My husband and I just found out we are expecting our first. This was our first month TTC and feel so blessed that it happened for us on the first try. I know a lot of women try for a long time and I was prepared not to get pregnant so quickly. I am a teacher so a March baby was perfect timing for us. I will be able to stay home for my maternity leave and then for the entire summer. I wanted to plan it this way, but we knew that the Lord sometimes has other plans for us. We are just so happy with the way it worked out.
We are thrilled with knowing that we are bringing a new life into the world, but also terrified at the same time. We have been married for 3 1/2 years and dated for over 5 years before we married. We know it will be awesome to have an addition to the family, but it has been just "us" for so long. It is a little frightening bringing a new life into our family, but, we are ready for the challenge and Lord knows our families have been waiting for this. We have not told any family or friends yet. We would like to wait until after our first doctor appointment. That will be on July 26. I will be six weeks and 4 days by then. If everything looks good we will tell the families.
We are just so thankful for all the blessings the Lord has provided us with and we pray for a healthy pregnancy for both mom and baby. Thanks for all of your support ladies! Good luck to all of you TTC and those who are now pregnant!
Update July 27, 2007
We went to our first Dr. appointment yesterday. I didn't really learn anything that I didn't know already. I was a little disappointed. We did schedule an ultrasound for Aug. 8. I will be eight weeks, so we will be able to see something by then. She did confirm March 16 for our due date. The nausea has been getting so much worse. I can't stand the smell of so many different foods. Yesterday, I couldn't even open the fridge without feeling like I was about to get sick. I just hope this gets better soon.
Update Oct. 5, 2007
I went to the dr. yesterday. It was a regular appt. so I was not expecting much. When the dr. came in to check up on me, she went to listen for the heartbeat and was having a real hard time finding it. She would start to hear it and then my h/b would overpower it. She could not find the baby's heartbeat and said it was strange. I, of course was a little worried, but didn't let it show. She said she wanted me to have an u/s just to make sure. I was not going to argue with that since I haven't seen the baby since 8 weeks. I just wanted to be sure everything was alright. Well the u/s lady found the baby and it was pretty much doing flips and moving all over the place. It was in about 5 different positions in the few minutes I was in there. It was no wonder the dr. couldn't find a heartbeat. The baby will not stay in one place for more than a few seconds. I was relieved and everything looked great. I saw the arms and legs, belly, spine, head, face. It was so amazing. I will go back in 4 weeks to find out the sex. I will be 20 weeks by then. I have never prayed so hard as I did the few minutes I had to wait for the u/s. I'm just glad everything was alright. The heartbeat was measuring 164bpm. My guess is still girl, but I don't know with all that action I saw going on. It is one active baby. I can't wait till I start to feel it.
Update 11/11/07
We had our big ultrasound last Wednesday. It was so amazing! We found out we are having a little GIRL! We are beyond thrilled. She is still very active in there. She would not stay still for more than 3 seconds. It was so fun to watch. She even waved to us a one point. My husband was so excited to share that experience with me.
The baby has been kicking me like crazy the past few days. I have felt her moving so much and that is such an awesome feeling. My husband was finally able to feel her kicking the other night. He and I were both so happy that he can finally feel her moving around. I've been feeling it for a few weeks, but he was wishing he could. I can't wait till we can actually see her moving.
