Hello Everyone! Congrats to all!

I have been following the messages since we found out, but just now signed up to be able to talk to all of you.

My Fiance and I are pregnant with our first child. We are due on January 7, 2008 and are both excited. Our next appointment is on 8/6 and the Dr. should be scheduling 2 weeks after for our "full anatomy ultrasound" --- YES! If the little one cooperates, we will find out boy or girl!

So far all of our tests and 2 ultrasounds have been showing a healthy baby. I don't know about anyone else, but I get so nervous the day and night before the Drs appointment, that I actually don't sleep all the way through the night. How silly!?

I think this website is fabulous and very helpful. I had been concerned about some things I was feeling - and not feeling - but after reading what other women have to say and feel aren't very much different that me.

Talk to everyone soon!

7/25/07 Had some bloodwork done and it came back the my sugar is high. Should be lower than 99 & I am at 114. Supposedly nothing to worry about (yet?!) but just something to watch. We go back to our OB on 8/6.

I want to rent one of those "dopplers" that everyone is talking about, so can someone email me a good place?

Yep - I am going to start writing in blue, maybe it will bring a little boy for us! I wouldn't mind having a girl, but would like a boy first. I don't think my fiance would be able to handle the dating period with a girl!!!!

We have names picked out for boy or girl already. David James or LeighAnn Marie.

Yes this is off the website, but I absolutely loved this picture.

8/7/07 Hello Again! GREAT NEWS!!! Sugar is NOT a problem. We go on 8/14 at 6 pm to find out what sex the baby is. I know I'll be like a little kid at Christmas waiting until then. That was the earliest we could get in. Let the countdown begin!!! Bad news: went for a dental filling today and ended up getting a root canal... still numb so maybe it wont hurt later.

I just finally got off my backside and ordered my fetal doppler. Supposed to be here tomorrow or Monday. I cant wait to get it. Since I cant feel the little one move all the time yet, I think this will help ease my mind to be able to hear the baby anytime my fiance or I want to.

5 long days till we can find out what the sex is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8/10/07 I just got the fetal doppler in the mail today and am dying to try it out, but will wait until I get home so David can hear it as well. My girlfriends at work want me to bring it back with me so they can hear as well. I am very happy and excited for this baby, but there are days (and yes - this is one of them) where I ask myself if I(we) can properly take care of the little one. I guess that just goes along with these pregnancy hormones.... I also guess to look on the bright side, that if I am feeling blue, just one more blue feeling to the blue team??!!!!

8/14/07 Well the big day is finally here. We find out tonight whether we have a boy or a girl! The past week took forever for today to arrive, now it will be the longest 9 hours till scan time! Either way, we just want a happy healthy baby! (still would love to have a boy, though!!!)

8-15/07

IT'S A BOY!!! IT'S A BOY!!! IT'S A BOY!!!

Well - we had our fetal anatomy exam last night, and very definately a BOY!

Welcome David James!

Mommy and Daddy are very happy and excited. Now we can start on the nursery and register. My girlfriend has been bugging me about doing this and now we can!!! Yessssss! Since Mommy and Daddy basically met over a 1967 Pontiac GTO - I had bought a mineature chrome piston keychain with the GTO emblem on the head of the piston. Now Daddy has to get a project car for him and little Dave to work on!

8/17/07 My little wiggler is going to town. He gets soooo happy about an hour after I eat. Just wish David could feel him kicking around in there. Its the neatest feeling.

8/21/07 I was taking a bath the other night and noticed by belly now sticks out of the water!!! I was really really relaxed and just staring into space felt Li'l Dave kicking up a storm, looked down at my belly and could see teny tiny little waves moving away from the spot where I felt him kicking!!! HOW NEAT WAS THAT!?!?!? Now if we could just feel him kicking on the outside. I would have thought if we can "see" the kicks, we should be able to feel them as well, but I was wrong. :o{

My mother and cousin both tell me enjoy the "soft kicks" while you can, but like someone saying "don't touch - wet paint" I still cant wait to feel the kicks on the outside...

8/23/07 I found this bedding and crib for the nursery, thought it was cute and want to share with David see if we agree!

8/27/07 Well, we were watching the Eagles game last night and I got to SEE the kick for the first time!!! Little David only did it 2 times so Daddy didn't get to see, but I was so excited! I can't wait to have Daddy see the kicks - how strong!

