Hello, my name is Caroline. I live in Mebane, NC which is near Raleigh. Im 19 years old. My fiance's name is Howard but everyone calls him Trey. Him and I are expecting our first baby May 22nd. Neither one of us have children so this will be the beginning of the rest of our lives- we are so anxious and excited to start this new family. As soon as our little Aaron arrives, we plan to get married as soon as possible. We dont plan on having the actual wedding, just going to get the paper work because he will be leaving for basic training for the army in June. Once he returns, thats when we will have the wedding we have both always dreamed of. I am also currently a store manager for an AT&T Wireless agency.

As a young mother, i am terrified, scared, nervous, BUT ALSO happy, excited, and anxious. I have never raised a child before so im probably going to be very cautious about every little detail in my little girls life. At night when my fiance and i go to bed, Aaron starts kicking and moving alot and the only way she will stop is if Trey has his hands on my belly. That makes me smile. I have many questions and concerns about every feeling and movement i get so if decide to become a friend of mine, please know now that i will be asking you many questions that may seem very silly. With that being said, i do enjoy meeting other ladies in the same situation as myself. its always nice to have someone who's going thru the same things as myself so i have someone to talk to. So thats me....take it or leave it. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

Hey Caroline,

Dont worry about it. It really is not that big of a deal. I am sure you meant well and wanted to let us all know the possible emergencies that can happen.
Sometimes it just feels like everyone is being negative when it comes to pregnancy etc and it gets hard to hear after a while. Im sure you were not out to frighten us. There are 1000 things that can happen but it is more comforting to be ignorant and hope for the best this late in pregnancy. One more week to go and counting.
Im glad your enjoying your baby and hope you get 100% better soon.
Thanks for caring enough to reply.

Nosocomial infections are unfortunately quite common these days in hospitals. You should speak to a lawyer. You can be reiumbursed and have a little settlement to make you and your baby more comfy financially. If you truely believe the doctor is at fault, then it is negligence on his and the hospitals part. Thanks for sharing your story--

Hi. I am sure you meant well with your story but i guess at this late stage of pregnancy, aside from being told how huge we are, people love telling us their horror stories to freak us out right before our babies are due. Lucky this is my 3rd so i know what im in for but my worst fear is to go through labour and then have to have a ceaser let alone one with all those problems. I guess it is good to know about other options just in case but maybe a little less detail would have made it a bit easier to read. Thanks for your thoughts though and hopefully we wont have the same problems.

Well, I slowed down the eating process and yeah, it ticked him off a little bit but overall it was a better experience. We'll keep trying that method and see how it goes. (Makes since to me.) Hunter did so much better with it. Originally I was burping him more often but I guess I got lazy or A.D.D. He's snoozing right now and I haven't quite decided if I should do the same thing. I've been working on him sleeping in the crib but when he falls asleep in his swing, I won't move him. When he falls asleep in my arms, I can move him to the crib. It's a work in progress. =)

Hey, I think that the idea of putting baby in the bed being dangerous is a bit overrated myself. I let my son sleep with me all the time, and you're right, it is good cuddle/bonding time..I even noticed that sometimes if I lay him on the opposite side of the bed, he somehow scoohes his way over to me lol

Thanks for posting the tip on feeding. I think Hunter is eating to fast too. I'll start burping more often. Sometimes it seems like he throws up half the bottle and then he's hungry again pretty shortly. Poor little guy. My little piggy is very impatient and you're totally right about pissing him off when I stop to burp him frequently. However, I think you're right about the time outs during feeding. I'll work on slowing things down.

WOW! i think that might be what Oliver's problem is!! he DOES make a really strange sound when he eats, like almost a hyperventilating hiccup sound!!! we do burp him very often, but i guess we don't really give him time after that... i'll try waiting the 30 seconds. awesome! i hope that's all this is!!!! thanks for the advice, i'll let you know how it goes!

missannie - Sunday, 8 June
hey! so yeah... i've actually heard of the condensed milk/karo syrup concoction. it really worked??!! that makes me want to try it too... i have quite the puker on my hands here. in fact, i JUST got out of the shower, fed Oliver a bottle, and he puked all over my freshly washed hair. go figure.

