Hi Everyone, I am a first time mother to a beautiful baby girl. I call her my November surprise gift because she is pre-term, and was expected in January. My husband and I love her very much and are happy that she decided to grace us with her presence earlier itself.

VERY TRUE!!!

Mum and Dad were watching TV when Mum said, "I'm tired, and it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed.

She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's lunches. Rinsed out the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning.
She then put some wet clothes in the dryer, put a load of clothes into the washer, ironed a shirt and secured a loose button. She picked up the game pieces left on the table, put the phone back on the charger and put the telephone book into the drawer. She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry. She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom. She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out some cash for the excursion and pulled a text book out from hiding under the chair. She signed a birthday card for a friend, addressed and stamped the envelope and wrote a quick note for the grocery store. She put both near her bag then washed her face with 3 in 1 cleanser, put on her Night Solution & age fighting moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth and filed her nails.

Dad called out, "I thought you were going to bed."
"I'm on my way," she said.

She put some water into the dog's dish and put the cat outside, then made sure the doors were locked and the patio light was on. She looked in on each of the kids and turned out their bedside lamps and radios, hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks into the hamper, and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework. In her own room, she set the alarm; laid out clothing for the next day, straightened up the shoe rack. She added three things to her 6 most important things to do list.
She said her prayers, and visualized the accomplishment of her goals. About that time, Dad turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular. "I'm going to bed." And he did...without another thought.

Anything extraordinary here?
Wonder why women live longer...?
CAUSE WE ARE MADE FOR THE LONG HAUL...... (and we can't die sooner,we still have things to do!!!!)

THANKS FOR THE COMMENT ON MY NURSERYROOM, IM SO GLAD I FINALLY GOT IT LOOKING CLOSE TO THE WAY I WANTED IT! UR LITTLE GIRL IS SO CUTE, I CANT WAIT TO GO THROUGH ALL THOSE STAGES AGAIN!

Allison - Friday, 20 June
I am glad things are getting easier with the sleep schedule. It should only get better from here on out. Donovan was doing really well sleeping all the through the night, but lately he's been waking in the middle of it and crying. I don't know if it's because he's teething or what!!!! Oh well- it's still a heck of a lot better than when he was a newborn lol!

Bri - Wednesday, 18 June
Thanks, it's sucks. We are actually on two meals a day. One in the morning and one for dinner. Yesterday he actually had three since he wouldn't take his afternoon bottle at daycare they mixed it with cereal. It's crazy. I was about to go to the seven month board and tell everyone what a "load of sh**" the ferber method is. Kekoa woke at 8:15 (15minutes after he went to sleep) and so we decided it was early enough to try it. TWO HOURS later he was still going strong! Finally after about 2 1/2 hours he went to sleep. I would go in there, talk to him and lay him down. I would turn on his music and leave. Yeah that didn't work! Oh well. He will eventually do it

hey..i used signing as a way of communication for my first born and he will be 3 next week and he still uses it but only to remember it. it worked wonders and i plan on starting zack on it but i would wait another months to do it. also i would go to your local library and check out thier baby sign language books. that is what i did and joey knows well over 20 signs....good luck(plus its a learning expirience 4 you too)

Allison - Monday, 16 June
Hey there! I think around 3 months is when he really started sleeping through the night, but it only took about a month for him to distinguish day from night. Before that, he'd sleep all day and was up all night, a syndrome I am sure you are familiar with by now ha ha ha!!! Oh, it's so hot here. Supposed to be 111 degrees! YUCK! We're going out to dinner for father's day this evening with the baby, my husband, my parents and my brother and sister in law...should be fun! Have a great day!!!

Allison - Tuesday, 10 June
Hey there! How are you doing? I love your profile pic!!! SO cute- those chubby cheeks!!! I can hardly believe it's almost a year since I gave birth! Wow! I remember how clueless I was before I had the baby and I've come so far!!! Nothing much new here. D is getting two more teeth (on the top) and I took him in the swimming pool with me today, which he seemed to enjoy after an initial two minute period of crying lol...It's getting hot here- bet it's hot there too!

*Sarah* - Monday, 9 June
Thankyou for your comment- I just can't wait to get baby here now!

No my placenta was at the top. We don't know why it all of a sudden hitme out of know where my blood pressure shot up and then go down just as fast as it went up. Then I was under a great deal of stress. But yes the appointments I just love becasue it makes me feel like I did such a great job caring for him. It is amazing how much alike our stories are and so close together. I am on another website and wow I just did not realize how many babies are born early and needed some sort of help at first. I am so glad in the end we had healthy babies. How long did your little girl stay in the hospital? How big is she now? My little guys head is the only thing behind right now. I just finished reading all of your page gosh we sound so much alike going throught he same things. I am not a SAHM like you but I raise the baby all on my own my hubby does nothing with the baby. I is very hard work and our relationsship oh gosh a roller coaster one minute you are here then there upside down and back up crazy life. Good to talk to you! ~Donna

Thanks for your support. I just read your post and I see what a strong woman you are. I am so happy that your daughter is doing well and that you and your husband have found your way. We had similar trouble too. I think it is a natural course of events. Thanks again!

