and you will be in my prayers. Good luck with your little miracle. adri012980 -
Thursday, 20 Mar I am 28 years old. My Afp came back positive. I had a 1:10 chance for my baby to have DS. I was scared to death just the though of seeing my child like that broke my heart. Nor my husband or I have any family memebers with DS.I must tell u I felt selfish at one point because I am a Special Education teacher and I teach kids with DS. What would make me the exception a having a loveable innocent child like the DS children are. I took the ultrasound and it came back ok no gurantees that the baby didn't have DS. My husband and I argued because I decided to take the amnicentesis to see if it was true my baby had DS I could not live with the agony of not knowing if the baby was ok. I choose to leave everything in Gods hands and if it would be positve I needed mental preparation before the baby was born! That was my decision against my husbands will i took the amnio there is a 1 out 200 chance of miscarrige so it didn't seem to bad. I Got my aminio test back today after 2 weeks of waiting and I am happy to report that it was a false Afp reading my baby is a healthy baby boy. See my chances were bigger in getting a DS baby. I ask you not to stress at the end it's not worth it. Just take one day at time as days go by u will not worry as much. There is a lot of hope for you. Now is a good time to count our blessings. number5forme -
Thursday, 20 Mar Hi Mercer (love your name). Read the AFP posts and you will soon come to realise that these screens are more often than not VERY WRONG. It is really hard not to worry about these things but I do relate to you thinking that it will take the joy out of the reminder of your pregnancy. You are meant to cherish every moment of your pregancy and enjoy every second. You do however need to remember that there is a real risk of miscarriage for CVS or amnio but if you go to a reputable doctor that has plenty of experience (many 100's) then your chances are reduced even further. I always said that I would not do CVS or amnio as I could potentially risk a perfectly healthy baby to miscarraige. Unlike your u/s though mine was not very good - a very large NT. My husband changed my mind and even though my results were not what I wanted to hear (positive for DS) I do believe now that we were better off knowing...of course that was me and only YOU can decide what is best for YOU. You NEED to enjoy your pregancy.
You already have a healthy baby and you are still very young the odds are with you!
I wish you luck and happy healthy birthing.
