Ava Frances

1/28/08

9 lbs 11.4 oz

20.75 inches long

Well.....here I am...took a HPT 6/16/07, it was positive....took a second HPT 6/17/07, it was positive as well. My doc got me in for an appt. 6/18/07 (due to pretty severe cramping....I think it was stress). Doc did an u/s, confirming that I am pregnant. Have another appt. for u/s 6/25/07, doc said he wants to make sure I am progressing. Nervous is an understatement. So far I have not had any m/s.....however my breasts are extremely painful! Trade off for not having m/s I guess. Ha! Kinda wondering about the due date my doc gave me. According to my last period, and all of the PG calculators, my due date is 2/9/08, but doc gave me 2/11/08....just curious about the difference. 2 days, big whoop.....just wondering is all.

6/25/07

Had my 2nd appt. today with u/s....we have a heartbeat!!!!!!! BUT...yeah too good to be true without "something" not positive how far along I am at this point....my D/D has been changed to "Mid-February" LOL....I am trying to keep a good attitude, and I just absolutely adore my doc and have been with him for 11 years or so...anyway, I have another appt. for another u/s in 2 weeks, doc said there will be more to measure then that will give a much better determination of a due date. He said right now his best guess from the u/s is that I am 6 weeks. He explained that traditionally date of the last period generally gives a good idea and that would be perfect except for the fact that not all women ovulate precisely 2 weeks after the first day of the last period. So I may have ovulated even a week or so later...Taaa-daaaaa!!!!

Please meet our tiny little one, lovingly nicknamed "Scooter Bug"

July 9, 2007

Had my OB appt today.....here is a pic of the u/s....I had to crop out some of my personal info....

My baby has gotten considerably bigger in the past two weeks.....yes it is expected, I was just all silly excited about it. Fear sometimes gets the better of me...so I am very happy to see the progress. Doc measured my baby and from the measurements gave me back my Feb 11th, 2008 due date. So today I am 9w2d. I had a lot of blood drawn today, and tinkleinacup test. Breasts are still very sore. My next appointment is August 6th. My clothes are beginning to fit a bit snugger. After seeing my baby again and getting another pic, few things could ruin this day.

7/25/07

I spent about 6-7 hours in the ER yesterday. Completely miserable to say the least. Monday night I started having diarrhea about 8pm, then started vomiting about midnight. All night long I was severely sick. So I called my Doc in the morning and he advised me to go to the ER to be checked out and get some IV fluids. At the ER I was given 3 bags of fluids (which I later find out is actually a lot meaning I was pretty well dehydrated...or wilted as I put it) I was given some fen. (for nausea and vomiting). They could not give me anything for the diarrhea because of the vomiting and there is not much that can be given so early in pregnancy that is truly safe. By the time I was discharged the Doc still was not sure if I had food poisoning or stomach flu. Today the nausea and vomiting has passed, however the diarrhea is still hanging around. My Doc suggested that I try to tough it out and not take anything for the diarrhea because either way (food poisoning or stomach flu) it really just needs to run its course. He assured me my baby is fine, which is most important to me. I have been on clear liquids for 2 days now, and just tonight decided to try a little rice (plain and bland). I am feeling extrememly timid about eating anything at all. I never ever want to be that sick again. Hopefully the rice will help the diarrhea to ease off some. Food in general does not sound good at all. The ER did not do an us to check my baby, I wish they had, it would have put my mind more at ease.

8/6/07

Had a Drs appt. I was so worked up because I had been so sick for two weeks...worried if that baby was okay. I lost 5 pounds. My blood pressure was good though. Then.......then I heard the heartbeat......oh my gosh, words cannot even describe. I was such an emotional trainwreck I forgot to ask what the baby's heart rate was. I am very excited to find out if I am having a boy or a girl. I already have a wonderful son, he is 12. At first I wanted a girl....but I have been doing alot of thinking and even though it really does not matter if it is a boy or a girl, I will love whichever it is and be thrilled and thankful for just being able to have another child.....BUT, after thinking about it, I kinda want another boy. Although I drool over pink frilly lacey cutesy girly girl stuff.....it occured to me...In my opinion boys are so easy. My sister has 3 girls, my sister in law has 3 girls....my son has been a piece of cake compared to all that girl drama...LOL. Anyway, I am thankful that I am feeling better and I am able to eat, and eat more than broth and rice. I am looking forward to the 31st, for my detailed U/S...hopefully then I will have some idea if I am carrying a baby boy or baby girl and do some serious shopping!!!

