Sunday, 1 June I have a mirena in, iv only had it for 2 weeks but I had my period when I got it put in and I only bleed for not even a full day after. It is a little uncomfortable to get it put in but it seems all good. Congratulations on your little girl. momoffive -
Friday, 30 May All of my children have slept with my husband and I from birth untill they are around 2 years old ( then struggel for another year to get them out of our bed :-) I am a very light sleeper and have never had a problem. Other than the fact that my son won't sleep unless he is snuggeled up to me, it works out very well. lexzee -
Thursday, 29 May Congratulations on being a new mom and a breastfeeder!! I hate hearing new moms say they can't or don't want to breastfeed. It is so great for the baby! I would seriously not worry about falling asleep with your baby, I think its pretty common for all breastfeeding moms once they realize how easy and convinent it is to have the baby latch on and suck away why we get a little extra sleep. Trent is 9 weeks old and has slept in bed with my husband and I everynight of his life so far. I always have his pack n play by the bed and sometimes try to put him in it after he falls asleep, but more often than not he wakes up and wants to eat, so back in the bed he goes. I did the same thing with my daughter (who is now 4 and absolutly wonderful) and it was definitely the best option for us. leahsmom -
Thursday, 29 May I nurse Leah in bed like that every morning. I don't fall back to sleep though. I just wait for her to finish and put her back in the crib. I am just too paranoid about rolling on her. I wouldn't be able to sleep well anyway. That being said, my sister slept with all three of her babies and never had a problem. If you are nervous or worried I wouldn't do it. If it feels right for you and your baby, do it knowing there are risks, but millions of moms sleep with there babies with no problems. wasabigizmobunny -
Thursday, 29 May Hi I read your comment about feeding your baby and falling asleep. I do the same thing with my son and I think it's pretty safe as long as you don't have a very heavy duvet that can cover her head up closeby. Breastfeed babies have the lower incident of SIDS. Also, your might be know it but you are probably subconsciously very aware of her sleeping cycle and would wake up if she didn't feel well. And since she's almost 2 months old already I wouldn't worry too much about SIDS. soon2bjoeysmom -
Thursday, 29 May I do the side-laying feeding in bed at night too--usually at our 4 a.m. feeding and we both seem to do really well too...I've read about the SIDS and not letting your baby sleep with you, but its nice for both of us and its like I don't go into a deep sleep and somehow I'm very aware of her the whole time...she loves it and it lets me sleep a little too! fuzzypeach -
Thursday, 29 May I wouldnt worry about falling asleep with her...your body actually produces hormones that make you a very light sleeper when she is that close to you. I think it is the way mama and baby were meant to sleep in the beginning. I did the same with Avi up until her 2 month mark, then we moved her upstairs to her crib...let me tell you, we both slept so great when we made the move. She now sleeps like a rock all night for 12 hours straight...it was a little rough at first, she was in a habit of waking up at 3am and 5 am. but within a month we got her sleeping the whole way through...now she just waits in the morning for me to fetch her. I kinda miss the snuggling when she was your babies age though. Don't worry...enjoy it...I do reccommend the big move around the 2 month mark though...the longer you wait the harder it will be to get her to sleep on her own. sarah2880 -
Thursday, 29 May I saw your comment on the 4 month page, and I have fallen asleep with all of my children nursing too! I would feel bad about it, but I was exhausted!!! If you are a heavy sleeper becareful because you don't want to roll on the baby. I am a very light sleeper and I was just always really sure that I knew where I was and where the baby was
I hope this helps~ YolandaLee -
Thursday, 29 May Nothing wrong with bubs sleeping next to you ... mine does cos it's easier and everyone gets a better night sleep. He has not been one of those babies that sleeps through the night and I get so tired getting up and down all night. Many times I've fallen asleep with him next to me on the boob. You just have to be careful of doonas and pillows as they are a suffocation hazard. As for having cereal at this age just so she sleeps thru the night, I wouldn't recommend it. Their tummies aren't ready for that until they are at least 4 months old. Not every baby sleeps thru straight away. Mine is 15 weeks old and has only just started sleeping longer than 4 hours in a stretch. They will do it in their own time. Hope this helps! TexasTammy -
Thursday, 29 May Hello, saw your question about bf in bed. I bf but Jack sleeps through the night so the only time I bf in bed is on the weekends when we are trying to sleep in a bit. I would say try to stop laying down to bf every time. One thing that you might not realize is that she may get used to and enjoy sleeping next to you and that may be a reason that she's waking up. I'm not sure how old she is but I know at 5 months, Jack would get spoiled to me laying with him every night to feed. Depending on her age, you might want to consider a little cereal at night right before bed to help w/ her sleeping all night. Some folks don't want to do that so that's a personal choice. Just a suggestion. Good Luck! heather4185 -
Thursday, 29 May just read ur post on 5 months and watched ur video, ur little girl is so cute congratulations. With regard to the BF i did it for 5 months im still bf 2 times a day now, mornig and night, but Imogen has always gone back into her cot at the side of my bed, there have been the occasional times when she has slept a couple of hrs in bed with me but it scares me to death. i would suggest getting her used to being in her own crib, yes it will be touhg at first but its good to get her into a routine now rather than try and change when she is older as it will be much harder. hope this helps and good luck x Bri -
