Monday, 21 July Hi, thanks for the info. I'm soooo hoping he'll start to nurse. Our life would be so much easier! Pumping stinks... I have tried 2 different sizes of shields. I can't get my nipple to the top of either one? I'm going to go try again while he is sleeping to see if I can get a better fit. Even with me holding onto it, my nipple sinks into my breast. It's so frustrating, but I want to get him nursing so I'm trying everything! embobower -
Monday, 21 July Hi! To post pics you need to upload to photobucket (or another hosting site) and copy /paste the HTML link in the comment box. I finally managed to post through trial and error. Thank god you can delete comments otherwise the page would be full of me posting gobbledegook! KristyC -
Wednesday, 16 July I gave Presley cereal with a spoon at 2.5 months and itr was too much for him to digest. He screemed for hours. I didn't try it again until he was almost 4 months old and he did fine then. All baby's are different though, good luck! Aarons Mommy -
Wednesday, 16 July I started cereal about about 6 weeks. I didn't put it in his bottle though. I gave it to him twice a day by spoon. He did really well with it. I ws still doing it the same way now but alittle more cereal now. My son started to spit out the gripe water so I put it in the little medicine bottles that you can get from Walmart and he loves it from there. Now that he is almost 4 months he doesn't get the gripe water that much maybe once a week if even. I think the just grow out of it, I didn't like seeing my baby in pain and that seem to help so much! Good Luck! luvmy-buninoven -
Wednesday, 16 July That is the amount.... thanks girl! kbpc3949 -
Wednesday, 16 July We did it pretty early. He has been on cereal for a month and he stopped needing it then...my SIL told us to try it about maybe at one month of age? It really worked so we used a drop in his bottle (not full dose, though you could) and it took the bubbles right out of the bottle. manda21 -
Wednesday, 16 July My docotr mentioned starting the cereal early, but he got better within a few weeks of being off the zantac so they decided to wait on the cereal. Now he is almost four months in a few weeks and he will be starting the cereal then because my doctor said they always introduce it to the four month olds. So he is on schedule with the cereal. luvbeingamom -
Wednesday, 16 July My doctor suggested when we were trying to figure out my sons allergies is to cut out everything. Then slowly add things back in. Maybe cut everything out, eat rice/pot, bland chicken etc for a few days. Just kinda clean out your system then slowly add things back in. Start by adding dairy, then other things. That way you can hopefully identify whatever is bothering your little ones tummy. As for Mylicon, My doc says it stays in the tummy and i can use it every 3 or 4 hours as needed. I use to give it to him just before he ate everytime and that helped too! But if you are cutting everything out, you shouldn't use it so that you can see what the probelm is. lisak -
Wednesday, 16 July Ty was about 7 weeks when we switched to axid. No alcohol in the axid! kbpc3949 -
Wednesday, 16 July Hey! We had luck adding a small drop of gas X into Cole's bottles at night (when overnight it was the worst). It really seemed to help. Once we started giving cereal, the spit up is nonexistent after cereal feeding. We stil get some spit up after faster moving nipples. Does that make sense? Also, it looks like you are just up 75 from me! karenc -

Wednesday, 16 July Hi, my son had acid reflux and I only used the baby zantac when nothing else would calm him down. I don't like to use miedication. Around 3.5 months it got much better and at 4 months when I gave him cereal it almost seemed to go away. He is still a spitter but it is considerably better. good luck! JenO -
Wednesday, 16 July My little guy has reflux and started on zantac but was switched to prevacid because zantac wasn't effective. He is over 5 months now and is eating solids...his spitting up has gotten a lot better but he has his moments! beautifulbebe -
Tuesday, 15 July Hi, I have a son who has terrible gas early in the morning. Basically when he needs to have a bm. I just deal with it because I don't want him to be on any more meds than he already is. I walk around with him, belly down on my arms, and I massage his belly. Sometimes I use special massage cream from Weleda. I am hoping that he will grow out of it. All the best with finding a solution. Aarons Mommy -
Tuesday, 15 July My son was also givien Zantac and it actually made him worst. I took him off after a week and started Gripe Water. It worked GREAT!!! He is now almost 4 months old and dosen't spit up at all. Cereal also worked great, he still gets it and I think that's maybe why he doesn't spit up. manda21 -
Tuesday, 15 July My son was prescibed zantac at 6 weeks ofr what appeared to be reflux according to the doctor. He has been spitting up large amounts since he was born. We gave him Zantac for a week and didnt notice any difference. I took him off Zantac, he struggled with spitting up for a few more weeks and than basically outgrew it. Now he is 3.5 months and he is doing great. He still spits up a lot, but no discomfort while eating and he is in the 75th percentile for weight and height so I am not worried about the spit up. We got through it without Zantac or any other meds. Some babies need the Zantac, but I didnt notice any changes so I didnt want to use it. lisareader -
Tuesday, 15 July Hi Monika - my baby is almost seven months, and he was on Zantac from about 2 months till 5.5 months. He is exclusively breastfed and cereal did not seem to help. I hate to admit it, but his reflux got much better - independent of the Zantac - when I cut chocolate out of my diet! It was rough, but I haven't had chocolate in about three months and his reflux is pretty much completely gone. I just sort of stopped eating it on a hunch. It took 2 or 3 weeks of not eating it before seeing results, but boy, he's like a new baby now! I also know people who've tried Prevacid and it worked much better than Zantac (I think it's stronger). Hope that helps! bellybumbles -
Tuesday, 15 July reese has reflux and i put just a pinch of cereal in the bottle (too much can constipate them when they're little), i also recently switched her to similac isomil soy (pink can) and she's been spitting up a lot less. I also heard similac sensitive is good. I would hold off on the zantac, if you try a new formula, give it a week to start working and you can try a really slow nipple w breastmilk and rice if you are just breastfeeding. Also, make sure to keep your baby calm and upright for at least 30 min after eating, and that should help too. lisak -
Tuesday, 15 July Hey! My son has really bad reflux. We were on zantac and he hated it. We swtiched to axid. It tastes better and works better. At 4 months reflux peaks and we had to add prevacid to the axid to get him to eat comfortably. Let me know if I can help. babyboysmama -
Tuesday, 15 July Monika, try gripe water, it's all natural and really helped my son with his gas/colic the first two months of his life. he is now on cereal as well (started at 11 weeks) he has it in his bottle of breast milk once a day, I've found it's good b/c he is on the larger side so it helps fill him...hope this helps. Tuesday, 15 July i give my son gaviscon for the acid reflux but it helps him burp too cuz everytime i give it to him he burps alot and big ones...as for the other end...I just push and pull his legs to let some of it out...thats all i got...lol...good luck luvbeingamom -
Tuesday, 15 July I am sure you have tried this but if you are bf and your LO is having so many issues have you tried cutting things out of your diet to help him. The most likely issue is dairy. If he is allergic to dairy then you can't even have anything with whey or cassinate in it. Also, spicy foods, certain veggies, beans and wheat/gluten can cause issues. I have never used anything but mylicon with my kids so i don't know about the others. phonics -