8/29/07 We went to the race track last night to watch Daddy run his car. I think little Dave likes the sounds of the track, because he was moving all over and kicking like crazy. Who knows? Maybe he was trying to shift already!

9/2/07 My nephew's 4th birthday party. Had a real good time. My nephew's are the best. The little one was born in March and is getting big too. Its amazing how fast they grow up. Seems like Dylan was just born, not Gavin!

9/5/07 I don't know what happened to my page, but everything disappeared from August 29 on. :o( Now I am looking at my calendar trying to recreate our page. Stinks really, because now it feels like this part until I get it caught up is "faking it" in a way. Oh well.

9/2-10/07 Our refridgerator died on us Memorial Day Weekend, and we had a heck of a time getting a new one. We went to Lowe's and while the people and delivery guys were excellent, the 3 fridge's they sent were broken (never got cold), dented (a little out of line) and then rediculiously out of line. The doors were so out of line that they didn't even take the last one off the truck. We eventually went back on Sunday and picked out a different brand, modle everything and got it delivered on Monday. This one works!!!

9/14/07 Went to Dr. Levine's office today for a checkup and everything is going wonderfully. I have only gained 10 pounds so far from the beginning and that's good! Little David's heartbeat is good and strong and moving around a lot now.

9/17-19/07 My little red Taurus decided it has had enough of being driven. It needed some front end work, then this went then that went. You know the rest of this story. I wanted it to hold out until I went back to work from maternity leave, but it was not to be. David and I are now on the look out for a new car (the funny thing is that was put on the photo site on the 26 or 27th and that didnt dissapear!!!!)

9/25/07 WE FOUND IT!!! Got the new car today. Its a pretty silver/grey 2006 Taurus (yep another one!) It is so nice and I can't wait to bring the baby home in it. At least its got the car seat base grabbers, this should help make it nice and tight safe fit!

9/27/07 My grandparents came down for dinner and haircuts last night. We love when they come down. I got my doppler out and had my grandmother and grandfather listen to Little David's heartbeat - Poppy got misty eyed! I don't think he has ever gotten to hear the baby's heartbeat - even from his own children, and we are now on great-grandchildren!!!

10/2/07 Goodness - the little guy is getting rammy in there! Moving and rolling and kicking like crazy! Its the best feeling in the world! I can't wait to go back to the doctor's on Monday to see how we're doing. I am concerned that I'm not gaining enough weight.

10/7/07 We went out to breakfast with our friends this morning and they came over afterwards. I got my trusty doppler out and let them hear Little David's heartbeat and they could hear him moving around too! It makes Daddy and me smile to hear him. He keeps kidding me that he's ready to come out! PLEASE - not yet! :o}

10/8/07 Went to see the doctor for our monthly checkup. I have gained a total of 12 pounds so far, and the doctor thinks thats just fine. My blood pressure is good - "see ya in 2 weeks!" OH OH! The 2 week appointments are starting now! We are getting closer! I have to make my glucose test appointment tomorrow morning.

10/9/07 I made my glucose tolerance testing appointment, I go on Friday morning. Will let you know how that goes.

10/13/07 I drank that aweful lemon lime sugar drink. I say aweful, but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. Waiting to see results from Doctor!

10/14/07 We went to our friend's daughters 10th birthday party. She was having a "bonfire sleepover". While the adults were getting the fire ready, the kids were preparing ghost stories to tell around the fire and marshmellows. They eventually scared themselves enough that they didn't want to come out to the fire! Ah - remember being a silly little girl!

10/15/07 Well, I failed my glucose test and have to go back for the 3 hour testing. The cutoff for my doctor was 139, and my sugar was 142. I didn't think this was too bad, but with the diabetes history on my mom and dad's sides, he didn't want to take a chance. Yeah! (not) more nasty sugar water!

10/17/07 I took my 3 hour test today and had really guilty feelings about not "feeding" my baby when he was ready. I posted stuff yesterday on the weekly page. Little David was moving and kicking around so hard at one point in the waiting room yesterday that the guy in there started laughing at my stomach at how much he was moving. Needless to say, I cried. I didn't really think it was funny, but to the guy's credit, he had no idea what was going on. I guess they usually hear from all of us pregnant moms how wonderful the movement is. Normally this is the case and I absolutely love it, but just not when you're feeling guilty as hell and wondering how you can take care of your baby after he is born, if you can't even feed him right when he's not here yet!

