January 31st, 2008Almost into the 21st week and so far so good! We are having another boy....he `s healthy and normal per bloodwork and ultrasound!I thought I was having a girl! The fetal heartrate was 144-148 and there were several differences with this pregnancy in comparison to when I was pregnant with my firstborn son, Aiden. I based my guess on the higher fetal heart rate/old wives tale! Well I was wrong! Now I `ll be totally outnumbered at home: hubby, 2 boys, even Maximus the yellow lab is a boy! Just more tired this pregnancy, running after a toddler and working 90% full time - 12 hour shifts day/night might explain that! So far, I `ve gained 6 pounds....looking forward to having a little buhda belly! :D

Tuesday, 6 May Hey there, hope you're doing well! You're almost done w/ work aren't you? I'm jealous! I started a new job today! I'm just a glutton for punishment, I tell ya... :}
So, I found out that my baby is measuring large [6.5 lbs at 34 wks] and I may need a c-section... they're going to re-evaluate at wk 37. Then my friend reminded me of something that freaked me out... she said if they schedule a c-section for earlier than 4O wks, you may need an amnio so they can check on lung development. Do you have to have that done? I haven't asked my dr about it or anything... but I swear to God I'm more scared of an amnio than I am of giving birth! I do NOT want that dang knitting needle going in my belly! I'm such a wimp. I'm just wondering if you have to have that done. fizzimomauk -
Tuesday, 29 April I know exactly what you mean! How are we going to cope with 2?? Just do what you can and forget about everything-else!! The dog has had an upset stomach for the last 2 days:( but otherwise we're all fine!
Take care:) mplsmama -
Friday, 25 April Oh, man, you're making me nervous w/ the whole sleep thing! I sure hope mine is a good sleeper right off the bat, but we'll see! I think as a baby I was an ok sleeper, but apparently I bawled for about 6 months straight, according to my mom. My hubby was a dream baby, so I'm really hoping we have one like him! We'll see!
Sorry to hear you're having back pain. That sucks. Not much longer! Good that you get to stop working a few weeks before your c-section.
My last appt I was measuring "large," according to my dr. I was measuring where a woman would normally be measuring at 37 wks, rather than 32. So I'll get another ultrasound next week to find out what the deal is. It's either that I'm carrying a really big baby [yikes!], or extra amniotic fluid, or I've just packed all of the pounds onto my belly! Wish me luck! lolabean08 -
Thursday, 24 April hey there...i just wanted to let you know my c-section was schedulled for june 5th also and i would have had a 20 month old too...good luck girl!!! fizzimomauk -
Wednesday, 23 April Hi Nursey,
It's definately weird having the birthday booked! And in some ways it still seems like a long way off, but in others it's scarily close! It's still not sunk in that we're going to have another tiny one! Take care and keep me updated:) Love to your boys xx Nursey -
Wednesday, 23 April C-Section Date: Thursday, June 5th, 2008
Last day of work for this RN: May 17th, 2008
I'm excited, yet terrified at the same time!! Unsure how I will manage a 20-month-old and newborn at the same time with no sleep. But we'll get through it! fizzimomauk -
Wednesday, 23 April I can TOTALLY relate to you. I'm on prenancy number 2 as well. With a young son, hubbie and boy dog at home. We're not sure what this one will be yet though! My last day at work is also May 17th and I'm due to have a section on June 5th!!! FREAKY!! Good luck and keep us updated:) mplsmama -
Monday, 21 April Oh my gosh I would LOVE to get a year for maternity leave! America is really messed up when it comes to stuff like that... don't even get me started! I'd absolutely love to take off more time but I just don't think we could afford it. Some of my friends actually had to go back to work after just 6 wks. And it's not because they wanted to -- just because they had to. So sad. I'm trying to count my blessings, because my hubby will be home w/ me all summer [he's a teacher] and he'll probably take an add'l 12 wks after that. So at least we'll have one parent home for 6 mos... that's actually a lot more than many people are able to afford, so I guess we're lucky that way. My mother will probably do daycare for us part-time. It'll help a lot. I totally trust my mom to do a good job.
Hope all is well w/ you... I'm getting really tired lately, and a bit swollen at the end of the day, but nothing major. How about you? mplsmama -
Saturday, 5 April Hey there, glad to hear you're doing well! You're having a scheduled c-section? I kinda wish I could predict my baby's birth date! :-] I think I had some BH the other day & it kinda freaked me out. Made it feel so real! I hope s/he stays in there 'til my due date - esp since my hubby is a teacher & his last day of school is the day before my due date.
Good luck on the GD test. Yeah, not pleasant, but not as bad as I thought it'd be.
