We found out last week that the baby has a 2 vessel umbilical cord, instead of the usual 3. What does this mean? Hopefully nothing. But it can mean the baby has a congenital defect, such as downs. I decided against an amnio. So far, the baby is measuring right on target and the doctor couldn`t find anything else wrong, so I think my odds are good to have a healthy baby. Most likely, the baby will be born early and smaller, so I will be monitored closely with frequent ultrasounds. I `m trying to stay positive and hope for the best! :)

Had my follow-up ultrasound yesterday and everything looked wonderful! Baby`s growth is right on track (measuring 1 week ahead in fact) and all organs, limbs, etc., are perfect! I am so relieved! My next ultrasound is the end of March to be sure the baby continues to grow on target. :)

Wednesday, 30 Jan

This is my first appointment since the ultrasound discovery of the 2-vessel cord. It went well! I`ve gained another 3 lbs., which makes 8 total. Not bad for the half-way point. :)The nurse practitioner said the 2-vessel cord is really a non-issue. The only additional testing I will need are non-stress tests starting at 34-weeks. I will have to go to the birth center at the hospital for them. The non-stress test will tell how the baby is doing and is a good predictor for the week ahead. So I `ll have to go in once a week to have them done. The test lasts about 20 minutes. If the baby seems in distress at any of the tests, they would schedule an induction, because the baby would be better off out than in.I have a follow-up ultrasound scheduled in March to check growth, at around 28-weeks. This may be the last one, depending on if the baby continues to grow on target.

Wednesday, 27 Feb

Appointment today went well! Uterus is measuring right at 24-weeks, blood pressure great (94/60), baby`s heartbeat is strong. I`ve gained another 3 1/2 lbs., bringing it to 12 lbs. total. My appointment next month is the lovely gestational diabetes test. Yum! lol

I had my follow-up ultrasound on Thursday. Baby is measuring perfectly for 27 weeks! The baby weighs 2 lbs. 13 oz. :)

yeah i said the refrigerator and he acted like i was the stupid one! i was like hello haven't you ever heard of bacteria growing on stuff after it's been heated and left out? and he said Yeah that is why you put it in the oven. I said No, the OVEN doesn't have a cold enough temperature to kill the bacteria. He still insists that the oven is the only way to go. So i just let him eat his nasty left overs! Plus he put the extra boneless chicken wings in the oven too, even MORE DISGUSTING!

Hello, just checking in. Sounds like your baby is doing good. :) Mine is good too, the SUA is not slowing his growth down at all, and the only thing they are worried about and pinging on now is his kidneys are still a little larger than they want and the AFI might be a little lower than they want. But other than that my biweekly non stress tests are holding well, and the baby is doing great. I hope the rest of your pregnancy is going well!!

I don't even know if it is my mucus plug. But it sure sounds like it. Do you think it is too early to be losing it? I also have a incompetent cervix. So I really have to watch out. I had my first daughter at 37 weeks but I was threatning to go into labour early with her too. If I can go 2 more weeks I should be ok.

Thanks for commenting on my poll. I found some blood in my discharge yesterday. But it was just a tiny bit, and just the once. What week were you when you started losing yours? I thought that 32 weeks is a little early to lose it. What do you think? Did this exact thing happen to you too? Congrats to you.