Allison - Saturday, 10 May
Hee hee... he's huge. We saw a little girl at Babies R Us (she was 13 months) and he was bigger than her and she looked like she was afraid of him lol! She was so quiet and rpim and proper and he is so huge and so loud and "boy-like" ha ha ha!

aussie-mum07 - Monday, 5 May
Wow, you and your lil one are fighters. I just read your birth story. I hope everything is total bliss with you and your family. Your story did bring tears to my eyes but I was happy to hear that things are all better now. All the best with motherhood :)

Allison - Saturday, 3 May
Ha Ha- my Mom would not let me get my ears pierced until I was in the forth grade and got a certain grade point average. I was SO excited to finally have them done! Do you believe it- my best friend has to wear clips on all the time b/c she was too much of a chicken lol to go in have her ears pierced lol!!! She's funny. Yes, the teaching schedule will allow me more time with Donovan. I am going to go to school part time, so it's going to take me a while to get the master's degree, but that's okay. I am not going anywhere and I am not in any rush....hope you have a good weekend!!!! xoxo

Allison - Wednesday, 30 April
Hey girl! Definitely inquire about what you could do the next around to NOt to go into pre-mature labor (if there is a next time) and if there isn't, hey, that's okay too!!! :-) I didn't realize that if you didn't check your page in a month, you'd be deleted lol! When I was PG, I came on this site approx. 5 times a day ha ha ha b/c I had nothing better to do. Now, with the baby, I try and check it every few days....How do I manage everything? Well, the good thing is that I am staying home and not working so I can raise Donovan, until he's in school full time. Then, I'd like to get my Master's degree and teach elementary school- that way D and I would be on the same schedule. I can't imagine having a full time job and trying to raise this baby! It's so hard for working Moms!!! But, sometimes you need two incomes to survive these days!!! You do what you have to do, I guess....Sounds like you're doing very well yourself! Motherhood is NOT easy, but it is the most rewarding thing I've ever done. Thanks for the compliments on my page. I had A LOT of extra time when I was pregnant since I was a part-time suibstitute teacher to work on my page...It was really fun to put it all together...take care...Hope baby is doing well...xoxo

In regard to your question on the 5 month board. Megan is going through the same thing. They start seperation issues around now. She feels really secure with you, and wants that comfrt only a mother can give. It will get better, but it is frusterating when you can't gt anything done. The only thing I did was give her attention like she wanted only I did it by not pick her up like she wanted, I would sit next to her entertainment saucer and play with her, rub her face and sing to calm her. She would cry at first, and I would only let her cry for short pierods of time, but she is getting better. She know I am there, and she is learning to feel more safe without me holding her. Hang in there, your not alone.

Allison - Sunday, 27 April
Hi! I just re-read your birth sotry and tears came to my eyes again. You're so brave and mature and strong and VERY intelligent! You and your husband and baby have been though so much. I wish you all the happiness and health from here on out! Do the doctors have any idea why you went into pre-term labor in the first time? What do they think might happen the next time you are pregnant? I've read that sometimes in cases such as this, they will sew up the cervix for next time- it's called a cerclage (I think), and it helps get you to full term since you may be more likely to go into pre-term labor again since you've already had that happen to you. God bless....xoxo

Allison - Sunday, 27 April
My husband's mother and father are one of 6 and 7 children. My great grandmother straight from Italy to the US had at least 12, a few did not live. These are different times! Things are more expensive, the world is a crazier place, etc...two is a nice number. RIght now, I am satisfied with one. He keeps me every busy. Do you get to visit India often? I've been there several times. I've never been to the United Arab Emirates, but my brother has been to Dubai and loved it. I would like to go someday, just for the shopping lol! Your baby girl will catch up eventually, even though right now you have to add 5 weeks to everything...Thank goodness she is thriving and is doing so well!!!! Hugs xoxoxo Keep in touch with me please!!!!

Allison - Thursday, 24 April
Oh my goodness, it is SO much better now at 8 months!!! I had some post partum depression when Donovan was first born and that was hard. My hubby stayed home a month from work to help and I went on medication, but now I am like an "old pro" when it comes to babycare lol! I am so in love with this little one, but it's a lot of work, so my husband and I have decided only to have one. Besides, they are expensive lol! I am so glad your little princess is doing well. 31 weeks is not the ideal time to go into labor, but there have been some stories on here about babies born at 24 and 27 weeks at only 2 lbs, so at least your baby girl was 4 lbs. Still a preemie, but better off than many preemies. Where do you live? We live in Scottsdale, AZ, but my husband is from Bombay, India...He uses the term "touchwood" also, so I was curious...take care xoxo...

Allison - Wednesday, 23 April
HI there! Thank you for your wonderful compliments of my baby boy and my husband. They are both handsome! Tears came to my eyes as I read your harrowing birth story and your after-birth experience. You have been so brave and your little girl sure is a fighter! Wow- what an ordeal you and your hubby have been through! Having the baby has taken a toll on my marriage as well. It's totally normal, and even more so in your situation. I am so glad Raina (beautilful name - it means "Queen", doesn't it?) is progressing so well! You've been through so much- just enjoy every second you have with your precious little one and thank God for the good technology that exists today and allows for pre-term babies to have a fighting chance at life! Take care and God bless your little angel...:-)

THANKS FOR THE COMMENT ABOUT ZOYAS NURSERY. I'M PROUD TO SAY THAT MY HUSBAND AND I DID IT ALL OURSELVES. IT WAS A LOT OF FUN, AND ZOYA WAS BORN ON MARCH 18TH AND SHE'S BEAUTIFUL.

robyns - Tuesday, 29 Jan
I'm sorry I just read that your daughter was a preemie... No wonder she is so small! (in regards to my last comment)

robyns - Tuesday, 29 Jan
My daughter was diagnosed with acid reflux also today. 9 lbs sounds very small for 10 weeks old. My daughter is 9 lbs and 5 weeks old and is only in the 50th percentile. Did the Dr suggest adding rice cereal to her formula or breast milk? That's what my Dr put my daughter on. Enfamil A.R. It has rice starch added into it already. Then when I pump breast milk I add 1 teaspooon per 3-4 oz of milk. Ask your Dr if this is something you might try. I really hope this helps. Good luck