10/18/07 I will hopefully be able to find out the results of yesterday's test this afternoon and will let everyone know how it came out. That test was really draining. I guess because of the sugar high and crash. All I know is I will do whatever is necessary to not have to do that ever again!!!! Thank you to all the other mommies that gave me reassurance that I was not really starving my baby, he was just acting up because of the sugar increase/decrease!

10/18/07 I am putting up pictures of the crib, dresser and stroller / travel system that we are getting from family on the photo page. We (more accurately, my fiance) is finishing the bathroom this week and then starting on the NURSERY!!!!! Even though I am almost 7 months pregnant, I still can't believe that we are having a baby sometimes.

10/19/07 Got the results from the 3 hour test. Fasting was 80, 1 hour - 152, 2 hour - 127, and 3 hour - 93. This was a pass. Our goofy dr leaves the information on my voicemail, "Test results are in - you passed. You're not sweet!" and hung up.

10/20/07 We went out to dinner with our friends to Charlie Brown's. I got a huge prime rib, baked potato and creamed spinich. Yes I ate every bit of it too. Man it was really good.

10/22/07 Grandmom and Great Grandmom and I all went to go get the crib yesterday. Of course the 3 stores we went to did not actually have in stock after we called and they did. Grrrr. One store could only order in "honey oak", but not in cherry. Of course, my heart is set on cherry. SO - we were out all day pretty much but still didn't get what we set out for. That's OK though. I got to spend time with my mom and grandmom. :o}

10/23/07 Went to the doctors last night and everything is good again! This was the first of the 2 week appointments. He was really busy and backed up because he had a delivery earlier that day. I have now gained 14 pounds so far.

10/26/07 David and my dad did some final touches to the bathroom, and it looks absolutetly wonderful! Will put pics of that too! (someday I will actually get this stuff loaded, instead of just saying i will!!!)

10/27/07 Yesterday and today I ordered the bath mat, towels, shower curtain and soap dish and all that kind of stuff for our new bathroom. Can't wait for it to come in and we can put the finishing touches on it. We have a Halloween Party to go to tonight. I told my girlfriend that I was going as a "Pregnant Bit++", and that I was wearing my "I am one big freaking ray of sunshine" shirt and that was the extension of my costume. Party's at 6, so I'll have enough time to take a nap. Yea right. Stop at WaWa on my way home and run into my neighbor. Talk to him for about 20 minutes. Get home, leave phone in car. Go back out to get it and up pulls our other neighbor on a motorcycle. Guess who got a new toy!! I told him to watch out, cuz that's what happened to David and me. Dave got his new Harley in March, and April we got a new addition coming. That's ok because, he and his wife have been trying anyway. Got to go get ready for the party! Tired Cranky Grouchy, I should be a rolling ball of joy tonight.

10/28/07 Now I have to be honest, I wrote the 27th's entry AFTER finding this out, but wanted to keep everything as accurate as possible.

The Halloween party was not a Halloween party at all. Our friends pulled a fast one and my fiance was in on it!!! It was a suprise for me Baby Shower! And boy oh boy did they get me! I had absolutely no idea. I even drove right past my own mother's truck (which I have even driven on multiple occaisions) and didn't even realize it1!!!! Our friends are the best! We got a lot of stuff that I plan to take pictures of and put on the web site. Most exciting was that we got the Spa Bath Tub that I really really wanted for little Dave!

One of the gifts we received was a cermaic picture frame that says "Bear Naked" on the top of it. The funny thing and the reason Lisa and Jeff bought it for us is because, I call David "Bear". Now we can take a picture of little David nekid in the tube and use the frame!

Another cool gift from all of them together was the stages pack and play. Its got a bassinet part that comes out, then a middle bed that comes out when the baby gets bigger and then finally the regular bottom for when they can stand up on their own.

10/29/07 All of the stuff I ordered for the bathroom is en route to us now. Cant wait to get it and put it in the bathroom.....I took a bath last night and I am hearing "sit, missy. sit. stay, missy, stay. stay." Well, here comes our border collie / lab mix with one of the "its a boy" balloons tied around her neck! She looked cute, and of course, I thought it was an adorable move by big Dave. This I already took a picture of and pasted it to the photo book.