9/3/07

I had a Dr. appt 8/31/07....what I thought was going to be a 3/d 4/d U/S turned out to be a 2d U/S. The reason I was told is that the 4d U/S are really for nothing more than fun, to see or get an idea of what the baby will look like and only shows whats going on on the outside of the baby, while the 2d U/S show whats going on on the inside which is what is most important at this stage of pregnancy. The appt. went well....I was given the option of having the Triple Screen (bloodtest) done, and I finally gave in, I decided I am going to try not to dwell too much on whatever the results are. If an amnio is more reccomended after the Triple Screen results come back then I will have it done. The fun part was seeing the ultrasound (which was not rushed by any stretch of the imagination). Seeing the baby jump and move was amazing and offered me so much relief. At one point the baby was moving its hand back and forth to its head and really looked like it was waving.....too cute!!!! The baby's HB was 142. The tech wasnt able to see the baby's sex very well, she said that she had a good guess but wasnt sure so it would be wise that I not go baby shopping just yet. I have an appt with my regular OB doc tomorrow 9/4/07. Try to get an update then and the new U/S pics soon.

ah, ok. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a combo of teething & growth spurt. these babies go thru a lot!!!

jesslf - Monday, 12 May
HI, Tanner has been sleeping alot too lately and he was sort of fussy a few days ago. But yeah he would wake just to eat. How's Ava doing? Is she still pooping alot?

karenc - Monday, 12 May
hey there - earlier this week, beckett was sleeping almost all day. he'd wake up to eat and then bam, down for more sleep. I was worried, but since he woke up to eat, figured maybe it was growth spurt behavior. now at the end of the week he's hardly sleeping during the day -- we're talking maybe 90 mins of napping tops. kooky babies :) is your daughter still waking up to be fed?

Hey there .. its nearly winter here .. but we don't have winters like parts of the U.S where it snows but it can get pretty cold here at times. I love the bare bottom picture :o) I thought it was sooo cute. She was having tummy time while getting dressed & i couldn't resist :) Why is it that babies 'bumps & dimples' in their butts are just so cute, but on us, its just not so cute - LOL! Babies are allowed to get away with all kinds of stuff hey :o) Let me know when you put some new pics up of Ava. I bet she's changed heaps :o) Willow has lost ALOT of her hair now :o)

Yeah I was thinking about how to make a simple belt- then I remember the d-ring belts and thought that would be the easiest to make. Plus they get to be all stylish.
Izzy also has hightop white shoes (for learning to stand in) they were all white with white laces. I added ribbon for the laces and just taped the ends so they can't unravel. made the shoes all stylish and girlie.

shortncrazy2 - Thursday, 8 May

I bought a cloth ribbon that was 5/8" x 9' spool (thought I could make a few belts and maybe some stuff to match them). And little d rings for making belts. (total cost for it all was like $5 or something cheap like that)
I measured around her waist and then added like 4 inches (some growing room so she can use the belt for a good while). I decided to hand sew then belt since how little the material is. I folded one end over twice about 1/4" and sewed the shut (so that the material wouldn't try to unravel. the other end I fold once and about 1/4" and sewed it (for the same reason) then I slid the d rings on there and folded the material over the flat side for the d-ring and I sewed the material there. And you are done! Took me a few minute to do two of them by hand. I was sitting next to izzy while I was sewing them and she was all excited because of the colors moving around while I was sewing.
I had found a ribbon that was striped with different colors pink, green, purple, yellow and ect so that she could use the same belt with everything she wears.

Hee Hee! That is just to cute :o)

Riley has that same stuffed toy! We just introduced it to him this weekend and he tried to get it in his mouth, just couldn't keep it there! lol!

I so agree with you on the baby clothes. My Izzy has such long legs. I have to get bigger pants for her and safety pin them smaller in the waist. She has alot of jeans so I make little baby belts yesterday for her to wear. they were very easy to make I can show you them and tell you how I did it if you want me to.

