Hi .. please read my blogs for more details!!! I have just started writing them.

5/18/08

Aloha!!

Hi mommies hope you all are having a lovely day. Here in Seattle the weather is gorgeous. Yesterday my friends threw me a Hawaii theme surprise baby shower. It was so awesome :-). I had not even made my registry or shopped for anything at all. But now I have a good head start :-). I feel so good today :-) :-)

4/19/08

hi all, I had my repeat scan yesterday. My previous scan was at 20 weeks but they called me again to take a closer look at my baby's heart. I was freaked out but I got a lot of supportive messages from you all. Apparently there were two issues, 1. They could not see ventricular outflow tract 2. They noticed an echogenic focus (bright spot) in baby's Left Ventricle. This week the radiologists were able to visualize the LVOT so that was good news but the echogenic focus was still there :-(. It is usually a marker for DS if it seen along with some other markers. In our case since this was the only marker and my other tests were negative doctor said that the probability is too low. I wish this spot weren't there but when something like this happens you seem to appreciate life all the more. I was getting used to taking things for granted. I will try to think happy thoughts and will pray that my baby will be healthy. I pray the same for you all :-).

Thanks so much for your kind comments regarding the issue of my baby's U/S scan. We are schedule for a repeat scan next week. Your kind words, comments and prayers have helped me think positive. I was very upset but you all are great :). I am hoping for the best. I will keep you posted with my next scan results. I received 50+ messages and I am so glad to have such great people to help. I could not reply to each message individually,, so I am blogging this. Thanks so much!!!!

Hi Momjo, Congratulations! I was also worried about my vitamin intake and what's best. I asked my ob/gyn and she was about to prescibe a prenatal vitamin for me, but then changed her mind and told me, don't worry about the prescription, they usually charge a lot more and they contain the exact same ingredients as any over the counter brand. So she recommended I buy an OTC prenatal vitamin and take an additional iron vitamin 28mg 3times a day, due to me developing anemia with this pregnancy. I thought you might be interested in knowing this and maybe ask your doc to make sure how your blood is, in case you may need additional supplements like I do. The baby absorbs everything, this why calcium is also extremely important for us as women and mommies to be.
Keep me updated, & good luck!

Hi, I also suffer from migraines pre-pregnancy, and around 12- 14 weeksn they got really bad. but since then they have stoppped. Someone told me to try pepermint oil and rub it on your temples. Also try going for a swim or a massage. Try and get lots of rest.

How much s=did you pay and what kind? Just curious. Let me know how it goes. If you can't hear it let me know and I might have some tips.

My neighbor's preg too- and getting migraines. Found out it was the B6 she was taking for the morning sickness. Try stopping all supps. besides your prenatal and see if it helps. Of course, discuss w/ dr. first!

Thanks for the comment. I'm not that concerned just curious what everyone thought. I bought the Bistos Hi Bebe Doppler for $115 on the web. Can't remember what site but google it and it will come up. It also came with gel. I got it at 10 weeks and I could not hear the heartbeat for a few days but then heard it on the third try or so. You have to be patient and move the wand very slowly and at different angles but I always hear it. Sometimes it takes 5-10 minutes but be patient. And as they get bigger it will be easier. I definately recommend this one b/c it is one of the least expensive and works well. Some are as high as $500. You can also rent some for $25 mo, which might work for you too. Those are at babybeats.com. Good Luck!!!!!!

Hi Momjo-
My 2nd u/s was also good. I think (fingers crossed) the spotting might finally be coming to an end, although in the past when i thought that it started up again. I am glad to hear your emergency scan went well. My doctor didn't diagnose me with cervical erosion or anything really (maybe i should get a new doc!). In any case the last couple of days i am starting to feel more like myself. A little more energy and less nausea (what a relief). How are you feeling? I have the nuchal test next week so i get to see the baby one more time and then i have to wait until the 20 week scan. Seems i am always anxiously awaiting the next thing. I tested positive for CF and we are also waiting for the results of my husbands test. This whole pregnancy thing...it is just one big waiting game :)

kelupstate - Tuesday, 15 Jan
I hope all went well at your emergency u/s. You're in my thoughts.