My mom and I went to Target yesterday to order the crib and dresser/changer. We wanted to pay for it and then David could go and pick it up this week with his truck. NOPE! Can't do that, they won't hold hit even if you pay for it ahead of time. SOOOO - my mom and david are supposed to meet up at Target and get the stuff. All wasn't wasted though, I got the cutest Eagles sweatsuit and onsie for him. Even though the season will be over by the time he's born, got to start him out early!!!!! Get him in training for next year!

Well got to go back to work now! See you later!

11/1/07 OK so I finally updated with the photos from the suprise shower! Take a peak!

11/1/07 I added a photo of our nephews, Dylan and Gavin, with their Halloween costumes on! They are adorable! I can't wait until next year and be able to dress up Baby Dave!

11/2/07 David and our friend were going to Englishtown Raceway for Friday night races, but they are street only cars, so - will go up Saturday for the Ford Weekend races.

11/3/07 We all drove up to Englishtown for the race this morning and guess what!!! They canceled because of the rain. Well at this point - it wasn't raining at all, so we turned around and drove all the way back home to our home track, Atco Raceway. They were going to have races, then the wind kicked up so bad that they only let the jr. dragsters run and not the "adult" race cars. SO - we just watch - or more accurately - David and BJ watched drag racing on the tv while I took a nice 2 1/2 hour nap!

11/4/07 We got up very early and drove back to Englishtown for the day. Went well - we had a great day there. David raced the car and ran very good! This went great for Little Dave's "first big race event" - even if Mommy did way too much walking! My feet, ankles, hips and lower back were very sore, but my belly was absolutely killing me. Guess I know what I can and can't do now as far as walking all day long!!!! Good thing I took off on Monday to recuperate! I needed it.

We have another race weekend coming up on the 18th for the Buick Ford Shootout at Atco. This was lots of fun last year and I am sure it will be again this year.

11/5/07 Went back to the Dr's for our regular appt. Baby David's heartbeat was nice and strong as it is usually! I gained 7 pounds since our last appt. but Dr. Levine said thats ok and not to worry. I was just nervous about gaining so much so quickly. Now up to 21 pounds so far. My blood pressure was a little higher than my normal 120/80. It was like 133/86 or there abouts anyway.

Little David is very active and moves around alot! This is cool... 3/4 of the way done! Can't wait until he gets here.

11/20/07 OK for some reason, I can't type in the same blue color as I was before. Whatever. We had our doctors appt on Monday and I gained another 2 pounds, so now I'm up to 23/24 pounds total weight gain. Not to bad, I think. We are going for a growth ultrasound on the 29th - I cant wait to see my little man again! I cannot wait to see the pictures, and more importantly, see him in person!

I have been sleeping like crap and have been getting very cranky. I can't seem to stay comfortable for more than about two hours, then awake with terrible indigestion/heartburn for at least 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.

I keep waking my fiance up every time I try and change positions and flip from one end of the bed to the other or get up from the bed to go pee and try out the couch for a while. The great thing about that is that we got new furniture several months back, and we also bought a matching ottoman. When the indigestion hits hard, its great to prop up on the couch and put my feet up in front of me and then I am out cold for another couple hours.

My hip has been absolutly painful for the past month or so - sometimes I feel like I might cry because of it. My hands fingers and thumbs are almost continuously numb about now. I am not too concerned about that because I had carpal tunnel syndrome before getting pregnant, and have read several places that this is common during late pregnancy, which is where we are now at almost 34 weeks. YIKES - that means only 6 short weeks to go!!!

Well, its almost 10:30 here and I am pretty tired, so I'll try and sleep for a few hours.

11/21/07 Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I am making homemade sweet potato pies with and without pecans. My dad called to see if he had heard right that I was really going to make them. I haven't made them in a long while, and aparently they were pretty good when I did.

Does wanting to bake everything in sight in the recipe book count as nesting? I can't stand when the house is messy and want to cook everything. I am usually quite happy to order out our dinners!

The baby has been very active and likes to not be squished, as in do not lean forward while typing on the computer. I have to lean back so he has room. If I don't, he stretches his little body as stiff as can be to let me know! Guess he will be a determined little fellow!

OK - It's pretty late again, and I am going to attempt to get some sleep and not wake Big Daddy David up 15 times tonight. The only good thing is that he is getting used to being woken up often throughout the night! (unfortunately - so am I!)

Oh well only a couple of weeks left. I do have a feeling that although I have been complaining alot lately, I will miss feeling him move around inside there!

Have a hapy and safe Thanksgiving!

11/27/07 Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I know we did. I ate so much, I thought I was going to split my pants.