my pediatrician had mentioned karo syrup to me as well, i guess it's good for helping with constipation in babies. we never tried it becuase he got over his poopie problems without it, but my doctor HAS mentioned it.... so it can't be that harmful. and you're right... when you're 50 years old, things are going to start to quit on you... regardless of what you were fed as a newborn. weirdos. people love having something to blame for their health problems.

i wonder if you could just add the karo syrup to some enfamil instead of the condensed milk.... then he'd get the nutrients and hopefully not throw up...? or maybe he still would. it's all trial and error at this point!!!

if you do ask your ped. you should let me know what he says! if that works, i'm definitely on board!

ps. yes, yes, banana pancakes is where it's at. :)

AAGH! Sounds like your experience was worse than mine! I had emergency c-section too, and my wound split after the staples came out. My husband had to "pack" the wound twice a day. I healed fully in 6 weeks. How much formula do you put in your son's bottle? it sounds like he is a snacker. Maybe if he took more at each feeding he would go longer?

missannie - Thursday, 5 June
hey, i just read your post about your c-sec troubles and sleepless nights. i'm SO sorry to hear about your owies!!! i can't imagine... my episiotomy was bad enough, but it sounds like you have it 8,000,000,000 times worse! and a newborn is definitely the icing on the stress cake, i'm sure. i'm having the same problem with my little guy... he eats like a pig! about 1-2 oz every 1-2 hours. i haven't necessarily found a "trick" yet, but when i ask people if i'm feeding him too much, they say "newborns only eat if they're hungry." so i guess that makes sense... unlike any other age of a person, they won't eat emotionally or anything (lol, can you imagine???). i've also realized that a newborns stomach is about the size of a golf ball, so they can't really hold much. that's why they seem to eat all the time. as they get a little bigger, their stomach will too, and the feedings will become bigger but father between. that will hopefully let us get a little rest!!! i've also resorted to burping him every 1/2 ounce, so he has room to eat more in one feeding. it helps some...?
ok, sorry for the novel. hang in there, my dear! it will get better!

my goodness! what are those people doing to you?? you poor thing!!!!!!!! It is hard raising a new born, but especially with what your going through i cant imagine!

this girl is AMAZING! compaired to my son everything has been a piece of cake with her! she was so much smaller so the birth was easy, i healed like in no time, and she doesnt sleep fully through the night, no newborn does, but she sleeps for nice long intervals so its not so bad being woken up. we had thrush which is absolutely the worst thing in the world...i men birth is bad but at least it doesnt repeat everycouple of hours on a regular schedule!!! i was in tears everytime i went to feed her...but we got medicine and its all ok now! but i am so glad she is easier than drew, because he is two handfuls on his own, if she was giving me problems i would be going insane!

luckily he loves her tons! when he is throwing fits i use her to calm him down! he will be having a tantrum and i'll say "drew look at the baby, she wants to know why your crying" and he'll wipe his eyes walk over and kiss her forehead. he doesnt want her worrying about him lol when im trying to trick him into going where i want him i tell him his sister is in there! im so mean...sometimes she really is! he wants to hold her and see her and he tries to give her her pacifier and blankets, even when she doesnt want them.lol

well i have gotten to use the bag and the socks you sent me but alexis is still wearing preemie clothes! i had to rush out and buy some when she was born...but i promise just as soon as she fits into the outfit i will put her in it and take pictures for you!!!!!!

oh and i have amazingly great and wonderful news!!!! Andrew (hubby) is going to be taking leave to come see us next month! im so excited! i can't wait to see him...he was lying about the whole octoberfest thing...he never intended to go...he was trying to come home for my birthday! unfortunately hes not quite gunna make it for my birthday...but hes coming home so i dont care!!!! my eyes are watering just thinking about it!!!!

Aww poor thing! I can't imagine being a new mommy and having to heal from a c-section. Luckily I only needed an episiotomy, which I thought was bad but I'm sure you have it much worse! I'm the same way, I love my baby so much, I can just stare at him all day lol. How long is it going to take you to heal? I am so sorry you are limited with him but you will be up and running soon I'm sure!

luvmy-buninoven - Sunday, 18 May
You had your baby! CONGRATULATIONS! How do you like being a mommy?

dedra40 - Sunday, 18 May
wow, its good to hear from you. I'm glad that the baby is doing good. you know, my husband does the same jerking thing as he falls asleep. I wonder if our little boy will have that issue as well. Again, glad to hear that you're doing well. Keep your feet elevated and drink bunches of water.