As far as work goes, I plan to keep working until I give birth. My original plan was to stay at home for several mos & look for a job later, but I just found out I may be getting a job offer next week. So I guess I'll be going back to work after I take my 12 wk maternity leave. My hubby may cut back to part-time work & stay at home a bit w/ the baby. Not part of the original plan, but that's ok I guess! Keep in touch! mplsmama -
Saturday, 15 Mar Haven't seen you online for a while - hope you're doing well! amandakaye -
Monday, 4 Feb If only men could be us for one week, they would be SO MUCH more understanding!! They will never get it cuz they will never have to go throuhg all the stuff we do! Men will be men! I hear you, I get pretty disapointed also, Good Luck hope it gets better. Cherryb0m -
Sunday, 3 Feb HI!! I'm sorry to hear about your hubby. Mine didn't want to help out very much at first especially when I wasnt showing yet. He just didnt understand b/c I didnt 'look pregnant'. Whatever!! He also thought that since my mom didn't have any issues while pregnant(being sleepy all the time & throwing up all the time) that I shouldn't either. Men just don't get it! I finally got fed but and basically told him how it was going to be and he shaped up. Now he's great, poor thing even cleaned the bathrooms!!! I'm sure you have told him how you feel, but maybe mentioning it again he'll shape up. Good luck! mplsmama -
Sunday, 3 Feb Hi there - saw your comment about hubby not helping around the house much. Sorry you're having to deal w/ that. I swear men can be so inconsiderate sometimes! I think they just look at things differently - like the mess in the middle of the room just doesn't bother them like it bothers us - not excusing the behavior, but you know what I mean? Once our kitchen light went out (not just the bulb, the whole light) and it took SIX.. yes SIX.. months for my husband to fix it. And that was only after I stopped cooking one night & told him I was not going to drag the lamp over to the stove to be sure the chicken was cooked-through anymore, and he could could his own $%^& meals if he expected me to do it by lamplight! It was only after he was personally affected that he did something about it. Sigh. Yet I still love him. Guess it's why people say can't live w/ 'em, can't live w/o 'em, huh? ;) Andais -
Sunday, 3 Feb I feel you on the spouse not helping out alot at home. My husband works full time and I only work part time. I have a 15 year old step son and I still feel like I'm doing everything around the house. If I ask either of them to do something I get this huge lecture on how I have more time on my hands than them. That may be true, but I'm utterly exhausted from 12 noon and on, and can only be active for about 20 minutes before I start to feel sick and have to lie down for awhile. I have to break down into tears to get them to help out even a little bit! mplsmama -
Monday, 28 Jan One more thing - I notice your is about 9 oz - mine was supposedly measuring at 13 oz! Isn't that awfully big? My dr says it's still considered normal, but I'm starting to get nervous! I don't think I've seen anyone whose is measuring that large! I'm only 5'3' and really not looking forward to the prospect of having a large baby! mplsmama -
Monday, 28 Jan Glad to hear your u/s went well! What a relief. I'm jealous that you got your pics on CD! I actually was going to bring a blank CD to ours to see if they could just save them onto a CD for us, but we forgot the CD, and they said they wouldn't have been able to do that for us anyway. And congrats on finding out your having a boy! I keep going back & forth between thinking it's a boy or a girl... but my hunch is leaning toward boy. Everyone else thinks it's a boy too - not quite sure why. It'll be funny if we all end up being wrong. I'm like you - could care less what gender it is, just hoping for 'healthy!' mplsmama -
Tuesday, 22 Jan My u/s went just great today! I feel so relieved. Everything is measuring exactly where it should be, and the organs looked great. S/he was squirming & kicking the whole time. Can't believe I can't feel the kicks yet after being able to see them on the screen. I feel much better now that I know everything will likely be ok. Since I'm 35 you never know... but they actually decreased my odds of having a baby w/ downs or other birth defects! Whew! Hope all is well w/ you too... mplsmama -
Wednesday, 16 Jan The only craving I have so far is Lucky Charms cereal! Weird. I have several bowls per day.
I have my next big ultrasound on Monday & I'm getting nervous. I really hope everything goes well. I'm sure it will, but the anticipation is killing me. We've decided to not find out the gender. mplsmama -
Sunday, 13 Jan Hi, there, I'm doing well. Hope you are too. I haven't really felt movement yet & I really wish I did! I have had a few sensations that are 'interesting,' but I can't say for certain that they're flutters or kicks. I'm really hoping in the next week or 2 I'll be able to feel something more definite. I keep joking that this baby must be just like my husband... super laid back, just hanging out in there. Have you felt movement? I'm finally showing a bit - had a few people actually be able to tell I'm pg which is cool. mplsmama -
Tuesday, 1 Jan Hi, happy new year's! I actually made it past midnight so I was pretty excited! :)
Haven't felt any movement yet either, but I'm anxiously waiting. I seriously just look like I have a 'gut' right now. Tummy is sticking out, but if you didn't know me, you'd just think I was kind of hefty. I really just can't wait to look pregnant. I'm guessing I'll pop sometime in the next month. I hope so anyway! peanutgut -

Thursday, 20 Dec Thanks for the tip on the bella band! Another member told me about them, and I bought a cheaper brand off of ebay. It does work, but I really think it's a cheaper, low-quality version so I think I'm going to break down and buy the 'real thing.' :) Yeah, even though I'm bummed I haven't 'popped' yet, I would love it if I could just wear my regular pants with that band during my pregnancy, rather than having to buy a bunch of new clothes. I'd rather save my money & spend it on my baby! mplsmama -
Wednesday, 19 Dec I'm envious that you have a bump! I hope I'm not going to have to wait until 22 wks like you did w/ your 1st! This is my 1st and I'm not really showing at all. I've put on a few pounds but I just look like I have a gut, it's really bumming me out. I want a bump! Hope all continues to go well for you! :) Leave a message for Nursey in the right column where it reads `Add comment`
