Hello All!!!

9/28/08 Update:So my bf and I finally told our families about 3 weeks ago, his mom was in a serious car accident and we couldn't imagine her "leaving us" and never knowing!! So we told everyone and they handled a lot better than we thought they would. They were mostly surprised that we waited this long to say something but I felt so much better and now everyone is scrambling to buy things and plan a shower :-) I'm so happy b/c I can finally really enjoy this pregnancy!

I turn 19 in December, which is very close to my DD! Eventhough I am young and this pregnancy was very very unexpected LOL! I am although trying to embrace it and be very happy about it! My boyfriend is very calm about it as to not stress me out! HA! But he is excited as well. I know my parents and his will be a bit disappointed. But he's 21 and we're both adults. I'm still going to be in college and pursuing my major, so I am very excited!

How`s my pregnancy doing?

Hi NJfran, I have not put on any weight either and I spoke to my Dr about it last week, she said you shouldn't be putting on any weight until 4.5 months, she said the baby will take ALL the nutrients it wants and leave you with none, so don't worry. She also said she had 3 babies herself and she said take it from her, its perfect not to put on any weight in the first half because thats the weight which will be really hard to get rid of after the baby is born. I hope this puts your mind at ease.

Hi! Njfran
I also have that tightening feeling around my belly. I always think that it's my uterus stretching causing my skin to feel tight (i don't know for sure but that's what I think) I am carrying twins for the second time and I had the same feeling with my daughters. It just feels tight and stuffy right?

Hey! Im from week 19 but i saw you post in week 14 about college and taking some time off and i thought i could give you some advice! I found out i was pregnant at the end of March (in the middle of spring semester). I finished out spring semester but i decided to take the summer and fall off. I tend to be a "worry wart" and i KNEW that i could not go to school while being pregnant.. i just didnt think it would work out well for me.... I was considering taking a light load of classes this fall but my due date is in november which would cut be off right in the middle of fall semester... anyways, i am planning on going back for spring semester '09 (which begins in january where im from) But i might decided to wait until summer '09 so that my baby will be a few months older.. spring or summer is still debateable for me lol...... anyways, some ladies go to school the full term of their pregnancy... its all just up to you and what you think will be best for you! I hope this was helpful and if you ever need to talk im here for ya! It kinda sounds like we are in the same boat!

Before I had my first I decided to stop going so I could rest and whatever. Come to find out would've been much easier then than it was once he was born, lol. It's your decision of course. Maybe you could get only online courses or just go half-time. I'll be a full-time student this fall especially since I graduate December 13th!! Good luck to you.

I'm in school too. What I'm doing this semester because my due date is too close to the end of the semester, and probably in the Spring too, is online classes. You can take them from home, a d a lot of them are working at your own pace. Even if you only do one class, it's better than not doing anything at all. It's just hard to get back into the swing of things after you stop completely.

I would take the fall semester off. Your going to be very tired and having to deal with a lot with a baby coming soon. Plus, you really never know when your going to give birth and it would be aweful for you to miss your final because you were giving birth. Im taking next semester off. I really want to enjoy this pregnancy. Plus you never know whats going to happen so I dont want to make any comitments at a time where things are very unsure. Good Luck! Enjoy a semester off and cherish your new bundle of joy your going to bring into the world!

I think that as long as you feel you can handle it, you should stay in school. Or at least go part time. Trust me, if you're determined to get your degree, nothing will stand in your way no matter how many semesters you take off. It took me 7 years to finally graduate. That was because my Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer then passed away, I was 19 and had to raise my 11 y/o brother, then I finally went back and Katrina hit...time off again...but I finally graduated December of 2007! You can do it, but a lot of people will tell you that once you take off, you'll never go back. You have to put that aside and make sure you finish. I let everyone else's negativity be my motivation. And guess what, I was the first person out of my entire family, cousins and all to finish college! Goodluck!