Hey momjo. I have been spotting since Dec.21 off and on. Last week it was an all week thing. Had another u/s today and all is good! Told me not to worry. If it gets bright red go to emerg as soon as you can. All the best to ya and sticky babydust!!!!

congratulations on your pregnancy! How are you feeling? x

MomJo- I have been spotting brown blood since 5 weeks (I am now 9.5 weeks and due aug 7). I was mildly bleeding bright red last week and got scared. I called my doctor and he sent me over for an u/s. Turns out my baby is fine and looking great. The bleeding stopped that day and i am back to the occasional brown spots. My doctor told me to take it easy and not worry. He said sometimes there is some bleeding and it just resolves itself by the end of the first trimester. In any case, any time your are bleeding red you should notify your doctor. He will probably want to check you and get you an ultrasound to check things out. I am having a second u/s on weds to confirm again that things are still ok. I am not complaining...it is great (and reassuring!) to see the baby every time! Also, just to note my nausea had gone away that week which made me worry more. This week it is back with a vengence! It can come and go so don't worry about that either!

Hi MomJo,
this is my second pregnancy, I also had the odd spot of blood and then today there was more than just a spot.It wasn't a lot but enough to make my discharge more pink with a few red bits. At first I started to worry, but now that I've been reading through some of these comments I'm reminded that in my first pregnancy I didn't find out until I was 3 months. Just as I was starting to realise that I had not had my period in quite a while, I one day got just enough blood to think that I was getting my period. the next two days I had absolutly none and thats when I did the test! My boy is now 7yrs and my pregnancy was described as 'grossly normal'. So my advice would be, don't panic, but for an expert opinion, do you have a health advice line you can phone over there? We have a couple here in Australia and its just nice to hear it from a professional

strackbaby - Sunday, 6 Jan
Thanks for the advice about the migraines. Yeesh...they are terrible tho aren't they!? Good luck with your pregnancy!!!

reneemt78 - Sunday, 6 Jan
Congrats on your pregnancy and I wish you the best of luck!! :)

reneemt78 - Sunday, 6 Jan
Call your Dr and leave a message and ask for a nurse to call you back about your bleeding! If you are bleeding a lot and it is bright red go to your ER department!! If you are bleeding just a little and it's brownish I wouldn't worry too much about it as that's normal but your dr's office should know either way!! Call them on monday but if you are really scared and you have bleeding again go to your ER!!

I will also have days when I feel great, but the next day or two the symptoms are back. Try not to worry, that's just part of it.

J-Motts - Monday, 24 Dec
I'm the same way, Momjo....I haven't had nausea for about 5 days now. I'm a little concerned as well, but it seems that symptoms do fluctuate and decrease a little as time passes. I'm sure everything is fine - try to enjoy the break!

1hotmooma - Monday, 24 Dec
Hey swetie. I'm from week 25 and saw your concern. When I was 8wks i too lost all my symptoms and subsequently started to freak. Its perfectly normally. My doc said some peoples baby grow faster than others and henceforth they hit milestones faster.

lglenn38 - Wednesday, 19 Dec
Hi Momjo,
Your situation sounds exactly like mine. My doctor told me the following, they should do an internal exam and confirm that the cervix is long, hard and closed. My doctor also said that there is less concern if the blood is only when wiping, not in your pants or underwear. The other thing she let me know is that the brown discharge is most likely old blood. Trust me when I say I know what you are going through because I was a nervous wreck until I had my ultrasound and saw the baby's heart beat.

mintypeterson - Friday, 14 Dec
Hi just wanted to say hi, noticed you are due around the same time as me! Hope your spotting is nothing major i have definately heard friends say they had implantation bleeding so Im sure it'll be fine! Im in Brisbane Australia. I stopped in Seattle a couple of years back its a great city. We were due to pass through and stayed a week! Cheers Megan

MomJo - Friday, 14 Dec
Nora's comment made me feel slightly better. Thanks Nora! We saw the baby in ultrasound ... i feel so happy and very excited. I had no idea that little thing would give me so much joy. All we could say was 'wow'. so far things look good. Doc has advised me not to do hectic activities and has also prescribed me bunch of vitamins.

Nora - Thursday, 13 Dec
Hi MomJo, I had brown spotting for 4 or 5 days during my 5th week. I went to the ER and they did an ultrasound and found a gestational sac. That's it. That's all they can do so early on. They will check your HCG levels. If they continue to rise, you should be fine. I've read in pregnancy books that a large percentage of women spot in early pregnancy. You're probably fine. Congrats on your pregnancy! I'm in Seattle as well. Nice weather, eh? Haha Have a great trip, Nora
