Hello everyone. My name's Amanda and I am expecting my first child in June! It's been a bumpy ride but things are looking better everyday. My husband and I split up when I was about 2 months pregnant and that has been very hard. The baby has been doing great though and is very healthy, I could not ask for more as far as the baby goes! I never knew I was capable of loving someone so much until I found out I was pregnant. It really is the most amazing feeling in the world.

Thursday, 17 Jan

I went to the doctor yesterday and everything went well. The baby `s heartbeat was strong and loud, 140bpm. The doctor wants to wait until I `m 28 weeks to do another u/s. I `ve only had one so far in November and 10 weeks seems so far away.

Tuesday, 19 Feb

So my doctor finally gave in and I got to get an ultrasound this morning. They think everything looks good. I `m so thankful to have a healthy baby! I also found out I `m having a girl.

Thursday, 27 Mar

I went to the doctor today. Her heartbeat was 136 and everything looks good! She has been so active today, I don `t think she `s slept hardly at all. I `m so excited to meet my baby girl!

If you have a perfectly normal pregnancy, a lot of times you just get the one ultrasound, around 20 weeks. If you have bleeding or pain, they'll do one at any time. If you're not sure how far along you are, they'll do a scan, or if you have previa, then they'll do another scan at 28, and 32 weeks, or until it's gone. There are lots of 3D ultrasound places that you can pay and go anytime you want. I did that with 2 of my babies (because I didn't think the doctor was doing enough scans). So if you only have the 1 ultrasound scheduled, it's because you and your baby are healthy, and that's all the insurance will pay for. I hope you get to see your baby again soon. It's about the most exciting part of being pregnant. :-)

Hi mommyamanda, I just want to let you know that I am 18 wks pregnant and I have only had one u/s at this point. And that was only because we were unsure of my last cycle date. I am due for one this coming Tuesday which hopefully we will find out the sex of the baby. I thought it seemed odd as well that we were not doing more u/s. It seems like my visits are to quick and they don't seem to check anything except the heartbeat...don't get me wrong, I could listen to that all day, but sometimes I want some other proof that everything is ok. I guess we just have to hang in there and trust that they know what they are doing. My doc did tell me that if ever I was worried and wanted confirmation that my little one was ok to just call and they would let me come in for a couple of min. to hear the heartbeat, which I thought was nice of them. So, maybe inbetween doc visits you could ask your doc if you could do the same. Also, at 18 weeks we can hear the heartbeat on our on with a stephoscope...so maybe you could pick up on at your local scrub store to help relieve some anxiety. I hope I have helped. Good luck!

hah men i tell ya! theyre useless. theyre only here cus the parts fit. um ive actually had bronchitis for almost 8 weeks. it went away for about 2 weeks but came back worse. so im pretty drugged up. im kinda worried about the baby and all these meds im taking :/

Hi Amanda. Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. On workdays I barely have the energy to come home and cook before crawling into bed. But now I'm on winter vacation for two weeks yeah! I hope I feel the baby soon- would be a nice Christmas gift if it happened on Christmas Day.
I've been in Japan for just over ten years. It's easy to live here because its clean and safe and the money I made helped pay my student loans. I never expected to stay this long of course! And now I am married to a wonderful Japanese man- although we do hope to go and live in Canada in a couple of years. Japan tends to make a really good impression on anyone who visits, especially for the first time. The culture is interesting and the people polite. It's after living here for a number of years that it can get annoying cause you're always on the 'outside' and considered like a tourist or newcomer. The big drawback right now is that they don't give epidurals!!! So I have to have a natural childbirth which I'm a little nervous about. I'll get through it though and it will all be worth it.
By the way, I have never liked country music until now that I am pregnant (and can't stand listening to my favourite rock music anymore!) I'm going to buy that Reba McEntire CD with the song you have playing here on it. I just love it and the lyrics. Merry Christmas!

but what about the babys daddy? i was 5 lbs 1 oz and went down to 4 lbs 9 oz..and my bf was 6 lbs 5 oz..so i dunno those are small numbers, so i dont know whats going on. i mean ive felt full on kicks already. once last week and one today at the doctors office.

ya they do suck i guess there not even supposed to hurt just be uncomfortable but i swear they hurt so bad i just startd crying i got my mom so worried oops!
ugh mine and chris's relationship is good i just have major trust issues becuz he cheated on me with this absolute slut last year ive never gotten over it pregnancy hormones are crazy!!!! im sorry to hear about ur man im sure when he holds his baby for the first time everything will change =]
but apparently the baby is supposed to start reacting to noises outside the womb at about 20 wks idk for sure tho!!