I stayed home from work today because I am very hoarse and congested in my chest. I have a doctors appointment for the family doctor at 9:45 this morning, and I also have a call into my ob because my hands and feet are soooo super swollen. He is in delivery right now and I am waiting for him to call back.

On Saturday, 11/24/07, we had our family baby shower. My mom called me at work and said your great aunt and cousin are coming over for family visit tonight, can you come by? your aunt really wants to see you.

Hello - all family get-togethers are on Sunday, not saturday - Hmmmmm somethings up. We get there and, yep, baby shower. I cannot believe how many people were there for us to celebrate with. I was very overwhelmed, as was my fiance, David.

I am going to take pics of all the neat stuff we got and put it on the photos page. It took our pickup (filled the quad cab and bed), our friends excursion and there is still stuff in my mom's truck and house that we did not grab to bring home. :o} I am not complaining, just have no idea where it will all fit. We only have a small 3 bedroom rancher!

11/27/07 About the hands and feet - well, I am still waiting to hear from Dr. Levine. I wasn't too concerned because of reading all the posts from the girls in Week 34 (our week) and hearing them speak of the same issues, UNTIL I spoke to my cousin and she put the little preeclampsia bug in my ear. NOW I am nervous, and anxiously waiting for the Dr to call back.

I guess this is what it will be like for David - playing the waiting game for us to deliver little David. Delivery's take a long time as I am sure I will find out for my self in a few very short weeks.

11/27/07 I am back again. I took pics of all the stuff we got for the family shower and am posting them to the photo page. I don't seem to have the energy that I did one month ago at the shower our friends hosted for us - as you can tell by the pics. I tried to fit EVERYTHING on the couch and the pics aren't as detailed as the first set were.

David is also working on the nursery so we can get that done, I am putting up some now pics. The room is all primered and the carpets are all ripped out. I will take more as he gets more done.

11/28/07

11/29/07 I went back to Dr. Levine again because the swelling has not gone down at all. Good news - no protein in the urine, bad new - blood pressure still high. Have to monitor it to make sure its not preeclampsia.

12/3/07 At Dr. Levine's again.... This time get the blood pressure checked and its 148/97 - not good. The nurse has me lay down on my left side and take slow deep breaths for 10-15 minutes, then comes in to check it again. Fortunately it went down quite a bit to 132/86. She said that one is ok. I asked if having to pee really bad, not being able to breath and having to do calesthetics to get on the table have anything to do with the blood pressure being so high. Answer is no. BUT here is a funny thing - I have had this headcold for about three weeks now, and when it first came on, I asked the OB if I should go to him or to my family doctor. He said Family doctor. Family Doctor told me to take Sudafed PE WELLLLLL - long story short, my blood pressure has been high for 3 weeks and I have had this head cold for 3 weeks. Turns out that the blood pressure could very well be due to the sudafed. Who knew? I finally got an antibiotic and was able to get it filled that night. We will see what my pressure is on the tenth - thats my next appointment.

Aside from all that - I cannot wait to meet my baby!!!!

12/7/07 My boss decides to take me to lunch today because of my leaving for maternity leave next Friday and for Christmas since I won't be there. Not unusual for him to do so as he did same last year. We get back to the office and one of the girls comes around the corner saying - I really need you help - can you come around here to help me? I walk around the corner and there is all these people there from my work and some of our customers for a suprise shower for me!!! I was so suprised - I had no idea! My fiance David AND my Mom knew about it and did not spill the beans! WOW! I was so suprised.I figured that the group would have done a little something, but there were sooooo many people there, I almost cried! I never expected it in the least! Thank you to Juliet and Debbie (my co-workers) for putting all that in place to make it happen and make me feel so special!

12/10/07 I had my normal weekly docters appt tonight, but my pressure was up so high that he admitted me to the hospital for monitoring and 24 hour urine test for protein. I am a little scared and very nervous. Will update.

12/11/07 My pressure has not gone down at all, in fact, it has continued to go up. Monday night it was 150/88, and the highest so far today was 177/87. Nothing yet on the protein urine test as that wont be done until 11pm tonight, and they already told me that I wont be going home today. I am just really worried about my son. The doctors and nurses said that my pressure has not had any effect on the baby, but I still worry. Good news is that when they have the monitors on him for his heartbeat and contractions, his heartbeat is great and I am having some contractions!!!

