I have spent, like, the past 4 hours online reading absolutely everything I can about cervidil and pitocin. I figured it would only freak me out further but actually I found a lot of women who had really great experiences with both so that's reassuring! I'm going to talk to my midwife about it more tomorrow. The decision was so fast yesterday that I never even had time to come up with questions for her. I was like "omg, Gracie will be here on Tuesday, I have to call everybody". Then I read about the bishop score and I'm wondering if my bishop score is too low to induce if I'm not full blown preeclampsia. Gah. Long comment, sorry!

I was induced before and it only took 5 hours from the time they started the med till the time I had her. Good luck.

gbs is group b streptococcous, an infection down below that many women carry without symptoms and that comes and goes usually on its own. harmless to women, but can pose risk to baby. That's why you get tested just before you are due to have baby, so they can treat you as you are delivering, which prevents baby from getting it. If your doctor never mentioned it then he might be one of those who just treat every woman, or you might be high-risk (not sure who is high risk) and he'll just give the med regardless. Some docs wait till a little later, since gbs can go away on it's own in a matter of weeks, and the test can determine more accurately if you'll have it at the time of birth, if you take the test sooner to the time you are due. Hahaha I sound so smart. I was paraphrasing from what to expect when you're expecting. GL hope it helps
