We found out last week that the baby has a 2 vessel umbilical cord, instead of the usual 3. What does this mean? Hopefully nothing. But it can mean the baby has a congenital defect, such as downs. I decided against an amnio. So far, the baby is measuring right on target and the doctor couldn`t find anything else wrong, so I think my odds are good to have a healthy baby. Most likely, the baby will be born early and smaller, so I will be monitored closely with frequent ultrasounds. I `m trying to stay positive and hope for the best! :)

Had my follow-up ultrasound yesterday and everything looked wonderful! Baby`s growth is right on track (measuring 1 week ahead in fact) and all organs, limbs, etc., are perfect! I am so relieved! My next ultrasound is the end of March to be sure the baby continues to grow on target. :)

Wednesday, 30 Jan

This is my first appointment since the ultrasound discovery of the 2-vessel cord. It went well! I`ve gained another 3 lbs., which makes 8 total. Not bad for the half-way point. :)The nurse practitioner said the 2-vessel cord is really a non-issue. The only additional testing I will need are non-stress tests starting at 34-weeks. I will have to go to the birth center at the hospital for them. The non-stress test will tell how the baby is doing and is a good predictor for the week ahead. So I `ll have to go in once a week to have them done. The test lasts about 20 minutes. If the baby seems in distress at any of the tests, they would schedule an induction, because the baby would be better off out than in.I have a follow-up ultrasound scheduled in March to check growth, at around 28-weeks. This may be the last one, depending on if the baby continues to grow on target.

Wednesday, 27 Feb

Appointment today went well! Uterus is measuring right at 24-weeks, blood pressure great (94/60), baby`s heartbeat is strong. I`ve gained another 3 1/2 lbs., bringing it to 12 lbs. total. My appointment next month is the lovely gestational diabetes test. Yum! lol

Saturday, 22 Mar

I had my follow-up ultrasound on Thursday. Baby is measuring perfectly for 27 weeks! The baby weighs 2 lbs. 13 oz. :)

Hallo Nan 639's. Yes My 3 year old is a wild one, but sooo sweet. She is not keen on this new baby and completely ignores me when I tell her about Katie. When I say we are calling tha baby Katie she says NO!! THE BABY IS CALLED JADIE (Her Name) Guess she's not ready to give up being the baby in the house. How is your pregnancy going? Is your baby all right with the unbilical chord having only 2 vessels. I can remember with my 1st us that was one of the first things they checked. I'm holding thumbs everything turns out just fine. I'm having sooo much trouble finding a baby name. I know that poll prob sounded bad, but I just tend to like names like that better... I don't know why! Besides, I have looked at sooo many names, I'm not sure that there is a girly name that I haven't come across.

I'm doing ok... getting really tired! They got me doing NST's 2 times a week now, and getting my growth scans. Looks like he's doing ok right now! Getting Anxious!!!!! I hope you are doing well and all is good with you and the baby!

Actually, last night when I woke up, I was laying there and I felt her kick from the inside, so I put my hand on my belly and I felt it again from the outside too! It was so awesome! Then, this morning when I woke up I wasn't sure if I had dreamed it or not! LOL :)

We can't agree on when- I want to tell him now. But because we lost one at 23 wks before Ethan, we don't really want to tell him until we pass that point at least. If something happened again, we don't really want to explain it to a three year old. Babies aren't suppose to die, but they do. I'm just not ready for him to know that. So hopefully soon!!!

I opted out of amnio testing as well. My blood work was high for Downs but US was negative. I didn't take the US for risks and the fact it wouldn't matter anyway. How are you?

i am sure your baby will be fine (=
mine has 3 soft spots...
the 2 vessel cord, a zyst, and the fluid behind the neck is upper normal close to upnormal.
so i am praying hardcore and ask all people to pray for my baby to be healthy. i am going back this thursday to see a specialist and check again. so i pray that all those soft spots are gone (=
i know God can do it.

Thanks for the comment! I love Hudson's hair it makes me laugh everyday, my MIL is trying to tell us that his hair is 'strawberry blonde'...I'm like uhh no woman that is RED! She gets so mad, for some reason she doesn't want him to have red hair but I don't think we have a choice at this point! Hope everything is going good!

thanks. I had mine done on friday. It was very painful!!! Im ok now. no bleeding or anything. I had to get a biopsy as well. Cramping though!!