12/12/07 My pressure went down to 148/76 which was good enough for me to go home and my proteins were a little high, the cutoff is 150 and mine was 195. Home for bedrest and go back to the doctors on Friday, 12/14 @ 12noon.

12/14/07 Got back from the doctors, my blood pressure was high again, but he let me go home for bedrest instead of the hospital. My pressure was 166/84, not dialated at all, but still having contractions.

12/18/07 Back to the hosp on Sunday for non stress test for me and the baby. Again Baby David was beautiful, no problems, then go back to drs on Tuesday (this week) and was sent back to the hosp yesterday afternoon for more of the same testing (no 24 hour urine though so I could go home!!!) Now I go back on Friday to Drs office and we pick a day for my induction! I am really scared about that. I wasnt before until we started having the bp problems, now i am really scared and worried.

The really good news is that while all this is going on, my fiance David, has been right there with me and has been so supportive and strong for me when I know he is nervous as well. I love him and this baby so much, sometimes it amazes me. The other good news is that I am having regular contractions every 2-3 minutes however they are not strong enough to make Baby David come on his own! (not yet anyway!)

12/21/07 Back to Dr. Levines office again today for blood pressure test and fetal nst testing. Blood pressure's high again, but doc is letting me go home for bed rest and go back to his office for another checkup on Christmas Eve. Depending on that appointment, we could have a Christmas baby!!!

12/24/07 Merry Christmas Everyone! Good news is that blood pressure is down a little and we are being admitted to the hospital on Wednesday night, 12/26. SOOOOO - This means that baby David will be born on my birthday if all goes well! So cool! I cannot wait to meet my son. I told my Fiance, David, that this is the absolute best Christmas Birthday present he could have ever given me!

12/25/07 - Well even with all the hoping against hope that we did not end up with a Christmas birthday for David, I was disappointed that he wasn't here with us for Christmas.

Daddy put the crib together and we are waiting for the changing table / dresser combo unit to be shipped home. I teared up when the bedding and everything was in place. I cannot wait to see our son!

12/26/07 I am scheduled to go into the hospital tonight to begin the induction. I am a little scared because of the blood pressure issues that I have been having. Dr Levine seems to think that its time for baby David to come. Daddy and I are so excited and nervous, life will never be the same again. It will be different.

12/27/07 Today is my birthday and I am in the hospital with the second medication to try to kick start this birthing process. The first one didn't do anything. If this one does not work, they may opt to do a C-section. Well we will wait and see!

12/28/07 HORRAY! BABY DAVID ARRIVED HEALTHY HAPPY AND ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AT 8:38PM LAST NIGHT! Yep - he definately looks like his daddy! We did have him delivered by C-Section after 2 failed induction medications. That was the scariest thing I have ever gone through. I am sure it was scary for Daddy also. I was araid that if something happened, what would happen to the baby, would he be ok, how would David cope without me to help him raise the baby.

The needle in the back was the first scary part, then they hooked me to the blood pressure machine (which I guess is normal) but taking in consideration how high my pressure was and that the dr was worried about me having a stroke or seizure on the table, that really got me nervous. Then add in the fact that David couldn't be there from the very beginning. He was alowed in after they got me anestitized and fully draped.

Daddy Dave did wonderfully. He held my hand and talked to me and kept me calm (as much as I could be, anyway) as possible. I could see that he was as scared as I was, but he kept a brave front!!!

Before long, Dr. Levine said, "Got your camera ready? He's coming out!" And Daddy got the most awesome picture. As bright as the lighting was in that hospital room, the pic looks like its in a dark room with a bright single light shining down on our son!

After they got him wrapped up, they gave him to David to hold while I was being sewn up. That way Daddy got to hold him and I could see him for the first time. Funny - Daddy never held a newborn before, I was always the one holding all everyone else's babies all the time, and here Daddy got to hold him within minutes of his birth, and I didn't get to hold him until several hours later! He and daddy looked so handsome together, I cried with happiness.

I don't think I have ever cried so much as I did while in the hospital. They didn't let the baby stay with me the first night, he went back to the nursery for monitoring.

12/29/07 WOW! I thought getting the surgery was scary - that was a cake walk compared to having the baby stay with me in the room overnight! Now that was scarey! I was afraid to fall asleep because I was afraid that if he started to spit up or choke or stop breathing I would not hear him in time. I was afraid to go to the bathroom.

