Wednesday, 11 June My daughter really liked her Baby Einstein car toy. I can't think of the name of it, but it has a mirror and it has the Baby Einstein caterpillar that lights up and plays music and says the colors in different languages. It comes with a remote so that you can change the function while you are driving or alter the volume. I found it at Target for 24.99. Good Luck! julia -
Tuesday, 10 June Hi there and congrats on your baby! I was reading your comment about how your baby hates her car seat and I have an idea. I bought this rear view mirror thing, I got from Zellers (I live in Canada) but it is great. It looks like an aquarium with fish in it that your baby can kick with her feet to make them 'swim'. It just goes over the back of the seat where your baby is positioned and my daughter loves it. It totally distracts her from the car ride. You may not be able to find the same one but maybe you can find something similar. It was about $30 but well worth it! Good luck! Addyson mommy -
Tuesday, 10 June my daughter also screamed when we were driving, I would put a soother in her mouth, and roll up a receiving blanket around her upper chest so it would keep her soother in her mouth and prevent her head from flopping forward especialy when she was sleeping. I also bought some toys for the car seat that she can play with and she was much better (the toys were on the handle), I think she needed to be entertained....good luck Jo-Mama -
Tuesday, 10 June Malone used to hate the car, but she likes it now. I try to time the trip with one of her naps so she'll fall asleep. When I am driving alone and she starts to cry, if it lasts more than a minute I pull over and calm her. I just shhhhh and touch her face and give her a soother. Eventually this works. I don't play any music or anything until she's asleep, but maybe your baby would like to hear familiar songs. When I am driving, if she's awake, I sing to her.
Make sure the car seat straps aren't too tight because that can bother them. I think you should be able to slide finger under the strap comfortably.
Each trip has gotten easier. I really think that timing is of the essence. TiffJD -
Tuesday, 10 June NewBeginnings,my son would fuss when he was in the back seat alone, then I got a CD of sesame street songs and he loves them. When I play it he giggles like he knows it's just for him. It helps serve as a distraction when we are alone. Another thought...do you think her carseat straps feel ok? One time Owen was crying like crazy in his highchair and when I got him out, I realized I had pushed the tray up too far and it was hurting his tummy. Maybe try loosening her straps and see if that helps. Does she sit in a swing or bouncy seat ok? Maybe she doesn't like the confined feeling.

Tuesday, 10 June i just read your message about the screaming car trips. MY son use to do that. Finally i switched him to a rear facing converatble seat and he was a much happier camper. He just hated the infant seat. As soon as i switched him he stopped screaming every car ride. Now he is happy when we get in the car. Also for a long ride i suggest a portable dvd. They are great, even when they are real young. Constant stimulation! Good luck. We are going with both boys this weekend for a 6 hour carride. joeyandzacksmommy2007 -
Tuesday, 10 June hey if i were you i would get her ears checked out..i had this problem with my son and it turned out that the car made his ears hurt so bad that he was miserable. something about fluid in the middle section. just an idea...hope it gets better we are heading for a 13 hour car drive this saturday..... Tuesday, 10 June Hi there! Regarding your screaming in the car comment in Month 9....if your baby is screaming that hard, are you sure there is nothing making her uncomfortable? Maybe a strap that's pinching or something? Or maybe she's reclined too far and it's causing reflux? Just a thought. You may want to try a different car seat...some babies just hate certain car seats. I know that's an expensive option, but you can always return the new carseat if it doesn't help. Otherwise, a lot of babies dislike car seats in general. My son would often fuss in the car too. Ditto on what the previous person said. We also used the blinking/musical star that came with his Baby Einstein floor gym...it mesmerized him in the car. Luckily it gets better as they get older and more interested in toys or whatever you hand back to them. Good luck! mamasuzy -
Tuesday, 10 June my little one used to scream bloody murder in the car also, especially at night. the first time she did it i got freaked out and thought something was seriously wrong. she has a star that lights up with different music on her play gym, i figured out that if i put that where she can see it, she would stare into it and stay calm throughout the car ride.
she is now 7 months old and LOVES being in the care...so its just a phase i bet :) trishaj23 -
Tuesday, 10 June my neighbors baby is the same age and had the same problem.. well they downloaded and bought a couple lullaby cd's and it worked! you just have to put up with the lullaby's but i think we are used to that by now lol so try that and a frozen binky. see if that works. good luck, nobody likes to hear their baby screaming and crying.

Tuesday, 10 June Have you checked the straps? Could it be something is uncomfortable? Do you have a mirror? I have one that has lights and plays music, and that seemed to occupy him when he was small. cherryrose -
Tuesday, 10 June Have you tried nursing right before you take her for a ride? If at all possible, when you go on the long car ride, ride in back with her, I do that when we drive 7 hrs to disneyland racheld -
Tuesday, 10 June Get a portable DVD player with some Baby Einstein videos. My lil girl HATED the car - I now have no problems. And we did a 9 hour car ride when she was 4 months. 1hotmooma -
Tuesday, 3 June I got mirena put in a few weeks ago and i get cramps from out of nowhere from time to time. Also my hair has started to shed alot. My doc said thats probably from my hormones adjusting. I do have some spotting but somehow it only happens the day after we've had sex. Go figure? So far i like it. I did research and it can cause weight gain and the whole hair thing. If i start to lose to much i might take it out. Oh and the hip pain is bearable but its there. sharon -

Monday, 2 June I think that whoever makes baby clothes also makes women's clothes because those sizes are just as messed up! girleo -
Monday, 2 June Hi, you asked about anyone that had the meraina put in, well i was going to get it, although i have two friends that had it done and both of them got it tangled in their cervix and they had to have it cut out so i decided not to get it done, it got twisted in one of their cervixes, and had to have surgery to get it removed :( so i decided to take birth control pills instead... I'm not sure what the % of people that have it done have problems like this, but the only two people i know that had it done both got it tangled and cut out.. not trying to scare you or anything but you might check with the doctor and ask questions about it getting tangled in the cervix.. mom2boy -
Monday, 2 June I have totally noticed that with clothes. Jamison fits into his 3 to 6 months stuff but still fits into 0 to 3 month things as well. The sizes are so inconsistent. I think carters and mini wear does it best. Gerber runs really small, even when he was a newborn he was too big for Gerber newborn Stuf. shallon -
Sunday, 1 June Hi-i'm from the 5th month but i saw your question about the merina....i love it...the day you get it-it is a little painful-cramping-like a really bad period but nothing like labor-take something before you go and keep up on it cause it can be pretty uncomfy-you will bleed for awhile (everyone i know has experienced this)..i bled for almost 2 months straight but i have now had a month off and it really is nice..i am getting my first af since and it really isn't at all like it was....little more cramping but not bad....Good luck! if you have anymore questions come over to the 5 month-there are 5-6 ladies with it... jenn1022 -