Thursday, 22 May Personally I would wait until your baby was older. Some girls don't want their ears pierced you know. My sister in law is one. She is too active and just didn't care to have it done. She's now 23 years old. Also, I got mine done when I was 9 years old. Actually it was about a week before my nineth birthday. I still remember how excited I was. It was something to look forward to and made that birthday memoriable. I have a son but "when" I have a daugher I will have her wait too. Just my personal opinion. mom2boy -
Sunday, 18 May Yeah, that helps. It just confirms that our little ones know exactly how much to take from the breast and that our bodies produce just that! Jamison is getting chunky as can be so I assume he is getting plenty. candensmommy -
Thursday, 1 May Hey, in regards to building up your supply... I have the same pump as you and what I have found to work the best is to pump on one breast as he eats on the other... its a little challenging to do both at the same time but I get more milk that way because its easier for my breasts to let down when he is acutally eating... sometimes I have to do it again later to make enough milk in one bottle since he just ate off it 2 hours before but its so much easier to 'let down' when he is on one side... I hope I'm able to let down at work... When I do this I feel like a milking machine.... its kinda funny! Good luck newbiemama -
Thursday, 1 May about breast feeding and pumping.... I do it too. What works for me is breast feeding on a full breast and pump a little later before the next feed. It's hectic at first but your breast will get the idea to produce more milk. Try that after awhile you'll become more efficent so you'll feel like you have more freedom! wasabigizmobunny -
Thursday, 1 May I also want to store up and pump but I have the same problem as you. Actually, it's even worse since I get clogged ducts that are painful every time I try to pump and store up. If I pump after I feeding I cannot get ANY milk. I think store up whatever you can and once you are back at work and away from baby at the regular feeding times you will be able to pump at lot more since she won't be nursing directly. Good luck! I know it's hard work but breast is best :) Jo-Mama -
Thursday, 1 May I get my biggest pump first thing int he morning (3-4 oz). My baby only feeds from one breast (my left nipple is inverted and she won't have anything to do with it), so I use the other for pumping. It works well. I have 36 oz frozen already (in less than a week). OF course, this does mean that the nipple she does feed from is working overtime and gets pretty sore. eCCAbOO -
Thursday, 1 May http://www.llli.org/NB/NBmilksupplyissues.html
this website helped me figure out how to increase milk supply and how to decrease milk supply :) good luck sonya75 -
Thursday, 1 May I read your questions about pumping. I don't know how often your baby is eating right now. But from what I've read, it's best to pump in between feedings in order to build up your milk supply. This is a great website to get a ton of info on breastfeeding questions. www.kellymom.com
I've really found it helpful, hope you do to. Maddux -
Thursday, 1 May Try to pump about 1 hour to 1/2 hours after you feed your baby. At first you may get very little when you pump but your body will start to respond to the increased demand and you will begin to make more milk. Also, it helps to continue pumping a few minutes after you don't see any more milk being expressed into the pump. This "tricks'' your body into thinking there is more demand and your body will respond. It usually takes about three days for your supply to show an increase. Just be consistent in pumping between feedings and your body will respond accordingly. csewell0301 -
Thursday, 1 May i pump every 2 hours and my milk supply is getting there some times i only get an ounce total some times i get 2 so it really depends she eats every 3-4 so its been working alright but she eats like 4 oz and is only 2 weeks old so we will see how it goes but i do have that pump and i love it karenc -
Thursday, 1 May hi there - one thing I did to build supply was pump in the mornings, for the first two feedings of the day, while I was feeding my son. so one arm holds baby while the other holds the pump. it takes some getting used to and a bit of coordination, but you get used to it. and the more you pump, the more you'll be able to get at any given time. you'll do great -- if you find you can't get enough before you go back to work, you might consider mixing your breastmilk with formula -- I know you don't want to go to formula, but it is an option and really okay for baby. good luck! mtnwoman -
Thursday, 1 May First off, Congrats! Sorry to hear that you are having to go back to work. Its not fun. I started back up when my little guy was just about 2 months old. For the first day of day care he actually got formula. But at work I pump a couple times a day and just drop it off with the sitter when I pick him up in the evenings. I don't do it, but a great time to pump is in the middle of the night while your little one is sleeping and taking a longer period in between feedings. A coworker says she is up at 3 am every morning pumping. I prefer to get my sleep and if Riley doesn't have enough milk one day then he gets formula. You just do what you have to! And I love the name Lillian! If we were going to have a girl thats what her name would have been. vonvonsmama07 -
Friday, 18 April My oldest son had a hemotoma on his head after he was born. It calcified and went away...it took about 18 months. your doctor is right, you don't need to worry about it!!! arbaseler -
Thursday, 17 April Regarding the hiccups, my daughter gets them several times a day as well. Her doctor said that they annoy us more than they annoy the baby, and that they are a twitch in their diaphram. Hope the info helps!