Then we are trying to breastfeed because from everything we have read, its the best thing for the Baby. This was another huge scary thing for me again! I was crying again yesterday and last night. (big suprise there - and yet the worst was yet to come!)

I was told my nipples were flat and that's why David couldn't latch on properly. With some help of the expert people there in the hospital's lactation department, I was soon feeding the baby like a pro - until the nurse came to take him back for his pediatrician to check him out and get ready for Dr Levine to do his circumsision. Thats when she said to me, see how he keeps putting his hand in his mouth, he's not eating enough, he is still hungry.

GREAT! I am not only starving my baby because I didn't know he wasn't getting enough to eat, but now I am sending him for his circumcision on an empty stomach! (more tears) - thoughts of I cant even take care of him enough while in the hospital - how the hell am I going to take care of him at home???

Then they bring him back to me after the surgery and basically say - feed him, comfort him and call us when he has to be changed. We will show you how to take care of and clean his penis.

Feeding went well, then comes the diaper change. The nurse comes in and removes his diaper, then goes to take the gauze pack off, and its stuck to my baby's very sore, very red and very tiny little penis! She gets warm water and runs it over the head while pulling on the gauze. My son screamed in agony. It was the absolute worst thing I have ever gone through. Knowing I made the decision for the circumsision to be completed and how much pain my child was going through. More bad mommy thoughts and doubts.

12/30/07 Well we are getting better with this breastfeeding thing! Baby David is eating well and looking great. They are doing his first picture today, in an outfit that probably wont fit him for another month! He's soo tiny that even the newborn clothes are too big right now.

Daddy came up to the hospital again today and Daddy and Baby David watched their first Eagles game together.

We were suposed to go home today, however the staff thought it best if we stay one more day. Bummer!

12/31/07 Happy New Year's Eve! We are going home today!!!! Daddy is on his way up to get us - and I am so excited and Yep you guessed it, SCARED!

I should also say that during the entire stay, that we have had many family and visitors stop by and hang out! Grandmom and Grandpop, Aunt Shelly and Uncle Chris, Great Grandmom and Grandpop, Great Aunt Linda, Cousins Tiffany, Lisa, Ron, Jason, Jen, Alexandria and friends Gina, Paul, JT, Lauren.

Most importantly, Daddy has been running his butt off between the hospital and home taking care of the dogs and the house and all that jazz, while spending almost all day and most of the night in the hospital with us! Geeze, I thought I was tired!

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Thank you so much for you input on my poll!! I think I am going to do both bottle and breastfeeding. I do not want to use formula, so I'm sure I'll have to pump a couple times a day so that my husband can share in the feeding experience as well. Thank you again!!

If it helps, I cried on and off for weeks when I went back to work. I think my husband thought I was going a little crazy. But it's been pretty good and we are all adjusting. It is a sign of a good mom to care and feel sad about it. We were lucky to find a good daycare center, and we just love the head teacher. I still miss her often and sometimes daydream about how to work it out another way. Keep us posted and feel free to rant any time! By the way, your son is gorgeous!

I think it is completely normal to want to be home with your baby boy and have strong emotions about missing him. I have stayed home with bothmy children, not easy financially with the most recent addition, but I do miss work. Like everything..it is new and I am sure you will adjust in time. Good luck

I don't want to say dont worry....we are mothers and we will always worry....as for the daycare situation....I am a bit uneasy with leaving my baby with daycare...I will have to really do my research and ask others about it.....just pray and think positive that your littleone will be well taken care of.

hey myfirstone, I know your grandparents must have been emotional, it is such a wonderful experience. I just got home and wanted to listen to my littleman and my dog was with me. When he heard the heartbeat he tilted his head and was watching. I usually put his ear to my stomach so I guess he is hearing what he usually hears....anyway I am glad everything is going well, I'll talk to you soon

Hey myfirstone, I have not been able to hear any crying, everytime we listen to him, he is kicking and moving around....I did a sonogram on Monday to see how he is growing (because of the Diabetes) and the tech said 'Oh my God he is such an active baby' he was not staying still, I can just imagine when he comes out he is going to have us up around the clock.....I love that though because I know he is there and he is doing well.....I hope all is well with you and baby, talk to you soon.

I am happy to hear that your pregnancy is going so smoothly! I have pretty much been given due dates for the whole first week of December. at different times I was told Dec 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th. I figured I'd just stick with the 5th for simplicity purposes!