*jody3199** - Saturday, 3 May
Hey there :o) I kind of said it to get up her nose :o) LOL!
But its true, her stories do change. She said her bub was rolling etc ... And holding her head & shoulders up off the floor well i am sorry but it looks like her baby can't even sit straight ;o( Willow is progressing at her stage ... she can sit with her body straight & her head off the ground (at tummy time) but her chest is not off the ground & i am not gonna tell people a bunch of lies then forget what i have told people weeks earlier. She really shits me. She was on about not boiling her baby's water for bottles & degraded me because i have boiled my babies water. Each to their own. The girl shits me & i just wish she'd stop lying & pretending she knows everything. The sad part is i have learnt what i know from being a mum, she's learnt all she knows from her ped or doctor etc ... I think a mothers instinct is worth ALOT more than what a ped or doctor has to say. My vent is finished too :o) LOL!

*jody3199** - Sunday, 27 April
Willow sleeps up to 8 hours every night too :o) She has done from about 3 weeks of age. Will you have anymore babies? I had my tubes tied during my c section with Willow :o) Nope, i don't time Willows feeds. She just pops herself off once she's done. As long as she feeds for more than 20 minutes i am happy. May i ask if you've had AF since ava has been born? Willow is 12 weeks old this week & i have not had AF yet. I know its normal because of the breastfeeding. You mentioned you breastfed your son until he was 18 months. Did he ever bite you? I am so worried about Willow getting teeth :o( I dont want her to bit me. It hurts enough when hubby does it (& thats softly) LOL! Willow feeds up to an hour most feeds.

*jody3199** - Saturday, 26 April
I was thinking that myself earlier .. think i get so caught up in posting personal messages to people i totally forget about the main board ... How are you guys going? Willow had her shot afew days ago, the poor darlin screamed & turned bright red :o( Had never seen her cry like that. Needless to say a (.)(.) soon soothed her :o) Poor little darlin! Are you nursing? This is the longest i have nursed EVER & i am so happy :o)

Thanks!! Your little Ava is beautiful! I love that name as well and would have picked it for a girl except I have a cousin who has an Ava!

I don't want Brodi to be a thumb sucker either! haha, she has been doing that ALOT lately and I move her hand so she'll stop. But minutes later, it's back in her mouth! She's doing the cutest things these days, I love it!

Thank you for the info. I was actually thinking of calling my lactation consultant as well. I'm worried that since she is eating so frequently, that it might be due to her not being able to get enough milk at one time. Who knows. But it probably wouldn't hurt to try one of the herbal suppliments they offer to boost milk supply.

She is finally here!!!!!

Brianna Eva, May Beaton was born on Feb,08,08 @ 5:03pm.

I was induced @ 10am on Feb,07. The first induction did not fully take however the O.B. said he could break my water @ 7am the next morning, He gave me another induction @ 9pm to maintain my progress for the night.
I had my water broke @ 6am and was put on a drip to regulate contractions. By 9am I was 3cm and got the epidural (the best thing in the world).
Laid back and relaxed and slept until shortly after 4pm when I was ready to push. After my first couple of pushes the nurses and the O.B. said I was an excellent pusher and could have her out in no time. 45min later I was still pushing and everyone was surprised she wasn't out yet with all that great pushing.
Finally the O.B. decided enough was enough and we all agreed to use the vacuum to help her out. I was beginning to think I wasn't as good of a pusher as they thought until she was finally out and soon after I heard them read out her weight.
Everyone including the O.B. but most of all me were shocked to hear that Brianna was 9lbs 8oz!!!!!
Thats right 9 and a half pounds and long almost 2feet.

I just had to share the details with you and to let you know as hard as it was I made it through and everyone was right when they say you forget the pain when you have your baby in your arms.
I can't believe she is finally here and its time to be a mommy.
We got home yesterday because, well after that I needed some extra time in the hospital because of her size, but that aside we are all doing excellent and I couldn't be happier to be home and on the mend.
I will post some pictures soon as I get a chance. A huge message, I know but I wanted to tell you everything(without the icky details of course).

Have to go for now, almost time to feed Brianna again. I hope you are well and I will be back on soon to show off our adorable big girl. Lots of hugs Rebecca
Please let me know how you are doing, I would like to know.
